eBay Style Stories – Casie Stewart

This week I’m featured in the Style Stories series for eBay Canada. I’m wearing a vintage dress from Timeless Apparel on Queen at Spadina. I used to shop there heaps when Emma and Sammy worked there. Boots are vintage and my hair is done by Darren at Darren Kwik Studio on Queen near Trinity Bellwoods. Here is the photo and some extra shots. Read the feature here by visiting stylestories.ebay.ca/casie-stewart. Did you know that @casiestewart loves vintage clothing? Yep! Read her eBay Style Story for fashion tips here: stylestories.ebay.ca/casie-stewart — eBay.ca (@eBayCanada) September 4, 2012 A few questions from the interview: What was your favourite eBay find ever? Kids, vintage leather motorcycle jacket. Next time I might have to combine my ebay purchases with some online promo codes, my friend used some and she got some great savings! What is your guilty pleasure? Young & the Restless. #yandr Whose closet would you raid and why? Nicole Richie, we have similar style and she loves vintage too. What is your dream getaway? Going on a World Tour! What was your first concert? Britney Spears at ACC. Went to the eBay office July, 11th, blogged that day right here. I remember trying to iron this dress and almost burned a hole in it. Whoops! Mum, I promise I know what I’m doing here! Yes, one of the things I really love (that you will now if you follow me on Twitter) is the Young and the Restless. Don’t laugh. Oh, by the way did you ever see this? YES FOR ME OMG! I die. Every. Single. Time.

The Weekend: Sunday Sessions

In Australia there’s this thing called Sunday Sessions that starts in the afternoon, involves music, BBQ, friends and fun. I think Sammy & the boys might start it up this summer. I’m laxing on the balcony reading a movie script in the sun. It’s so lovely out! I’m not sure if it’s windy on ground level cause my balcony blocks it all. My little paradise, balconia. Catching a film for the Hot Docs festival and going to visit my sister later. Happy Sunday. Have a great session 🙂 ILU Bondi ♥

Friday Night Lights #FordBlue

We all donned blue & headed to the Liberty Grand Friday to get a first glimpse at Ford’s new cars. I’ve got to meet a bunch of the Ford team lately and I’m super impressed with their attention to detail and how they integrate social media into everything. Well done team. Sammy and I played magnetic car racing. We had one of these tracks at my house as a kid. Nice chatting you Lena. Check her (Mommy) Blog here. She’s LOVELY! Then Lau and I we went for drinks with the boys. The end 🙂

Weekend Recap: Feb. 3-5, 2012

Friday night Lozzie and I went to the Motion Ball Gala at the Carlu. Huge charity event for the Special Olympics. We danced a little, had a few drinks, and made some friends.  I didn’t win any prizes but happy to donate to a good cause. I threw some of the Kevin Murphy pink from Doll Bar Inc. in my hair to match my purse (Betty Kiss) and pulled this old emerald gem out of my closet (H&M). Learned a valuable lesson from coat check girly  (that I should have thought of), take a photo of your coat check ticket in case you lose it. There was lots of nice art. Hi Gaga. Oh hey Paul you lovely thang you. How’s The Grid? We had a breif Skype w/ Stu in England via iPhone from the Ball. Next stop Bloke & 4th was a total waste of time. Met up with the rest of the crew/kids at Lau’s house. Got my fav hat back! Snapped a dreamy pic of Sammy boy. Saturday morning I had a dress fitting for upcoming fashion show during Ottawa Fashion Week. I’m wearing Canadian designer Rachel Sin. The dress I picked is really lovely but I’m keeping it a secret till showtime. Spent the rest of Saturday on the coach. Finished season two & three of United States of Tara and watched a few movies. I was due for a day off. On Sunday Barbie and I cleaned the house, got groceries & went to yoga. How was your weekend? Did you watch The Superbowl Madonna’s performance? It was so good. God, I love her. I always have. I always will. TBT to Dallas when I worked for Virgin America in 2010 and at  Rockstar Hotel during the Junos last year w/ these dudes. Last night was fun! Ok bed…

Good things come to those who…

GO OUT AND GET THEM.

Watched State of The Union last night (sounds like a movie, no?). Obama is a great speaker. I find him really charming. I used to blog about him heaps before he was President. Love this photo essay from his college years in Time Magazine. Click image to see it all again. When I was growing up I used to go to dance competitions in New York and Myrtle Beach fairly often. I was in love/obsessed with the American flag.  I had jackets, shorts, shirts, hats GALORE. Jenie and I had matching full sequin flag hats. Snapped this photo at the Boston airport the other day. I love Instagram. In other American news my young Canadian friend from the west coast, Alex Kazemi recently interviewed LANA DEL REY. I love her. Check out his interview here. I’ve been on a bit of an optimism kick this week. I’m working on some exciting projects with awesome people that I will tell you about in DUE TIME. Reminded myself of Optimism Girl last night. Did you know she’s over 16 now? Crazy. This will perk you up no matter what kind of day you’re having. This morning I have a car service taking Sammy & I to Pearson Airport for a luncheon with HP & Air Canada. No, not leaving the country yet though! Will be at the DX3 conference later in the afternoon. Getting really stoked for Austin & SXSW in March. Started prep with my panel mates and loving our ‘Narcism Notes’. Chuckle to myself there haha 😉 Couple goodies from friends for the day:  Album download of Toronto band The Slakadeliqs feat. babe Justin Nozuka (free!) Win a ticket to the CONDO SHOW OR a trip to BAHAMAS from condooutlet.com (on FB) Did you know MIT is starting to offer FREE classes? Oh…

Keeping the Vacation Dream Alive

Happy Sunday. Just got back from my hot tub in the Sky Lounge. I like to think of it as ‘vacation station’. We just ventured to T&T w/ Barbie in the car cause Sammy is cooking dinner. Did you know we he a Professional Chef? He does private dinners. Well that was fun & successful. One last stop at Loblaws and we are good. Stoked for Gervais hosting the Globe’s tonight! We had all the blonde blogging babies out that night. Love those babies. Last night I watched Swingers and now all I wanna do is call my besties babies. All our boys were there too. Love these love birds. Lozzie & Seany. Emma is one of my style ICONS. You can find her managing my fav vintage shop @CTS_Queen. She is a beauty and always has the most rad outfits. Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken

Spend Thursday night with the lovely Minx Raymi her mama and Lois for the last Coug Crawl of 2011. So fun. No, I’m not a coug yet but I’m 100% a fan of The Keg. Used to work at the Cambridge Keg with my sister. We were on the Opening Team and won the Airband Competition at Keg Cup 2005. If you worked at a keg you KNOW Keg Cup is a HUGE dealio. Love is in the air. Keg is full of older dudes on the prowl for young babes, hence, ‘Coug Crawl’. I conveniently had some old drunkish man buy us all Grey Goose shots, we played up that is was Lois’ birthday. (Wasn’t really! moohaha) Love the calculator iPhone case Sean got me. THANKS SEAN! Then we had a blog party. Look how early it is! Check what she’s lookin’ at. Me, meta. Look a hipster died right here on the street! Met up w/ Sammy for some shenanigans. Came home to THIS outside our window. You may remember the Snoetry from last year eh? He’s BACK. Have an awesome day! Last one of the year, yeeeoowwwwwwww! What am I gonna wear? Gah.

Ho Ho Ho! Holidays w/ @ZListcom & @weare1188

Thursday night after ballet Jenie, Sammy & I went to the Z-List Christmas for a drink and had our photo taken with Santa. The high res one will be delivered after the holidays. Next stop was 1188 Films sailor themed holiday party (film studio who did Puma campaign I was in). I shot a bunch of snaps with the new Nikon J1. It’s news to me that Nikon saves the raw photo AND the good photo. Memory card filled up really fast. Maybe I had it on a strange setting? Anyone a Nikon expert? I got two of ever single photo I took. Sean I LOVE YOU. He got me an iPhone case that is a calculator. I’m not too hard to shop for I like all things nerdy, smart and or shiny. He also got me this classic which I can’t wait to read while travelling in January. There were lots of hipster babes at the party including Jenie’s ‘fake boyfriend’ who she did a national Puma ad campaign with earlier this year. I kept mistaking him for Sammy in the crowd. They don’t look THAT alike but the hair, hipsterness did it. Heaps of food all over the place. Man, I love the holidays. Shucking station for oysters. Sammy sexy mother shucker. 1188 Family tree. Cheers to you Sean, thank you for a great party & lovely gifts!!

Cannon Dolls in the Nutcracker w/ The National Ballet of Canada

Do you know the story of the Nutcracker? The little boy & girl and the Nutcracker toy, they go to sleep, the Nutcracker grows to life size and comes alive with the other toys and it’s all very magical. Almost as magical is being on stage in The Nutcraker with the National Ballet of Canada after you’ve dreamed of it your whole life. Add on having Mum, Steve & sister there to watch, double magic. We had a breif rehearsal in the studio. Watched our part, learned the plan, practiced a bit. There were ballerinas everywhere. Concentration happening here. The REAL Peter/Nutcracker, amazing dancer. Buff and masculine. (Casting deets) Sam learning where to walk on stage from dance instructor. Audience was out there. HI MUM! This was cool to me. Get ready time. This brings me back so many memories. I did ballet for 1/3 of my life, those formative years cast a long impression. It was always a dream leave the studio and go to the National Balle, also the only reason I ever fantasized about moving to Winnipeg. Backstage jitters? Nah. All good. We do not have a video of it. Kate’s sister was there and said we were great. Wearing doll cheeks is really fun. I kept them on all night. Used the new Nikon to take a bunch of these shots. Our whole part was over before we knew it and we’re ready to do it again. Time on stage was about 3.5 minutes. You can’t even see the audience with all the bright lights in your face. I love that feeling. There were over 2,000 people in the audience. It was so much fun, have I said that yet?. Mum’s told me a zillion times how great it was, said she’s “spellbound”. I didn’t know…
