Uh-huh honey: Converse #MadebyYou + Honey Eyes

Uh-huh honey: Converse #MadebyYou + Honey Eyes

About a week ago I attended a private dinner with some of Converse’s NY team and top ranked influencers in Toronto. We sat down at the Gladstone Hotel to learn about the latest #MadebyYou campaign from Converse and few other treats.

I recently picked up a few new pairs of Air Optix Color contacts from Toronto Eyecare. We were talking about other colours available and I mentioned I’d love to give them a try, so VOILA! These ones are Honey and make my eyes look light brown in the sun. My natural eyes are hazel so there’s a slight difference. See all the colours at airoptix.ca.

Met up with my sister for a late lunch before the Converse dinner. She’s really so lovely. Follow her on Twitter or Instagram @jeniestewart.

Got the new HISY Selfie bluetooth remote recently. It’s a little black button that connects to your phone via Bluetooth and allows you to take snaps by touching the remote. It’s at the Apple store for $28+tax but you can get it on Amazon here.

Love that sunshine on my face.  It’s always fun to look at my eyes as a different colour. These honey ones are a subtle difference. I reckon they’d look really neat on greener eyes and interested to see what they do to blue ones.

My latest and greatest Converse from the Andy Warhol Collection. Tomato Soup wasn’t available in my size at the time but I was sent a pair of Black Bean Soup and I love them.

Nice to sit beside my old friend Jalani. He’s a great photographer and person, you can find him online at jalanimorgan.com or @JalaniMorgan on Twitter.

We were all asked to customize a pair of Converse with our name. This pair is one of a kind and made by me. They’re actually a size too big so I am going to keep them forever then one day when I’m famous I’ll sell them in an auction and donate the money to a charity close to my heart. Pretty bada$$ tho.

We each had the opportunity to have the shoes we wore to the event shot by a professional photographer. In a quick thought of inspiration, I threw on some red lipstick and gave mine a kiss. I needed something to make them more unique!

Friends who wear Converse together, stay together.

Here you can see what the Honey contacts look like in artificial/indoor lighting. Not AS bright but still a bit different than my natural eyes. Changing them is fun.

Huge thanks to Mikki and the Converse team for inviting me and the opportunity to customize my own Converse. Had a blast hanging with my blog peeps over a delicious dinner.

My Bloggy Lies Over the Ocean

My Bloggy Lies Over the Ocean - Casie Stewart

My Bloggy Lies Over the Ocean - Casie Stewart

Oh hey, guess who? It’s me your friend from across the internet. Working away at the computer most the day. Monday is my ‘don’t leave the house and write as much as you can’ day. Spend a bunch of time sitting on the couch with my Macbook yesterday but fell into scrolling things on the phone, deep into a Netflix binge and did nothing from my To Do list.

I find the weekends are really important for me to chill out. I used to blog every single day and it was really draining. Now, I aim for 5 posts per week and if I feel inspired to write a few more, good for me. The more documenting the better.

Today when I did leave the house I was at Lit Espresso bar on Roncy and the staff were trying to name one of the girl’s blog. A staffer guy said ‘My Bloggy Lies Over the Ocean’ and I thought it was so funny, got totally distracted paying for my sweet treat. Title today inspired by that guy, good one buddy!

These are my latest glasses from Polette Eyewear in France. I really love them, they sit high on the face and the thin frame is different than any other glasses I have. L’usine à lunettes by polette offers highly-competitive prices, no compromise on the quality. Frames from $9.99 to $49.99 and lenses from $9.99 to $89.99. I love that they have HEAPS of different selections. They’ve just launched E-Pollette, lenses that protect your eyes from screens. SO SMART. Ordering those next.

I’m working on a new site that will HELL OVER HIGH WATER launch by my blog’s 10th birthday. I want to have a place to show off my actual work, more than just a blog. I do heaps aside from this blog to make money, the struggle is real (read it here). I want to be able to show that stuff off.

Oh man, I can’t believe it’s been so long. Where did the time go? I better set some really high goals (like the moon) for the next 10 years. I’m also planning to re-read my entire blog as part of the book writing experience. Yes, the book is still coming. I think it’s going to be more like September. I need to be up at the cottage and relaxing to write. Q1 of this year has been so incredibly busy.

We have both been working late heaps the last couple months. Captured a selfie w/ my fav lumbersexual.

Ok, enough 50 Shares marketing attempts. 50 Shades of white? For home decor? Urgh.

This is how Monday feels. AMIRIGHT?

\

We were having an issue with power charger for the computers at home/office so I made sure you can’t miss mine. This was taken 2 years ago in California at the Santa Monica pier.  We had so much fun on that trip. Really missing that Cali sun right now.

IN OTHER NEWS, Pet Skills goes LIVE tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 31st from 7 to 8:30 p.m. EST (the premiere goes live at 8 p.m. EST). It’s the first live + interactive pet talent show in the world. You can tune in at petskills.tv to watch or audition.

OK, time for me to take a break from working and make something to eat snack on those weekend takeout leftovers. Hop you’re having a great day!

Ben’s at Home Win’s best Feature at Canadian Film Fest!

Ben’s at Home Win’s best Feature at Canadian Film Fest!

This weekend I went to the Canadian Film Festival premiere of Ben’s At Home, directed by my friend Mars  Horodyski and Dan Abramovici. It’s a romantic comedy where Ben decides to stay home and not leave his house. In doing this there’s some drama, laughs, and romance.

HUGE congrats to Mars and Dan for winning BEST FEATURE  at the festival. They’ve been picked up for distribution AND have a web series on the way. So neat to see someone you know really killing it. I’m looking forward to the web series as Ben blogs about staying home for an entire year. I couldn’t even imagine doing that!

Another cool thing about the premiere was the short film before that starred Donnie form Orphan Black (Kristian Bruun). Soon as he came on screen I was like ‘omg, it’s Donnie, I love him!’. Little did I know he was sitting right in front of me.Facepalmlm.  That’s him beside the guy holding the mic below.

Check out the trailer for Ben’s at Home the web series below. All views help them in a chance to win funding to produce it, so give it a watch!

These are roses Sean got me after my Army of Sass performance last week. They’ve bloomed so beautifully. Being in love is the best.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Muse, The Brain Sensing Headband

Muse, The Brain Sensing Headband

I first tried Muse a few months ago when the weare1188 office got one. It was right at the start of film fest and my calmness level was nonexistent. By the end of TIFF, my Muse session showed a very high level of calm. This, I’m sure you can understand. “Muse is the mental equivalent of a treadmill, which helps you exercise your brain with focused attention training.”

As an easily distracted person who’s always on the go, focussed attention training is something I could work on. I have been working on it the last month with a new headset fro Future Shop as part of the Tech Crew I’ve joined. Over the next few months I’ll be sharing my experiences with new gadgets and also giving some away for you to try.

First up, Muse, the brain sensing headband.  “It improves your attention by training you to become aware of your distractions quicker and react faster to regain focus on what you’re doing.” You can read more about Muse and brain training at choosemuse.com.

Scroll down to see some of my session data and WIN your very own Muse.

How Muse Works

Once you download the app, you connect headphones, and place the headband on your forehead. The 5 sensors light up in different colours to let you know it’s connected.

In order to calibrate the device you need to make sure the sensors are working. This is a screenshot of mine fully connected.

After a brain training session you’e given some data about how active/calm your brain was.

As you can see in this session, I was pretty calm. Until the end!

Please enter below win a Muse headset from Future Shop. Contest is open to anyone in Canada except Quebec (Sorry MTL friends!). You’re able to enter each day. Invite your friends! Contest closes in one week! Best of luck!

The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.

I dunno what it is about this time of year of this weather but it’s really got me down. I was feeling so meh today I could have just crawled into bed and played on my phone for 2 hours until I fell asleep.

I know it’s going to be raining heaps the next few weeks and luckily I’ve got a nice coat to keep me dry. Had this baby in my closet for months and it’s finally mild/wet enough to wear it. Thank you Stutterheim + WRG in Montreal for hookin’ a sista up! David Beckham and Jay-Z have them too. The brand was started by a Andrew Stutterheim, Swedish copywriter turned fashion designer, read about him here. Cool story bro.

I was lucky to spend the afternoon with a great friend and have some laughs while we worked away.  I took her some tulips and she gave me some sunshine. She also made me a delicious lunch which is always a treat!

Tomorrow night is our second Army of Sass show. I’ve skipped out on a lot of fashion week stuff this week to train tonight and perform tomorrow. I really don’t mind. I laughed my a$$ off at rehearsal and we worked up a sweat with drills, exercises, and practise. Nothing like a great group of girls, a wicked routine, and good workout to boost you UP. BTW if you ever want to join up and come to my class, lmk. There’s a couple spots left I think!

I’ve got a post coming with a pretty rad giveaway and I was planning to post it this morning yesterday but the day got away from me and I will share it today.

If you wanna come to the show tomorrow night, get a ticket HERE or at the door. Mod Club, 9pm, show starts at 10.

Here’s some beautiful flowers in case you need a cheer up too 🙂casie stewart, toronto, blogger, speaker, influencer, "this is my life"

Blogger Essentials: What’s in My Bag + New Shades

Blogger Essentials: What’s in My Bag + New Shades

As a blogger there’s a few things you need to have especially around fashion week, camera, phone charger, biz cards, stamina, and a good attitude. It can be really exhausting! Tonight I’m meeting Lauren at the WMCFW tents to attend the VAWK show together.

In my purse you’ll find ALL these things:

  • Canon Digital SLR – mine is Rebel SL1
  • GoPro camera
  • Boxed water – gotta stay hydrated!
  • Sunglasses – never leave home without them! How amazing are these bright orange ones!?!? They’re from Polette Eyewear in France. See more about my partnership with them HERE.
  • Packet of Dermalogica PreCleanse wipes – on the go makeup fix or when you get home realllllly tired.
  • MyTagAlongs SOS Beauty Kit – safety pins, nail file, tweezers, sewing kit. This little pouch has everything!

Love this new lip stain by BITE Cosmetics.  It’s the colour I was wearing on set yesterday for the ‘secret project’ show I was filming at NKPR. I was also given the Line & Define lip primer, feels great on and smells nice too.

Learned about this awesome product from my makeup artist yesterday Jodi Urichuk. It’s amazing for giving your skin a nice GLOW.  Get it here -> PRTTY PEAUSHUN Skin Tight Body Lotion.

Get out and enjoy some of that sunshine today. Hopefully it will start feeling like spring SOOOOOOOON!

With love, CASIE

Starting Fashion Week with a BANG! #WMCFW

Starting Fashion Week with a BANG! #WMCFW

Hi from the NKPR office s where I’ve been on set all day for an exciting new show. I can’t say anything else about it for now but soon enough you’ll know. Today marks the start of World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto and it’s going to be a busy one.

Huge thanks to Jodi Urichuk for a great job on makeup today (Follow her IG at @JodiUrichuk). Over the weekend I had a reaction from my eyelash extensions so I was all puffy and red. I had them taken off yesterday and most of the swelling wend down but they were still looking kinda rough this morning.

You can’t even tell, eh?

In spirit of WMCFW, remember when I walked the runway in SS12? I was wearing a custom Peach Berserk dress and walked right onto the runway after being at SXSW. I loved it. Super rad that I was wearing Doc’s too.

Tonight I’m at a Bacardi Legacy event but will be at the tent’s tomorrow for WMCFW. Here’s to a great week! Stay tuned on my Snapchat for up to the minute stories! FOLLOW ME at CASIESTEWART.

Can Your Goldfish Do The Backstroke? #PetSkills

Can Your Goldfish Do The Backstroke? #PetSkills

Over the past few weeks I’ve been doing some work with Stage TEN tv. One of the first projects is a new show called Pet Skills, it’s a live, interactive show where pets audition, you vote, and they win prizes. I’m putting this out to YOU because I’d LOVE to see some of your pets on the show!

Email some info on your pet’s amazing skill to [email protected] and we’ll follow up to arrange your audition. You won’t have to leave the house to do it, the audition will be recorded on your handy smartphone/camera.

That’s all for now! Off to MOD CLUB for our 50 Shades show w/ Army of Sass. TBH, kinda nervous! You can get tickets at the door if you wanna come. It’s HOT!

With love,

CASIE

OMG High On Life! More Hours In The Day, Please?

This art is by mr. Brainwash. A good reminder that sometimes you may feel like you're going the wrong way with your crazy ideas but you should follow them, you have a strong imagination. It will guide you!

The last couple weeks have been kinda crazy and I’m feeling like there’s more where it all comes from. Last night’s rehearsal for Army of Sass was AWESOME. I’m stoked for our show. Are you coming? Get a ticket here.  I’m currently working on a slew of things including TWO shows. Ahhh! I feel like I’m constantly rushing around on high speed. I’m dreaming about opening the cottage and relaxing.

I’ve got something cool to share with you tomorrow. Tonight I’ve got a dinner with Converse and I’m really looking forward to it. Meeting my sister shortly to shoot something for an upcoming project. It’s like I’ve spent 10 years working my ass off to try and build something and I feel it’s finally coming together. Come Friday after the show I’ll be SO ready for a cocktail to celebrate this week.

Travel Tuesday: Vacations Aren’t Just for Soaking Up Sun!

Travel Tuesday: Vacations Aren’t Just for Soaking Up Sun!

Dreaming of an experiential vacation – wine tasting in Italy, yoga in India, surfing in Costa Rica, visiting Lower Shotover New Zealand to go Bungee Jumping?

People often think of vacations as a jaunt away to soak up the sun but one way to REALLY enrich your life is a vacation where you learn something or take on a new experience. An RV vacation is a very popular choice for many people who want to go and see new sights and cultures from the comfort of their own vehicle. Those that do embark on such a vacation will want to make sure they have quality equipment, like Lifeline rv batteries, on board before doing so.

A couple years ago I went on a solo surf + yoga vacation to Costa Rica, it was so much fun. Visiting this country was on my bucket list and I had always wanted to tick it off. With this being said, if it wasn’t for a friend of mine recommending I checked out a site like https://små-lån.com (as she knew I was struggling financially), I don’t think this trip would have been possible, but I am glad that I was able to make this happen. While I was there, I learnt how to do aerial silks and perfected my wave riding skills in the ocean. This was the little cabin I stayed at in the jungle at Anamaya Resort.

In 2013, I ventured to Thailand and took a cooking class in one of my fav cuisines. I came home with new skills and a bright outlook on a different culture.

I recently chatted with TD Canada Trust about how to make an experiential vacation a reality. These types of vacations are often seen as more costly and harder to plan. BUT, if you knuckle down and plan it out, you can have the experiential vacation of your dreams. Today I’m sharing some tips on how to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 3.56.57 PM

According to their recent survey, 62% of Canadians are likely to consider going on an experiential vacation if they could find ways to save on costs. This is understandable, but it is not impossible to find good holiday deals. We don’t have to break the bank to visit another country. It may also be worth checking out these handy holiday saving tips to hopefully find a way to save for the trip of your dreams!

Fortunately, TD Canada Trust has tips on how to help make your experiential vacation affordable with travel loyalty rewards and/or creating a vacation savings account. It starts with knowing the full cost of the trip.

Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 12.27.53 PM

Here’s something to think about from VP of TD Credit Cards, Christine Hunter:

“A lot of people think experiential vacations cost more than ordinary vacations, but that doesn’t have to be the case…. It all depends on where you want to go and what you want to do, but you can always find ways to help you save that could make your trip more affordable.”

On that note, my goal this year is to visit Paris, France for the first time and take a lesson in French cooking. Thanks TD Canada Trust for the tips because I think it’s about time I open a bank account for vacation saving.
