Dark Side of Comedy on Vice/Crave

A couple of weeks ago I booked a role on a Vice show called ‘The Dark Side of Comedy‘ that’s currently streaming on Crave in Canada and Vice in the USA. My role is small but it was so much fun to be on set for a TV show! The episode is all about Ellen Degeneres and her career. I play a writer on ‘Ellen’ the TV series named Tracy Newman. The real Tracy Newman appears in the Dark Side of Comedy episode and was also a writer for Cheers, The Nanny, The Drew Carey Show. The image above is the real Tracey Newman with Ellen Degeneres, on the right is me as Tracy Newman with the actor Zoe Towne who played Ellen in the episode. My husband in the show was so nice, IRL he’s Gary Poxleitner. On set, I was giving my castmates tips about how to do social media. 🤓 Watch a Snippet of The Episode Here If you’re in Canada, you can watch Dark Side of Comedy on Crave here, if you’re in the USA you can watch it on Vice here. This is the first time I’ve been on a non-reality TV show and I hope it’s just the beginning of more shows! Please let me know if you watch the episode. It’s a great show! Here’s hoping I book more acting jobs in the new year! I love this new career path for me. So fun!

Day 77: Advice From A Tree

My eye is starting to look less scary. The swelling has gone done after hours of ice, laying down, antihistamines, and CBD. Today we took a long drive around Muskoka and stopped to get a few supplies. This sign was at a market in Port Carling. Most of the stores there have closed and it doesn’t look like they are reopening. ? We picked up plants to put around the house for Sean’s mum. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow so I can get out in the garden. I will be wearing full body bug protection! I also made a veg lasagna and it turned out so good. Emily has made a choice to be vegetarian so we’re all giving it a go. I don’t eat a lot of meat and hardly any dairy so it’s not much of a change. The lasagna was INCREDIBLE. Sending you love today and everyday.

Behind the Scenes w/ @OccupiedVR + VICE @CreatorsProject

I popped into Wallace Studios during this shoot to see Sean and the Occupied VR team at work. I love catching him in his element! Occupied VR is the *new-ish* company created by the 1188 Films Inc. partners created to focus on VR, 360, etc. work. They recently did the VICELAND CUT-OFF documentary w/ Justin Trudeau. It was so awesome to see how this VR experience was created. Screens were setup to watch the super-slow motion shots in real-time, inside the VR experience. I’m really not the best person to explain! Check out this behind the scenes video by VICE Creators Project Both 1188 and Occupied VR have done some reallllly awesome projects, visit occupiedvr.com or weare1188.com to check them out. If you’re interested in creating something, send me an email at the office!

4 Companies Offering Great Customer Service

One of the things I really love about Telus is their commitment to customer service. They feel great customer service starts from the ground up and they’ve made a commitment to telling Canadians they need to Expect More from their telcom providers. Today I’m sharing a couple other great customer experience stories from other companies putting customers first. Little Burgundy – Broken Boots Near the end of summer I purchased a killer pair of boots designed by Jeffrey Campbell from littleburgundyshoes.com. I’ve been wearing them regularly but recently the cool cut-out heels broke.   I didn’t want get stuck on the phone ringing customer service so I sent a tweet with some photos to @LittleBurgundy and they replied within about 30 minutes. It took about 5 min to fin d a new pair of booth in store and the return was easy. I really love when a company is socially connect and able to help their customers over Twitter.  Nice work guys! Now I will check out the sales and probably buy more. 🙂 @LittleBurgundy hi guys, @JCshoes I ordered <2 mo ago broke this week. Both of them! Can you help!? ?? pic.twitter.com/eiXtpAEHnK — CASiE STEWART (@casiestewart) October 21, 2015 Go Daddy – Server Upgrade I’ve been with GoDaddy for my website hosting since switching over to WordPress from Blogger.com years ago. I’ve had nothing but great customer service from their team. I’ve had them renew my domain (until 2022!) help with a hacking situation (on the 1st day of TIFF!) and more recently with a server upgrade. GoDaddy recently changed their hosting and the plan I was on no longer had analytics. As a blogger and online business owner, the stats are important to me. I had considered switching to another host when their help team offered to look into my situation. Instead…

Millennials: Getting the right mix of financial advice

I never thought I’d be in an article about having good finances, let alone millennials and good financial advice.. It seemed impossible back when I graduated from collegge and uni, faced with debt from school, and every major credit card. I moved back from Australia and was BROKE. I had mounting debt and wasn’t making nearly enough money. I was on this show called Maxed Out (now on the Oprah Network!) where I confronted my debt with a financial advisor and through that experience, got a better paying job. If you don’t think you’ll get a spot on a show so you’re able to tackle your financial issues head-on, instead just get in touch with a service like Traverse City wealth management firm so you’re able to fix your finances. The host thought me making a living by being ‘Casie Stewart’ was a total joke and nearly impossible since I didn’t come from money. She compared me to Paris Hilton and I officially launched my casiestewart.com website at the end of the show. I had been writing THIS IS MY LIFE at blogspot but finally went to my own url. This week, an article that I consulted on recently came out with a study from TD bank. It quotes me and was published on PR Newswire, Yahoo Finance and some other places. This is my real story and my actual serious advice is if you are having money worries, no matter how broke you are, it is helpful to see someone who can get you on the right track. I’m 31 and debt free now! When looking into loans and finance advisers, you’ll need to do your research and learn to understand the alternative lenders and options you have. I have also learned a lot about managing money and utility…

The 7 Vices of Highly Creative People

An oldie but  goodie, came across this again while cleaning up old bookmarks. The article blog post was originally published on Salon in February, 2000. THE YEAR TWO THOUSAND. I was born a creative person and at times I’ve wondered if my vices are helping or hindering. It gives me comfort that many of the greats were open about their vices too. This list is a pretty good one, you’d enjoy the whole article on Salon too I’m sure. The 7 Vices of Highly Creative People Drinking – For [Winston] Churchill, like many other great drinkers, alcohol was a tool used to feed creativity and social discourse.  Smoking – Smoking has often been linked with creative genius. Gabling – The world is full of stories of highly creative people whose success was based on the big gamble. Oysters – Certain foods are frequently associated with highly creative people. None more so than the oyster. Fashion – The highly creative always choose their wardrobes with a more consistent flair. Sex – The sexual appetite and prowess of those possessed by creativity can’t be argued. Abuse the Card – The highly creative travel an expensive road, and the best way to stay between the yellow lines, or at the very least keep food on your table, is to Abuse the Card. Here’s to the crazy creative ones! Love to know if you have any to add to the list below? LMK in the comments or Twitta. <4 CRAZIE CASIE

Community Service

On Friday, March 1, some of the girls from Community Agency and I cleaned up Trinity Bellwoods Park over lunch. If you don’t know it, Bellwoods is in the heart of Queen West, between Strachan and Bathurst. It’s one of my fav places to hang out in the summer or bike through with friends. If you search ‘Bellwoods’ on my blog there are heaps of entries! March 1st was YWCA’s Big Day of Change, a Canada-wide day of action for young women to do something good in their community. Friday this week is International Women’s Day (IWD), an annual commemoration that began in the early 1900s. Our ‘Community Service’ was organized by my friend & Copy Writer Carlimia. She was featured on She Does The City earlier in the week with 12 women who organized events to make positive change. Thanks to Becca Lemire for snapping some shots too.   We had so much fun doing this together that we want to make Community (Agency) Service a regular thing. It felt so great to be outside in the sunshine at the park again. I can’t WAIt for Spring/Summer to be out in the warm air. Luckily daylight savings isn’t far away! Do something nice for someone today. It will help you avoid a case of the Mondays. 🙂 CASIE   See more photos by She Does The City on the Community blog!

She Gives The Best Advice

Had a lovely weekend with Mum. Brekky waffles were to die for. Heading back to the city. Tomorrow is my last day cruising in this Infiniti G37. I absolutely LOVE this car. Time to hit the open road in the sunshine! You are the author of your own life story, make it an adventure! Have fun. Call your Mum and tell her you love her. Heck, call someone else’s Mum too while you’re at it! Enjoy the day! <3 CASIE
