Spring in November, Isn’t it Lovely?

I am seriously loving this weather! I went for a bike ride this morning to get a coffee. I’ve been a bit slack on blog posts this week as I’m seriously prepping for a TEDx talk this weekend. I’ve been giving myself a little goals of doing some work and then rewarding myself with a coffee or with lunch. I’ve got a lot to get accomplished this week! Next week I’m shooting a holiday project with a major design company and I’m really excited about it. I set a goal to do more video so I’m pretty stoked about all the collabs I’ve got coming up. [vine id=”eLKeuduiF0T”] In other news, I recently discovered how great dictation is on my MacBook, I can literally talk and it types everything I’m saying. I’m doing this today because I’m feeling a bit frazzled! 😛 Prepping for a speaking gig involves lots of talking to yourself. Dictation and iPhone voice memos are my saviour this week. THANKS APPLE! Scion Canada hooked me up with a car for the week, which I am LOVING! I’ve never owned my own car and it’s so freeing to just jump in an hit the open road. This Is My Life | Halloween & Chill

Had a nice Halloween this year. Was a bit more chill than years before, didn’t go out-out on Halloween night. After taking Em & friends trick or treating we stayed in, got takeout and watched Netflix – first time I actually watched Nightmare on Elm Street. On Friday eve we saw a dude in front of us with binoculars, I was puzzled to know who the creeper was. He was peering out the window, stopping and looking through them. It wasn’t until I noticed his shirt I screamed ‘WALDO> I FOUND HIM’. We all had a laugh. Drove up to snap his photo. Good costume mate! Friday night we stopped by Maison Gothique hosted by Grey Goose Canada at Brasaii. Sean was a very convincing Fidel Castro while I was his pinup sidekick. I like this black hair look. Having long hair is something I’m not used to at all. It’s always in your face and gets caught on your jacket and stuff. We danced the night away at the Tricon Films party after. It was heaps of fun. If you follow me on Snapchat you’ll have seen it already. Good music. heaps of cool peeps, a stripper pole, and great costumes. [Snapchat: casiestewart, add me!] On Saturday I’d been scrolling Pinterest and Facebook looking at costumes all afternoon and threw this look together for trick or treating. Luckily I’ve got a stock pile of wigs and lashes to make anything into halloween. Wearing this kind of super long lashes is kinda weird, they block a bit of your vision but look fabulous. Seeing all the little rascals run around for candy was pretty cute. they all got candy wasted shortly after. Save this for next time you need to call in sick! Events | Woodbine Racing 2015 Season Comes to an End

This weekend, before heading to the cottage Garret, Sean and I stopped by Woodbine for the last big race of the season, the Breeders Cup. Over the past few months I’ve attended a bunch of great times there with friends. Almost everyone I took this season came home with $$. I’m still working on my luck! Carla had never been to the races so I took her as my date. It was a nice sunny afternoon and we started with the Hats & Horseshoes party. All season, Woodbine hosted a selfie contest with a $1,000 gift card prize. It was easy to enter, snap a selfie with the racetrack in the background, post to Twitter or Instagram with #OfftotheRaces and you were in. Aside from the Queen’s Plate there’s Woodbine Oaks, the Pattison International, and Breeders Crown. Before Dawn moved back to Scotland I took her for an afternoon at the races. Woodbine Oaks was a fun one for us as there were rock n’ roll bands playing for us to jam out to. My sister Carynn was the big winner of the summer with a near whopping $100 for the day. We went in the middle of October and it was an absolutely gorgeous day. We dined at Futures where they offer a sit down lunch, private viewing area, and full buffet. This Is My Life | Yesterday Felt Like a Day and a Half

Yesterday was an action packed day that started with me picking up this beautiful new pink iPhone 6s. THANK you Telus! I was due to get a new phone and my old iPhone 6 has been cracked for at LEAST a month. I’ve been using my new Samsung tablet heaps for drawing lately and totally love it. Spent a couple hours at the office before heading to Roy Thompson Hall for a private sit down with with the Indigo Girls. Cottage Life | Video + Wood, Boats, Dock, A Fall Beard

On thanksgiving morning we took the big boat out of the water (which involved me driving the truck with big trailer attached). Add that to my skills! Once the boat was away we stacked HEAPS of wood. So cute. We stacked HEAPS of wood. It’s was big job but the weather was nice, worked up quite a sweat. Last task of the day was taking out the other small boat and the dock. We put on wetsuits and went for it. I think we were both surprised we did it by ourselves (and my strength!). Sean is strong, my muscles are not as good for heavy lifting. Over the winter I’m planning to work on my editing skills so I can make more + better videos. I would love if you subscribe! This is My Life | Is it Friday Yet?

Oh man yesterday was one of those days…I was trying to get something done ALL afternoon and every. little. thing. was distracting me and before I knew it, the day was almost done. I’m ready for the weekend. You? We’re heading up to the cottage and I seriously can’t WAIT. It’s amazing how I’ve become so addicted to silence and the wilderness. I love staying home, sitting, reading, relaxing. I guess that’s what happens when you get older?! Yesterday I had to turn down an offer to go on a press trip to Tulum, Mexico because timing conflicts with another job. A bunch of friends are going and I was pretty bummed. I’ll just have to plan another trip! This winter I’m determined to get away 1-2 times. Sean and I both worked so much last year we didn’t go on vacation. I’m not tooooo crazy about the stars but Mercury is in Retrograde ? until the 9th and I’m ready for the switch back. This weekend I’m taking my sister Carynn on a date to Woodbine Racetrack for her very first time. Instead of eating at the concession, we’re getting a lil’ fancier at Favourites Dining Room (located on the 2nd Floor, west end). It IS Thanksgiving weekend after all! Thanks Woodbine! This is My Life | There’s Harmony in Autumn, and A Luster in it’s Sky

That’s a wrap on summer! Had a nice relaxing weekend at the cottage. Still a few weeks before we close the place up. The leaves have just started changing. It’s beautiful. Yesterday Sean and I heard this crazy loud noise when we were out for drive. It was Ontario Watercross Racing – snowmobile racing on water. I didn’t know this was a thing! They have to keep going at pretty fast speed to stay on top of the water. Saw few go down and get pulled up from the bottom of the lake. The course includes going around a couple buoys then sliding back to the sand. It’s super fast. We watched a few runs and victory laps on the grass before heading home. They’re REALLLLLLY loud. (Sorry this is showing up so small!) Picked up a few of these little guys . I love this time of year! I know I say that about every season but they each have their charm, they really do. Been thinking a fair bit about halloween and what costumes I want to go with this year. Had a nice sunset cruise in the boat last night. Perfect way to close out summer at the cottage. Have a pretty crazy adventure planned for next weekend at the cottage. A brand is sending two private planes to take some friends and I and flying around Muskoka and to Port Carling. I’m excited. This is My Life | Aaaaand We’re Back! That’s a Wrap on Summer

Yes, I know ‘summer’ isn’t officially over but if you’ve been away from school or work, it’s pretty much over. The feeling is gone. Back to the routine. New notebooks, new clothes. ✏️ Maybe a new attitude?! This time of year is exciting, I love when seasons change. If at any point you feel meh, remember that Halloween and Christmas aren’t far away. The season of Netflix & Chill is right around the corner and it’s a great time to clean up your house, diet, friends, thoughts. This is My Life | Sirius XM, NKPR, Greta Constantine, ALO Restaurant, H&M Studio

This week was a busy one! I was looking through photos and decided it would be a good idea to take a look back. Monday I was back on Sirius XM co-hosting the Todd Shapiro Show. It was super fun. Listen to it here. I’m working on a big project at 1188 and we had a meeting over foot massages. SMARTEST IDEA. There’s a little spot at Queen/Portland, $25 for 30min. Not prices like Thailand but the massage was just as good! Work work. Tuesday was the NKPR pre-TIFF media event at Natasha’s house. Tahnee was there! It was great to see all the fashion/media peeps after a long relaxing summer. The crazy is about to begin! Can’t wait for TIFF. Recognize these bachelors? Tim (L) and I shot a TV show earlier this year with NKPR. Todd isn’t a bachelor anymore tho. Brad (R) is on TV in Canada and a former Bachelor for those of you not from here. The NKPR IT Lounge has been going on for 10 years. It’s a VIP gifting suite and portrait studio. Caitlin Cronenberg is shooting it for W Magazine again this year. I’ll be popping by on Sept. 9th. Wednesday night Greta Constantine hosted La Piscine. A glamorous night held at 77 Admiral Road, a three story brick mansion with beautiful backyard and pool. Hometown w/ Ma Homies

This weekend I’m heading home to hang out with my parents, sister, and go to an old friends wedding. I’m pretty excited to see everyone. There will be heaps of people I’ve not seen in a LOOOONG time. I know we’ll have lots of laughs and I can’t wait to cut up the dance floor like old times. Me: Seeing everyone and the whole wedding thing gives me a bit of anxiety. Knowing I’ll be there with my sister is comforting though! Sean is getting construction started on the cottage so I’m taking mum as my date. Next weekend we have another wedding! Cottage Casie in Full Effect!

Came in from a nice float out in the water just now. It’s so warm, the lake feels like a pool. This is my first blog post on the new computer. I’m so stoked to be up here and have 10 days to work on creative things. My new blog is on the works, I love the design and I hope you will too. It’s been years since I gave it an update. The current look and feel is very similar to when I first started casiestewart.com in 2005. The first site is still alive at casiestewart.blogspot.com. Working on this new machine feel like a Porsche or Ferrari compared to my little MacBook Air. Today Sean picked up a huge new monitor and comfy desk chair for the cottage, I’m ready to ROLL. I saw some amazing desk chairs on www.bestgamingchair.com/herman-miller-mirra-2-chair-review and I decided it was time for a new COMFY desk chair! The view from where I’m sitting is the photo above. I’m planning to put big 10 person tent on lawn and make a nice glamping hideaway. I attempted to do it on my own today (never having set up a tent) and gave up after a few minutes. I need help, I don’t know where everything is. This is me after a I made a Pina Colada and decided to go floating in the sun instead.

New Things I Love! Short Hair, Tesla Cruisin’, MacBook Pro, Meat Pies ✌?️

It’s almost the weekend. I’ve worked hard. I’m ready to reeeeeeeeelaxxxx! Looks like we’re gonna get some rain, I’m working on a blog makeover so I’m ok with that. Won’t feel bad missing sunshine to nerd out ON MY NEW COMPUTER! Sean picked it up for me yesterday and I can’t WAIT to tour around this amazingly fast little machine. He also came home with meat pies from The Pie Comission. Seriously, what a dreamboat! I’m so stoked. It’s been a few years since I upgraded my Mac Game and I’m proudly replacing my 11″ MacBook Air with a 13″ MacBook Pro. Welcome to the family! Sean recommended that I got an external monitor for my MacBook to make my life a bit easier so I’m looking at reviews on bestbezellessmonitor and will keep you updated on whether I get one or not! I’m also going to be a lot more careful with this one, as I know that they’re susceptible to cracked screens if not looked after properly – I don’t want to have to fork out to repair it any time soon. All my Apple gadgets over the years have been named after famous men in history. This guy is yet to be named… Went to the Indie Ale House last night. Food was really good! She moved to the junction recently so I have another friend in the hood. Woot! The desserts, so good. Loving my hair short. Getting it trimmed a BIT shorter today too. Rode in my first TESLA yesterday. What a car! It’s so fast, smart, good looking, efficient, I can’t get enough. Snapped this out the sunroof. Beautiful day! Cut my hair off today!? It feels so good! I think I might even go shorter. Woke up, styled my mop, it just was NOT working for me. Thought I wanted long hair but I really don’t like it. I’m over it! It’s hot and short hair is so much fun + stylish. Sean LOVES my hair super short. (My head was partly shaved when we met five years ago.) So, I gave The Loft Toronto a ring today and booked an appt for a snip and him to have his beard trimmed. Got a few compliments on this dress today. It’s from Forever 21! <3 CASIE

Muskoka Living: Lake, Boat, Babes, Dock, Drinks #cottagelife

Spent the weekend at the cottage and went to WayHome Music Festival. There was NO WAY I was camping the festival grounds. We had absolutely BEAUTIFUL weather. I know it’s only Monday but I really can’t wait to get back up there. We had a nice brunch on Saturday at the Muskoka Inn. Sean in my glasses 🙂 Totally my MCM! Next weekend we’re seeing The Trews at The Kee to Bala. Stopped by the Balacade to play some games. “If you think romance is dead and gone Find an old jukebox full of 45’s Pop a nickel in it and it all comes back to me” This grandma totally creeps me out. We went to get groceries and saw a cowboy who decided to ride his HORSE to the store. I love the country! We had a girls party at the lake in the afternoon. On Sunday we went to WayHome but it was SO HOT OUT. After walking around for a bit and seeing Weaves, The Sheepdogs, and checking out the Etsy shop, we went back to the cottage and jumped in the lake. Feeling today like I might have a bit of heat stroke. Next week we’re up at the cottage for a while. I can’t wait! Counting down the days. This week will be a good one, it’s going to be hot and SUNNY till Sunday. Tomorrow night I’m heading to the Island Yacht Club for a little party. Who knows what else the week will bring! <3 CASIE

O Weeknd, Where Art Thou?

Oh hi, it’s me and my smiling face. Started the week out pretty carefree, rode my bike a bunch, spent some time in the sun. Now, I’m ready for the weekend. Been working on a big client campaign the last two days and have been in the office non-stop, and late. It’s really nice out today. I love this weather. When I’m not working from home (or the cottage!) I take a few mins every hour to pop outside, ring mum, or soak up some vitamin D. Put some Kevin Murphy Colour Bug in my hair today. I miss having coloured hair. My roots are coming in so I mostly put it there. It’s faded out to a nice cotton candy. Wearing new kicks sent from Reebok Canada + WayHome Festival. #OfftotheRaces: The Queen’s Plate 2015 at Woodbine Racetrack

Last weekend I took Carla to Woodbine Racetrack for her very first Queen’s Plate. In case you missed my post about it last week, the Queen’s Plate is the oldest continuously run race in North America and Canada‘s oldest thoroughbred horse race, having been founded in 1860. (Wiki). We attended the Hats & Horseshoes party and dressed according to the ReThink at the Races theme in black and white. My dress is an oldie from JacFlash that has a cape and I absolutely love it. It’s that LBD I can always count on when I need to throw on a dress and feel fabulous. (LBD = Little Black Dress) Picked up my hat at Winners while in Ottawa with Mum last week. Bag is Betsy Johnson, shoes Nasty Gal – Shoe Cult, necklace is vintage silver from Tiffany’s (Sean got me me a couple years ago). Glasses are from Polette Eyewear in France. These mirror men were awesome. It was the perfect day to be outside in the sunshine. Felt like I was wearing a disguise hiding under my huge hat and glasses. It was great! Thought this was a funny moment. Once we arrived and did a tour we took a break to tweet about it. We did ACTUALLY talk to each other. Caught up with Vanessa and the KP Squad. I decided to take my chances and bet on a whole bunch or horses for the Queen’s Plate. Unfortunately, I didn’t pick the RIGHT ONE. I’m learning to bet as I go here. The winner was Shaman Ghost by one and one-quarter lengths. I’ll be at all the big races for the rest of the season through a partnership with Woodbine Racetrack. Lovin’ the Crew – Tourism Calgary Arts & Culture Trip

Meet my crew! Sean and I were shooting w/ Tourism Calgary this week. If you follow me on the Twitter or IG you’ll know this already. Shooting in the pool was fun. Sean was a really good sport! Met up w/ Mike Morrison aka @MikesBloggity to tour around downtown in the new bike lanes. He recently founded Calgary Bike, tours around Calgary by bike with landmarks, photo spots, facts, and history. We are inside this giant head, art sculpture. It’s called Wonderland and is a female head that’s about 12 metres high. It was created by Barcelona-based designer Jaume Plensa. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Rock show at Sloth Records for Sled Island. Picked him up a new hat. When in Rome, right? Went to the East End block party. Finally got him to let me do this. So cute. Had our caricature drawn by epic moustache guy. Finished the day at Wreck City, pre-demo car wash turned interactive art exhibit. The sun sets just after 10pm. It was also super hot. Loved every minute of it. The video we shot will be shared by Calgary Tourism in a few weeks. I’ll post it too! 💛✈️👍CASIE

Up Up & Away!

Today Sean and I travelled to Calgary. ✈️🇨🇦👍🏼 It’s been two years since I was in this fine city and I’m happy to be back. This week we’ve got a fun itinerary of arts & culture activities in Calgary. We’re shooting them all with Tourism Calgary and the video will be on their website once finished. Got a nice new mani and passport yesterday. We have 10 year passports in Canada now but I only renewed mine for 5 years so I can get a new photo! I know mum will have a chuckle reading this. 😉 One of my fav travel accessories, cosmetics bag by Ted Baker. Why does this July cover say Bruce?? Been loving this little shoes sent to me by Toms. The Huarache sandal is made in Mexico and comes in dove (off white) leather and black. They’re really comfortable. Pretty sure I had a similar pair as a kid. I love traveling together. 💛 We’re staying at Hotel Arts, a boutique hotel downtown Calgary. I stayed here about 2 years ago and since, they’ve put $7 million into renovations. We’ve got a beautiful suite with kitchen, balcony, living room, and 2 closets so we can have one each. Looking forward to a few days of fun activities. Vintage Ink Wine + Contest + Tattoo Tales

Ever wondered about someone’s tattoos but never asked? To be honest, I don’t really like explaining them to people I don’t know. It’s personal, I’m usually asked in a crowded place, and it takes a while because I have heaps. Some have number significance, dates, travel, family, and there’s a couple I got for fun. Pizza anyone? I’ve partnered with Vintage Ink Wines to share my tattoo stories and introduce a contest for a new wine label design based on tattoos submitted by people like us. The tatted! Tattoo Tales: Stories Behind My Tattoos I got my first tattoo in Australia, the southern cross constellation between my shoulderblades. It was about 4pm and we were driving from from Bronte to Bondi beach with no plans so, my friend Cameron and I decided randomly to get tattooed. We both didn’t have any until that day! My next tattoo was 2 lines on my right hand ring finger, one blue one orange. The idea is derived from a personality test called True Colours. It used to be used in workplaces to break people into groups and pair them together based on personality for group cohesiveness. It was prevalent in my studies and I learned that in order to be my most successful self, a 50/50 mix between my true colours was ideal. Orange – outgoing, vibrant, strong vs. Blue, analytical, organized, list maker. I still find this tattoo a helpful reminder. Note, tattoos on the hands fade faster than any others. I’ve had it redone about 3 times in 10 years. I got this owl about 2 years ago. It’s on my right arm, like most of mine because I drew them all on with marker first. I’m left handed. I found this design in a Google search and customized it to change the watch face…

This Car, Dreamboat

We got the 1982 Corvette on the road this weekend. I swoon so hard around this car, and Sean driving it. Talk about dreamboat. 💛 My parents had a 1979 silver Corvette. It was their first brand new car when they immigrated to Canada. I can’t wait to take it out for a cruise again. The engine sounds amazing and love the t-top roof. Vroooooom! 😀 CASIE

Off to the Races! Woodbine Oaks at Woodbine Racetrack

This weekend I went to Woodbine Racetrack for Woodbine Oaks, the first leg in Canada’s Triple Tiara of Racing, the prep race for The Queen’s Plate. I’ve been to the Queen’s Plate a few times and this summer I’m excited to partner with Woodbine Racetrack for the ENTIRE race season. I’ll be attending major races from from now till November. Better get some new hats! Since I’ll be at the races a fair bit, I decided to get a lesson in exactly HOW to bet and the fine details about horse racing. Some people pick based on names and numbers, which is ok (and what I had done previously). In my session learned about the odds, how they change, and Win-Place-Show. Picking a horse to win with 20-1 odds can really work in your favor! Grandad would be proud. When I lived in Australia, going to the horse racing was a HUGE thing. One of my fondest memories was going for a surf at Bronte in Sydney’s north beaches then rushing home to get ready for race day. Threw a friends dress on with my ocean tossed beach hair, grabbed a hat, and I was off to the races. We had such a fun day. Paris Hilton was there too. This weekend I bet on a couple races and even won a few $$ back. It’s so exciting when the race starts and you see your horse leading the pack. Everyone is standing up and yelling, it’s exhilarating! Photo Diary: New Hair, New Boots, Boats, Babes, Champagne, Rain

This week was a busy one. Not like ‘fake busy’, I mean I was full on running from one thing to the next every single day. I directed something Monday that was the 2nd day of shooting for a campaign. When we wrapped around 6pm, I went back to the 1188 office then over to RAINA+WILSON studio to celebrate the Globe Style Summer Issue. It was only Monday but I was ready to wind down with a cocktail. Grey Goose was sponsoring and they had grapefruit juice, my fav. 416 Snack Bar was catering and the food was A+ too. We were treated to a small private show by Calvin Love. The style issue comes out TODAY, Friday, June 12th. You can download it for FREE from iTunes right here. Tuesday was rainy and my hair was a mess. I find it much easier to work and concentrate when it’s rainy out. When the sun is shining I wanna shut my computer and play outside. You know what I mean? I went to the Stage TEN office on Tuesday night for a live Pet Skills show. It’s the world’s first live, interactive, web show! I’ll be sharing more about my involvement with Stage TEN soon. The lower East side of Toronto is quite pretty, especially driving over this bridge when the sun is setting. It was almost 8pm here. The bridge says ‘This river I step in is not the river I stand in’. It means the water is always changing, no river is ever the same. Think about it. Read more about it here.
