lay down in the grass and feel the sun on yo face

I always know the start of summer from two distinct things: The first time I have Chippy’s on the grass in Trinity Bellwoods The first outdoor Drum Circle in the pit at the back of Bellwoods Last night, I experienced both. My fish and chips never tasted so good as I got my hands dirty and wiped the grease on my sleeve. It was magical. The sun was shining down on my face sending vibes of energy so bright I could not help myself from just laying in the grass and soaking them up. Welcome summertime, I’m happy you’ve arrived!!

nowhere else you’d rather be than there

You know those days when the sun is shining and you get in the car with a few friends and cruise to the beach or the park. You lay out a blanket followed by food and drinks and you lean back and feel the sun on your face. Your mind is free and in wanders as you feel complete bliss and serenity knowing that there is  nowhere else you’d rather be than there , that very moment in time. I feel like that today, well, a connection to that feeling. This is a me at Newport Beach on Sydney’s North Shore in NSW, Australia. I went surfing for my very first time. It was about 7am and the sun was rising. It was more than beautiful. I met this man in Bondi who’s called the Bondi Groover he said “Life’s not about being naughty, it’s all about 60/40” (in Aussie, that rhymes).

pretty shitty kitty city…meh.

I’m having one of those days where work seems like the hardest thing to do. I want to write and work on things for good causes and take pictures and make art. I picked some lilacs at lunch and sat in the park.  The lilacs smell so pretty,  they create an aroma of spring around me. It’s lovely. I wore a dress today that spins round, this is me in the sunshine. Today is the day I think to myself, you should be a full time blogger. It seems hard and a big jump from having a stable job with catered lunches and benefits. Meh. I wish that day would get here sooner. You spin me right round right round, Irish styles…

mum says i need a helmet

Last night I had a bbq with some of my besties ever. Our boy @NickiP is visiting from Curacao and we took it to the roof and roasted some meat. The sky was full of colour and the tower was unobstructed.Mum rung me last night knowing that I’m back on the bike and insisted that ask I my online friends to help me find something to protect my head. I have always loved riding and when I was younger Mum said “No more riding bike without helmet” and from then on so I never rode a bike until I moved out of the house. I had a BMX bike in Bondi that had pegs on the back. This red cruiser is my favorite. If I’m going to get a helmet, I don’t want to spend a fortune on it. My mum showed me some that she likes so I’ll see if they’ve been reviewed by Helmet Hunt and if I like any. I guess if she keeps nagging, I’ll be getting a helmet! Please help me find a red helmet that’s not mortifying. I want to wear a helmet. Wearing a helmet may not be ‘the coolest‘ but neither is being brain dead. Please leave a comment or link or something if you have any suggestions. Mum wants it to be red too. ?

black and white and red all over

It’s not nearly as warm as it looks outside. The sun is shining and so am I but the air is breezy and cold. I walked past a truck that said ‘smart’ on it and I thought, hey that’s me. There’s three more cases of Swine Flu in the GTA. Mild, but still crazy. I don’t like pigs. They gross me out. I’m glad I never went to Mexico, I don’t think I will ever go now. Not really into dying, there’s lots of other nice beaches that aren’t deadly. I love this spot in the afternoon. The sun shines so very bright. I just got a cheque for retro pay on a raise, exciting but not massive. I’d like a massive cheque with my name on it. Or a trip. Or a new laptop. Or new shoes. I love shoes. I pulled these red boots out from storage. I love red shoes the most. I like red cars too. I used to think red cars go faster. I’ve never had a car. I never needed one. I’d like my first car to be a Porsche. Dad wants a Porsche too. Chatted him today. He’s busy building hot rods. I like that. He sounds happy. I’m happy too.

so what i’m crazy, that gives me freedom

“People will laugh at you because you’re different. You will laugh at them because they’re all the same.” This quote came in Twitter post by an experienced blogger I follow on Twitter named John Chow. People have always said “You’re crazy” or as I dance by myself in the middle of the dance floor with my arms over my head “That’s Casie, she’s crazy“. For a while I thought, “Oh no, they think I’m crazy” but that was followed by thinking, “no, you are just different and they are all the same.” (Yes, I have had this conversation with myself more than once.) I would rather be seen as crazy, than ordinary any day.As soon as someone says that you are crazy, they really give you the power and freedom of expression to do whatever you want. You can transcend all boundaries of what people consider normal, because they already know you’re ‘out there’. This motivates me and gives me encouragement. Stay tuned there is always more here, it comes from somewhere in the universe..

remove ourselves from everyday life

Sometimes I want to escape. Sometimes I want to fly. Sometimes I want to hide away and not see anyone. Sometimes I want to see everyone. I am always different, yet always the same. My thoughts often change and move in different directions. My feelings go up and down and around the corner. My state of mind is a product of my thoughts and feelings. I’ve been looking at a series of artistic photographs by Greg Stekleman. They all have a person removed and replaced with a drawing. Kinda like Tom Goes to the Mayor videos but cooler and more artistic. The guy in the one below is a stud. The couch is ugly but I barely even noticed.

two thousand and shine = simple abundance

“You must first bewho you really are, then,do what you need to do,in order to have what you want.” – Margaret Young This year, again, I am attempting to read the book Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. The reason make another attempt is due to the fact it is written in the style of one page per day starting on January first and I would like to read it as so. The 366 essay’s focus around finding simplicity and living a more content and fulfilling way of life. It is a lovely book. So lovely that this very copy came to me because my mum’s dear friend gave her a copy two years in a row! Ha!
