Nuvo Burlesque – I’m in an Army of Sass and it’s HOT.

It’s been three weeks of rehearsal for our shows in December. I waited a couple weeks till we had something to show you. I could literally make GIFs of everything we do. Lead by creator & choreographer of Nuvo-Burlesque Carla Catherwood, and commercial choreographer Lindsay Ritter, we are the ARMY OF SASS.

I saw the Electronic Cabaret a few times this summer and I knew I needed to be part of it. This is one of the coolest things I’ve done in the last year (at least). I have a video of us doing a routine but I am shy to show you my skills just yet.

This is a sneak peek of what we’re working on. I hope you come to the show. There are about 50 of us. It is burlesque like you have never seen before and I am SO STOKED to be part of it. My sister Jenie is also in the troupe along with the lovely Jaclyn Genovese, Carolyn Van and a whole bunch of other babes.

  • PERFORMANCE: Friday December 7 & 14, 2012

  • WHERE: The Virgin Mobile Mod Club, Toronto

Until next time my friends,

<3 CASIE & the Army

P.S. If you’d like to dance with us there is a DROP-IN CLASS Wednesday night’s 8:30-9:30pm at King West Fitness. LMK if you decide to come. It will be the highlight of your week!

Work, Work, Worker Bee Babe

Busy day today. This weather is great for working. I was invited to Blundstone, the Australian boot company to check out their new style of shoes.  They come from Tasmania, I’ve been there. Toured a brewery and went to a spa in Hobart. Will share those tomorrow. Have dance tonight at King West Fitness for Nuvo Burlesque’s Army of Sass. I’m stoked. It’s so much fun. Things are going great at work. I really love it here.  Do you love my new glasses? They’re ‘Love’ by Derek Cardigan for Clearly Contacts. I’m terribly excited for Halloween BTW.

Hope you are having an awesome day!

Innovate or Die: Burberry on Social & Style

This video inspired me today. Burberry is the most innovative fashion brands (according to Mashable). I feel they are one of the most innovative brands in the world.  I want to visit the ‘store of the future’ in London.

I’m blown away. I have such a heart on for innovation  My goal is to stay ahead of the influencers and be known as an innovator. I love being GenY and living in such an exciting time. I love technology. I will be a CEO one day.  A stylish one in a burberry trench.

Over & out. 🙂

CIBC Run for the Cure 2012! Team 5318008! We did it!

Yesterday my team 5318008 did the CIBC Run for the Cure. It was so much fun and the weather was FABULOUS! Thank you to everyone who donated. As a team we raised $1,840 and in dividually I raised $160 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Association. I would 100% do it again.

The whole 5K was full of laughs, stories, and fun.

And a bird pooped on Lauren’s head!

I WAS RUNNIN’!

Cheers to my whole team for doing the run. It was nice to use our superpowers for for good. Photo credit to Frikshun & Lauren. Check out her blog at laurenoutloud.com and Sarah’s bloggy at mokouniverse.com

Do something good for someone today. 🙂

Nuit Blanche 2012 Video

I experienced Nuit Blanche last night. The Hip put on an AWESOME show. The Drambuie event at Camera Parts was awesome. Will post some photos from those tomorrow.

For today, check out this rad video by my Jon Simonassi from The Biz Media digital video agency. There was SO MUCH to see last night. Were you out? What did YOU see? LMK!

For one night each year, Toronto’s streets become an outdoor interactive art gallery. Last year our goal was to beat the press and release a video before sunrise the next morning. This year our goal was no different. The crowds were huge, the art was amazing and we were up all night making this video so you can experience it all over again – the very next day.

Nuit Blanche Toronto 2012 was produced by BizMedia
Shot & edited by cinematographer Jon Simonassi

Nuit Blanche 2012 – My Plan for the Night

Tonight is Nuit Blanche and the city is alive with art installaions, music, and culture. It’s one of my fvaourite Toronto events and I’ve taken part since it started back in 2008. Tonight I’m starting with The Tragically Hip and Molson Canadian at Sound Academy. The show isn’t a Nuit Blache event but those are tickets I won’t pass up!

My portrait is featured in an installation called Life Lessons at Funding Matters Gallery  (Zone C 29).  Life Lessons features 311 portraits of community figures who have helped shape the city of Toronto. Other notables ar Margaret Atwood, David Miller, Douglas Coupland, Justin Bieber, Atom Egoyan, George Strombo, David Mirvish, Susur Lee, and Karen Kain. I am extremely honoured to be in this amazing group! The project will be exhibited using Sony HD TV screens displaying life-sized images of each subject at print-quality resolution.

  • When:     September 29th, 2012
  • Time:       7:03 PM
  • Location:  FUNDING matters GALLERY – 33 DUNDAS ST E, TORONTO ON   M5A 2A2 (East of Sherbourne, South side)

See the event page on Facebook to view portraits of other notable people in the Toronto community.

LIFE LESSONS PORTRAIT by TOMORI NAGAMOTO:

One of my fav years was 2009 when I went to U of T then ran into my sister on Queen Street at 3am. Another fav was 2010 when we filmed the video that won me the Virgin America Provocateur title. Here’s a little art history on my Nuit Blanche adventures.

After the Hip and Life Lesson’s exhibit, I’ll be heading to Camera Parts on Queen Street for Drambuie’s Extraordinary Night pop-up installation. It’s definitely something you want to check out as you’re cruising around. We posted about it on the Pulp&Fiber blog at work. Come by to discover your extraordinary side! I should be there about midnight.

I wish you a fun filled night of artistic exploration. If you see me make sure to say HI.

BE THE ART YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

Earlier this week I sat down with Toronto photographer Steve Carty to talk tips for taking great photos for the internet. He’s the awesome photog who took the shots of me with the ice cream and did my intro video.

Early Riser, Morning Sunshine

Woke up early after a super long day. Dance was great last night. Routine to Rack City, no joke. Filmed an episode of Coral TV, comes out tomorrow. Arrived first at the office. Sunshine halo at my desk. I’m so slow leaving the house.  I have a taxi problem. Wore a hat. It’s getting colder. Can’t wait to buy a new bike. Don’t have a case on my iPhone just screen protector. Work is going good. Going the to Casby awards tonight. Seeing the Hip on Saturday. Ready for the weekend. Working full time is tiring but so is freelance. I’ve been drinking less. It’s really sunny today. Maybe I’ll go for a walk at lunch.

You will never be younger than you are today, do something special, do something fun, tell someone you love them.

Have an awesome day,

Shad & Grand Analog Music Video: The Great Rhyme Dropper

20120926-075459.jpg

This weekend Brock, Lauren, my sister, and I were hired to be in the new Shad & Grand Analog video. It should be out before the holidays on MuchMusic. It was so much fun. I love working with the team at 1188 Films. Here’s some pix from behind the scenes. It was hilarious doing green screen. The guys in the band were awesome to work with.

It’s gonna be funny when it arrives on the tele! Woo hoo 🙂
