Thomas Sabo Giveaway & SS 2013 Collection

Today I recieved the 2013 SS Lookbook for Thomas Sabo featuring brand ambassadors Poppy Delevingne and David Garrett. Last month I was in London, UK for the launch of Thomas Sabo SS 2013 a collection that features rose gold and yellow gold plated sterling silver. There are SO MANY nice things. Check it out here! The official launch event was at The Shard London, the tallest (not yet open to the public) building in the entire European Union. It was a totally amazing experience. I met both Poppy and David and there were a whole slew of celebs there including F1 driver Nico Rosberg, Jade Jagger, Sugababes, Ellie Goulding, and some Brazilian soccer stars. I was super impressed with David’s rocker style and ability to play violin so badass. Check this out! In other news,  I was sent a gift for you from Thomas Sabo. Thomas Sabo SS13 Launch at The Shard, London, UK

On December 5th I went to the SS 2013 launch of Thomas Sabo. It was at the Shard London, UK. There had NEVER been an event there and it doesn’t open to the public until FEBRUARY 2013. Amazing experience to be one of the first Canadians in the building and post the first Instagram’s checkins OF LIFE. Ermahgerd. I got to meet Thomas Sabo himself and the new brand ambassadors Poppy Delevingne and David Garrett. Poppy was lovely and energetic with an accent I wish I could borrow. David is an American/German, violin playing, bad boy with long hair, great style, and a beard.  Both total babes. There were a pile of celebrities there including including Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg, Jade Jagger, British Pop group Sugababes and Ellie Goulding. The new GOLDEN SILVER line is all about tri-colour matching Sterling silver, rose gold and yellow gold. I wore that gorgesous dress from Ted Baker London, with a Ted’s purse, vintage jacket, Top Shop tights, Thomas Sabo jewellery, and Jeffrey Campbell shoes. It was so much fun. REAL PEOPLE: The Lanvin FW12 Campaign

I am in love with this campaign. The guy who eats frozen blueberries, the one with out a car, the bearded blonde looking for a grant. My favourite is Former Apollo dancer, Jacquie “Tajah” Murdock, the film ends with her saying, “Well I said that when I was 18 I wanted to go to Paris so he could turn it around and put the eight in front and the one behind it… Eight one, instead of one eight.” In the background you hear Alber Elbaz say, “Paris is coming to you!” With a big “MWAH!”.  It’s magical. I think we’re going to see more ‘real people’ in campaigns. Real people like me and you. The girl with purple hair is NY blogger Stella Rose who writes Confessions of a Female Drag Queen. Her blog is as awesome as her style. I feel like Telus uses real people and Mastercard just did a casting for ‘real people’ for Toronto Fashion Week. I sent in my photo late so the chances of me getting that one are slim.   Sebastian Simon Lifschitz, the one who eats frozen blueberries, used to be a blogger. It is the first time I’ve seen a post on someones blog saying “I don’t really use this blog anymore, if you want to follow me, find me on instagram: sebastianlif”.  I guess times are changing. Change is good.

SummerWorks Performance Festival: Peachy Coochy at the Performance Bar

I subscribe to the Say Media blog and truly love the Venn diagrams that come every Friday morning. This one is from one of my favourite books “Steal Like An Artist”. Tomorrow night, 9:30pm at The Lower Ossington Theatre, a Peachy Coochy performance will grace the stage at the Performance Bar as part of the SummerWorks Theatre Festival. The name comes from the Japanese ‘Pecha Kucha‘ where each presenter has 5 minutes to deliver 15 slides with only 20 seconds for each slide. I know these as Ignite presentations, people do them at conferences sometimes. The cast will be sharing Venn diagrams in a form that is  ‘smart and playful, sweet and earnest, with a healthy dose of cheek’.  See the description on the SummerWorks site. I creeped YouTube for Peachy Coochy and there’s some funny ones. I’m looking forward to this! Write It Down

Write It Down

I’m ready. I’ve always been ready but now I feel it in my bones. The last few days have been filled with excitement, creativity, and I’m stoked about life. I took an adventure into a few notebooks I’ve scribbled in from the stack beside my bed, I was reminded how much I truly love writing. When I was 15 I wrote and published  an anthology of poetry & prose and I never really stopped. I’m keen to have a book written by December 1, 2012. I’m writing it down & telling you to make it real.  In other news, while I was Googling myself in Google Books I found out that BRIAN SOLIS mentioned me in his book “The End of Business as Usual“. I have blogged about him a few times and I love his work. Smart man. My credit in Dear Photograph also came up. I’m taking that as a sign I’m on the RIGHT TRACK baby!

Go Further with Ford 2012 – Part 1

I’d never been to Ford Field. Lots of history here. Home to the Detroit Lions and with it’s 1920’s architecture, has a real street that runs right through it. I’m more of a cheerleader than a football player. Clearly. Bellbottom blue jeans & stripe top from 3F, neon belt is vintage Darling from South Africa, Alix Rose Cowie. She sang us a lullaby in Afrikaans the next night. She also interviewed Die Antwoord for 10and5 magazine in ZA.  Bill Ford is a really rad dude. He went against the grain for Ford Motor Company really pushing for innovation & eco-sustainability. 250 journalists attended this conference representing media from around the world. All meals together. Breakfast the next day was fun because I met my new boyfriend right after… Now my most popular Instagram. He’s charming. Later in the day we went to this really rad place called TechShop and we made stuff. I made a pewter star and frosted beer mug with a huge ‘C’ on it. This clock was one of my fav parts. Next up in Part 2 I’ll share my driving videos and photos from the track! So fun!

$2 Short To Take Over The World

That would be he name of a song in my band if I had a band and wrote songs. I can write but I don’t write many songs. I used to write prose and poetry before I had a blog and that made me very happy. A blog is like a long poetic story, this one about my life. I hope it goes on forever and I will go back and read it, living it over and over again. Each day as if it happened yesterday. A romance. There was something disarming about his smile. I gave him my last cigarette in trade for this photo. I shouldn’t smoke anyways. It’s gross. Tomorrow night I am seeing a band. A band I did not know, but a band I know now. They are called Blind Pilot and they are from Portland. Thank you to my friend Jonathan for being a legit hipster who knows bands ,for opening my ears to this lovely sound. They are playing the dinner at the Ford Design conference. TTC Tales: I’m trapped.

We came to an erect halt and everyone looked around in wonder. That’s not supposed to happen. I can see the train moving on the tracks beside us, but in the opposite direction. The business men beside me are talking about resort skiing through powder and trees. I used to ski. I’m dressed like one of their kids. First thought in my mind is “we got a jumper”. Morbid I know. I blame TV for that. We hear mumbling over the loud speaker and I instantly think of 1984. My mind races and I imagine being trapped down here. I’m glad I have coffee and an almost full bag of Reece’s Pieces minis to tie me over. iPhone is full battery. I forgot headphones. I begin to feel a familiar pain in my chest, anxiety. I remember I have cigarettes and a lighter and I know it’s no smoking but if I never get out of here, I will die happy. The train begins to move. My heart beats normal again. The skiing man smiles at me and we’re moving. The end. * I wondered why the subway was above ground and realized I got so into my story, I missed my stop. Rosedale to Wellesley here I come.

Blog Life: Sometimes I don’t feel like it. #6

Today was a really busy business day and all I feel like doing is getting a huge slice of chocolate cake and sitting on the couch. It’s my fav night for TV, Criminal Minds & Modern Family. I want to shut my brain off but there is no brain off button. I didn’t blog today until now which usually gives me anxiety but to I just didn’t really feel like today. I tweeted, had my hair done and went to a PR event. I made a couple drafts but nothing made it to publish. I’ve been reading poetry while I watch TV that I wrote years ago. I used to write all the time. Did you know I was a published author in 1996? I co-wrote an anthology of poetry and prose. Lots of work from 2003-2008 lives on MySpace in a far away blog from many moons ago. I’ve been thinking about sharing it here, I just might 😉 Updated the old drawing blog Borderline Artistic too. It’s gettin’ artsy around here ladies & gentlemen.  Rogers included part of this old video on my episode last night, which was amazing by the way. Super humbled by the whole thing.
