I have a thing for cars.

Saw this old Chevy truck in Mexico and it reminded me of Dad. When I was growing up I spent heaps of time round old cars as Dad owned a chassis shop called “Toys for Boys” where he custom built hot rods & cool cars like a pro street s10, as well as many others that would be now considered vintage. We always had people coming by the house with the sickest rides. I guess that’s where my love for nice cars comes from. Thanks Dad (and Mum of course!) 🙂 Next week I’ll be on the road driving the cute little Sonic from Chevrolet. Remember a couple months ago when I won A Sonic in Yonge Dundas Square LIVE on YouTube.ca? What a crazy experience. In January I’m attending the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Ford is sending 150 of the worlds top bloggers to NAIAS for a few days of press conferences, dinners, discussions & influencer activities. Can’t wait till my itinerary arrives to I can FW it to my Tripit app on iPhone. Mum informed me that I cisited the Ford Motor Company plant when I was a wee little kiddio. My how times flies!

Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet!

Hola & good morning from Capricci Latino on 5th Ave. I’m here having breakfast & wifi. Ok this gif is from Starbucks but their internet crapped out so I had to move on. Before I sit down for a meal when travelling, coffee or snack I ask if they have wifi. Pretty much everywhere does. I’m addicted to documenting, sharing and being connected so when I have the chance, I sieze it. There’s plenty of time to disconnect and soak up the sunshine. Check out what I did yesterday for an HOUR…PURE BLUSS!! Heading to the beach now to soak up some rays before I check into my new home at hotel Reina Roja at 2pm. Downloaded a cool app yesterday called Zite, it’s a personal magazine, kinda like Flipboard which also just came out for iPhone. I’m running on reserve battery power now so, I leave you with my most fav Christmas song, Jingle Bell Rock! 🙂 I’m back home Monday night and am looking forward to holiday spirit. Feliz Navidad! xo CASIE P.S. You saw Lindsay’s cover right?

la vida es un juego, lo juega!

Happy Friday amigos! Yesterday I walked all Playa del Carmen in the sunshine. It was so lovely. Last night I went to a soccer game. It was loud and full of energy and excitement. I could hear the cheering & “ole ole ole ole, ole, oleee” from our place so I went to check it out. Big guns & kids everywhere. At soccer!! Dec 8, 2011 | Source: Keek.com Our condo is in the back middle of this photo.   Cool bike rack! Never seen one like that before. Time to hit the beach. Life is a game, play it!

You Only Live Once

Make the most of each day. You will never be younger than you are right NOW so go do something awesome. Pura vida! Last night we made friends with six hot flight attendants from Belgium who were totally awesome. I went swimming in the pool at the bar that over looked 5th Avenue. Reconsidering my thoughts about moving to NY and thinking about LA. The team at Thynk Taynk (I’m here with) is really cool! I don’t think I want to have so much stuff or live in one place anymore. Travelling is the most amazing experience and I want to live it everyday. We discovered THE BEST SONG last night. This is it!

Don’t speak Spanish? No problem! I leave my browser in Spanish (or whatever language the country I am in) so I have to read the language more. It’s a fun game for me, I learn more that way! The title of this post and following translation are from the Playa del Carmen description on Wiki. “Playa del Carmen is one of the most visited sites in the Riviera Maya, and in general of the Mexican southeast. It is in itself a tourist destination, but also are several attractions around mainly related to ecotourism , adventure tourism and beaches.”  Yesterday I checked out the beach & 5th Ave where all the travellers, resort & clubs are. Met two babes from Argentina on the beautiful beach and we swam, tanned and had drinks in the sunshine near the hotel above. There are so many bars you can get massages at! For the record DO NOT get a massage after a night of drinking. All the toxins will come right out and you will want to put your head in a vice. Trust me, I learned the HARD way. Saw a live band @ Fusion bar. Swam w/ Rodrigo, dreamboat from Argentina. See video below. Yikes! 😉 Family portrait. Saddle bag at the leather shop. Say YES to Frogs, Señor. Mexican moolah. A VW UTE! Man I love the Holden Utes in NZ & Aus. My Uncle & Cuz Matthew drive ’em.     Cute. On my way home I stopped by Reina Roja, house of the Red Queen for some wifi and a Piña colada. I’m planning to book a room  there for one night before I leave. It’s an amazingly sexy, cool place!…

Travel Tuesday – Playa Please

The housemates do the Insanity workout each morning so being a keener, I joined in. I love being in Mexico! Didn’t bring workout clothes so my outfit consisted of American Apparel, Toms, and a headband. Yeah,  I’m so super hipster. Textbook. The workout wasn’t as bad as I thought. Reckon I’m more fit than I give myself credit. It amazes me how productive I am with work and exercise when I am out of Toronto. If I could only channel or bottle that inspiration! Knocked a few things off my list and gonna go exploring & grab a coffee (at Starbucks of all places haha).  Do you know that Playa Please is a Foursquare badge? If you’re looking to visit Mexico, check out this link for some great deals!

Don’t Just Live Each Day, Live it Out Hard

All I packed/need for seven full days fits into my Rimowa super light suitcase & Nella Bella Melbourne bag. Key to the perfect travel outfit for me is layering. Today I wore a little black cotton dress w/ sheer long skirt, cardigan, tights, heels & a hat. I could feel the warm air when we landed so I ditched the cardigan and tights before I left the plane. Found my suitcase in the airplane magazine! I promise I’m not a diva. Haha! The place I’m staying is a Mexican Melrose Place! First meal was tacos as a place called Kool Fish. Shrimp, yum! Went for a stroll around town. Pretty quiet. However, it IS Monday. Think it gets a little wilder come weekend. Made plans to party it up on Saturday. Had THE BEST Mayan chocolate ice cream. This photos is for Mum because she was all like “don’t drink the water”. Look Ma, all is gonna be just fine. Ate about 100 of these just now. The Pistachios that is. Gonna do the Insanity workout in the AM with the crew at casa Thynk Taynk in the AM then do some work and hit the beach. See y’all tomorrow.

Here We Go Again

Good morning from Pearson airport Gate 272. Boarding shortly to Cancun via Houston. Haven’t been to either of those airports before so thats kinda rad. I love discovering new territory. Was a bit surprised on how warm it was this morning in TO. I’m totally ok if there is still no snow when I get back next week. Feeling a bit exhausted from a really fun weekend. Yesterday I did nothing but watch movies w/ Sammy and eat takeout. This week is gonna be so relaxing. I can’t wait. T-8 hours till I’m beside the ocean. See y’all in Houston. <3 CASIE Dec 5, 2011 | Source: Keek.com

Travel in Style: Tripit!

I was introduced to the Tripit app last night by a friend who travels heaps. Man, was I ever glad today when I signed up! In two minutes I logged in with Google, forwarded  upcoming itineraries and voila! All my flight info was right there in my phone with flight & contact numbers and more. Having all your info conveniently located in your phone and updated in real time is very stylish. The other best part, it’s FREE!

More over clouds, Little Miss is here.

Ew, this rain is gross. I saw it might be rainy for a few days so I went into my pile of photos from Costa Rica to warm things up a little.  Enjoy!

Look out world here I come….

It’s been just over a week since I had brekky with this little guy in Montezuma, Costa Rica. I had an amazing trip filled with great people, random adventures and stepping off the beaten path. Been chatting Bruce, CEO & founder of G Adventuresthe last couple days about entering his contest to be the face of G Adventures. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be part of the G Adventures Team. Check out this little ditty featuring the G Adventures team all over the world. I’m gonna make my vid about my awesome trip to Costa Rica but, since I got back I’ve been thinking about what to do and where to go next. I’ve been invited to a friends beach side house in Cancun to visit Mayan Ruins and have an adventure. I’d be leaving next week for about five days…hmmmmm. Naturally, Mum gave me a bunch of reasons why I should chill but it’s a good price and I’m thinking about it quite seriously. Take a look at some pix of where I would be… what would you do? I think I should just go. I’d deciding today. I want to explore. I AM NOT A TOURIST!

The best suitcase I have ever used.

A couple days before my  most recent trip I got an email from RIMOWA, Germany’s luxury luggage manufacturer. I’ve never had nice luggage let alone ‘luxury’! Actually, the little suitcase I have belonged to someone else, is old and has a ripped zipper. It’s crap. The note was about Salsa Air Ultralight weighing only 4.2 lbs, making it the lightest carry-on luggage on the market and built for strength and durability. Now, if you know me AT ALL…you know strength & durability are HUGE in the things I use/wear. They had a suitcase delivered for me to take to Costa Rica and honestly, IT WAS THE SH!T! I love it. Rolled and tossed that baby with elegance, easy and  style from Toronto to Miami to Costa Rica to Libia to New York and home. We travelled car, bus, ferry, flight and through jungle, resort, beach and rain. Made this little vid-yo on the main street in Montezuma outside El Sana Banano. Thank you RIMOWA. Can I please keep it?! 😉

There’s Magic in the Air, Pura Vida!

Went on a gorgeous sailing trip this week with the owners of Anamaya Resort and friends. We drove to the ferry spot and sailed to Tortuga Island one of the most popular & beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. My stay here has been incredibly magical. I have photos and stories but the experience is the most treasured part of it all. Huge thank you to Joseph, Kelsey and Jeff for having me. Anamaya Resort is a slice of heaven. If you are looking for a beautiful vacation, come here. You will feel the magic of Montezuma, taste warm breezes of the ocean and see views that will stay forever in your memory. With love from Costa Rica,

Welcome to the Jungle

Woke up to this beauty beach view and went for brekky yesterday. It rained sheets the night before and it was late so instead of heading back up the hill in the rain I got a room at Hotel Les in Montezuma. Walked the beach during an insane lightening storm and there was something romantic about the incredible dark sprinkled with flashes of light. The squirrels here are pretty cute and this guy had a caramel stripe down his back. Went for this crazy drive with a friend through the jungle. I can’t wait to come back here. I want to travel around and see more of the country. Flying from Tambor to San José this afternoon before my flight home tomorrow.. I totally feel relaxed, calm, connected to my thoughts and things. I’m thinking about my next destination and know I’ll be flying again soon. It’s amazing what a week in a jungle forrest will do to you 🙂

Life Was Made for Living So Try Your Best

Couple days behind on documenting my trip, it’s just so lovely outside, who wants to be on the computer?! Yesterday I went sailing to Tortuga Island and have HEAPS of photos. The day before I went to visit Tracy’s hostel and hung out with her & Barratt. This is her view! Breathtaking. Barratt and I had lunch at this little café and they gave us cutlery in plastic. Never seen that before. I had a sandwich but it was nothing special. While I was sitting there the owner of the place I stayed the night before walked by and asked to talk to me. My first thought,”sh!t, I’m in trouble for being loud, drinking and smoking” but that was not the case at all! He gave me back 5000$ colones ($10) because he felt bad that it was under construction and I had paid a full $20. Score! After lunch I waited at the bar (Choco’s) for the other Anamaya people to finish up surfing. I’m a bit silly though and forgot our driver parked somewhere else and I totally missed the ride back up the hill of death (mega steep). Liquid dinner again. Good thing though cause I met this lovely blonde girl from England named Jules. Her and I hit it off right away, she’s crazy like me! HI JULES! <3 One of a kind, & hand painted designer cigarettes. Ok, hand painted by me with Sharpie but cool. Borderline Artistic! Jules and I played pool with some local boys and we all brought our own drinks to the bar. Crazy! Meet the Israeli boys babes  Evyatar & Amir. Quite lovely! Since there’s only one bar in town you get to know everyone pretty quick, especially when you’re tres friendly and Casie Stewart. No seriously though, I’ve met heaps…

Worst Day Surfing is Better Than the Best Day Working

I’m getting pretty tanned and not even really trying.  Yes I have sunblock Mum! There’s only ONE bar, this is it. Heyyyy Chico’s! Chilled here for a little smoke. Surf school & turtle conservatory. En route to pick up our boards, saw some monkeys. Check out this papa! Ok, so I didn’t carry my own board, Big Blue my new bestie did. He’s a surf instructor/local legend. I was like ooh can I get a shot of me like Britney in Slave?… “Well, you’ll only do it once”. Thanks Blue, these bad boys are mega poison. Ahh. I love Costa Rica.   I think everyone loves Costa Rica, never heard anyone say a bad thing about this place. It’s pure bliss! Apres surf I got a cheap hotel and went to Chico’s, chilled on the beach and had a house party. It’s all about balance! Although, coming BACK to Anamaya after bring at the little dive I stayed as made me appreciate it even more. I think Costa Rica and I love each other.

Travel | Aerial Silks Workshop at Anamaya Resort in Costa Rica

Yesterday before surfing I did a class in aerial silks lead by Joseph, one of the Anamaya owners. It was awesome! It’s pretty hard and you have to be strong but I loved it. Thanks to my Dad for being a gymnastics coach when I was growing up. It’s all helping now! I’m not quite as graceful yet but we’re getting there 🙂 Can’t wait to give this some practise.

Night Rain, Day Beauty

It’s rained each night I’ve ben here but the days have been lovely. The pool looked so pretty yesterday as the rain dropped in. We were floating in misty clouds. It was magical. Then it cleared up nice! Yeooowwww! This is the door to my lovely cabin I share with Dana from Vancouver. So cute & cozy. No need for AC the breeze flows through all the windows perfectly. Chilling in there right now. I’m quite impressed with my stay at Anamaya Resort. It’s super chill & beautiful, there’s been a zillion times I’ve closed my eyes and thought “this is real, I’m really here“. I’m packing heaps into each day yet feel relaxed. (The wifi is pretty good which I’m sure helps in MY personal relaxation.) The days are so much longer here than home, get up early go outside stay outside all day. I miss beach life. I’ve eaten all organic food since Sunday too. I have no idea what the kitchen is cooking for lunch today but it smells DELICIOUS! Just saw the ladies bring something to the kitchen. I’m starving, BYE 😛

There’s relaxed, then there’s REALaxed.

Doing a class in aerial silks this morning. Skipped yoga to catch up on emails & life stuff. I’m feeling mega relaxed. REALaxed. Was raining heaps this morning but it’s starting to clear up now. Going for a surf in the afternoon and I reckon the sun will be shining by then. Saw the cat catch, kill, eat a hummingbird today. CRAZY. Made two besties last night Lizzy from NYC & Jed D. from New Haven, Connecticut. Lizzy told me I should move to New York and I’m seriously considering it. I’ve been looking for a change and that would be really cool. Baz said  “live in New York once but leave before it make you hard & live in LA once but leave before it makes you soft”. I wanna give each one a try. I watch this as a reminder once in a while. if you’ve never seen it, it will brighten your day. One of my fav parts is “Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.” Remmeber, you are younger today than you will ever be again. Do something special, remind yourself that YOU ARE ALIVE. Life is made for living 🙂

Jungle Sounds All Around

I’ve never gone on vacation alone to some place warm & relaxing. I’m filled with childlike excitement knowing all the things I can do here. I’ve decided to stay in Montezuma village one night this week and check out the Costa Rica Film Festival. Surfing & yoga today and a one day sailing trip to an island before Friday. I’m reminded a few things being here… I really love iPhone, life, sunshine, wifi, meeting new people and traveling. Had Skype video calls with Mum at home, Bob from Boston and KMS in Auckland to show them around Anamaya Resort from my iPhone. It’s like THE FUTURE is already here. My room is lovely. Currently downloading Crazy, Stupid, Love so I can fall asleep with my boyfriends Ryan Gossling and (Andy) iPad. Outside I hear all kinds of jungle sounds like monkeys and birds that remind me of a sleep app I have on iPad but realer.  There’s a few voices speaking Spanish in the distance but it’s quiet compared to home. I sat in this hammock for a while today staring out into the ocean. It was magical.  This resort is very well designed. Kudos to the owners & thank you for having me. One can only DREAM what it’s like to call this place your home. Even at night the infinity pool looks lovely. All that darkness is ocean meets sky. Everyone has dinner together which is really nice. I had salmon, beets and vegetables but they cater to everyones food allergies like gluten free and all those other ones (I’m clueless about!). Chilled in this area for a little while today too. There’s lots of space for everyone to hang out. I wonder if that TV has cable so I can watch the Y and R? Omg I just remembered I will be one week…

Good morning from Costa Rica!

I wish could show you a photo of right now, there are about twelve ten year old boys around me speaking Spanish and giggling.  One said he loved me. They are very cute.  I’m not on the wifi at my resort yet and using an old PC and Explorer to write this. I have taken lots of photos, mostly on iPhone. This keyboard is in Spanish. I’m at an old mansion turned hotel and was woken by all the kids laughing. They’re watching soccer tricks on Youtube now. One might be reading this behind my shoulder but I’m not sure they speak English.    It’s been raining since I arrived but I don’t mind. It’s nice to be away and thwe weather is warm. Will be at the beach later. Hope you have a gorgeous day. xo Casie

Take all your problems and rip ’em apart.

When you find an old song you for got then you remember it. So good. Love this one by the White Stripes, Little Acorns. I paused the Y&R so I could listen. Was googling for a girl in a wing suit because the wind suit kinda looks like the CN Tower Edge walk suit and today Mastercard hooked me up with the experience to make it happen in the Spring. I’ve been tweeting I wanna do the Edgewalk since it was invented, last tweet was Oct. 4. The vault was full of vouchers and there was a grand prize of a $10,000 card with a trip to NY or London. I would love to go to New York or London or anywhere. Countdown gif, hehe. Base jumping is terrifying & fascinating. I have  bungy  and skydive in line before I try that one.  I found this one crazy/awesome girl, Géraldine Fasnacht, who does mind-blowing wing suit flying. This video get’s intense at  :40 and then my heart drops. After watching this I got lost in a wingsuit girl TIMEWARP of the the internet. I’ll need to get someone to shoot from by balcony when I do the walk on he Tower.  I can get pretty close with the new lens Olympus sent over.  Omg next week I am going surfing. This week is very chill compared to the last few months. I planned it that way. I want to feel relaxed when I leave for vacation. In one week I will be here. It does’t seem real yet but I’m trying to imagine. 🙂 * Little acorns, one at a time.  Storing up nuts for the winter.
