Let it Bloom: September

It’s been such a wonderful weekend. I woke up at the crack of dawn feeling excited about life and the week to come. Took some time to sit on the dock and think about good intentions for the month. September is always one of my favourites. For my New Zealand (Kiwi) family and friends in Australia it’s the start of spring and always inspiring to see their posts about things in bloom and seasons changing.  I like to keep that in mind when I think about September, there’s heaps of energy in the air with back to work and back to school. I am seriously in love with whoever is responsible for creating the Dairy Queen ads. They make me smile. The one with subtitles you can ride on is my fav. Saw this ‘friend grower’ one today. I’ve never had a meal at there but I’d like to try it now. The DQ near me only makes hot dogs, no burger or fries. I would love a burger right now. Kate & I were working at Tequila Bookworm today and ordered burgers but they were out. iSad! Updated my art blog, Borderline Artistic w/ new layout after watching this video from Google. Blogger has totally changed the interface & available layouts. I have a couple Blogger blogs. I actually have heaps of blogs 20+. I don’t update them all anymore but one day I will. This is one of my fav drawings. Borderline Artistic has been around since Sept. 2008. Found out today that Aggy Deyn (who used to blog about all the time like here and here) is the spokesperson for Dr. Martens FW 2011 campaign #FIRSTANDFOREVER. Ahh, two things I love together. Gonna go get a pair of Docs like her next week. Heading to Gladstone tonight for Pop Kult. Ross is DJ at midnight. Gonna be fun, fun, fun!

i’d like to wish you a happy happy

Chatting away with Sabrina and she said “He told me he saw a look alike of you today!?”, to which I followed “No way really?” said he asked if I “had any recent enhancements?” to which she replied I have not. Ah well, nice to know there’s a look alike somewhere floating around with big boobies, haha. In case you don’t know it’s  Doppelganger Week on Facebook which inspired me to post some blonde babes I love. My favorite model is Agyness Deyn, born Laura Hollins in the UK and one year later than me. She’s so fab, really. Her hair is wild and short and blonde and she keeps it amazing all the time. Her style is a whole tickle trunk of awesomeness. I’d love to go through her closet and try stuff on. Nothing would fit me as she’s at least 5’9 and I’m 5’2″. I’d still try everything on and dance around. We’d listen to Charlotte Gaisnbourg and talk about runways of Paris & Milan and drink and twitpic then go out dancing. I like Pink too. Her first album is the only one I’ve owned but that’s not why she’s one I like. It’s her attitude, she’s all “I’m gonna do shit and this is me and I’m gonna be me cause that’s what I’m good at”.  She’s not afraid to say she’s crazy, so what, she’s a rockstar, she’s got her rock moves and she don’t need you to like her. Also totally love her new love for public near-naked acrobatics. I love Gaga for pretty much the same reasons I love the others…attitude, look and style. Gaga is fearless and fierce, she’ll stand up for what she loves and how she feels.  She exaggerates all the things that make her different, the same things…

i always love her, no matter what she wears

I need a new sketchbook. Yes, need. I’m feeling that scatter brain a little,  little bit a rattle brain a little. I had my photo taken yesterday for an upcoming feature in Toronto Life. I like having my photo taken and my house makes a great studio. Daniel had shot a couple others before me and said I was the most fun. I visited Aggy last night, I missed her face. She’s got a nice one and the hair, well, you know, style. I’d like to take more photos with photographers, some creative fun over the winter. We invited over an American friend and a bunch of others last night an made a turkey with all the trimmings. It was tasty. I’ll be having turkey sandwiches and turkey soup all week. Yum. More about that later… Happy Monday 🙂

Good morning. Not hung over at all. Whoa, craziest guy. Red beard, so weird. I think he was upset I took his photo. Probably thinks I took his soul or something. Oh, Queen Street. God she was cute, blonde and red lipstick, suitcase, selling clothes in the park. I love it. She turned and smile at me right after this. Like attracts like, again. See looks like Agyness Deyn. Sabrina and I did a social experiment and checked out three vastly different scenes. First stop, a singles event we got invited to. Not my thing but the girls outfits were cool. This one was my fav. Next stop, Prince Perry & the Gladstones CD release party on the roof at the Spoke Club. Much more up my scene alley. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, such nice artwork there right now. Just noticed this one. A hot girl pulled us in while walking home. She reminded me of Terrie Hawkes (yes, she was that hot). She offered us shots from the bar at Brant House… ok, twist my arm. Bad night for this guy, was on the floor and couldn’t stand up. There were lots of drunk people. I was sober when I arrived but that changed pretty quickly. My camera broke, this is about the zillionth one I’ve ruined (bows head in shame and sighs). The steel case was already breaking and now the screen is cracked. Can still take photos just can’t see them right away. AH! Will make for some interesting shots I imagine. Nap time!
