I’m going to @Disneyland in California!

I’ve been invited to the happiest place on EARTH! Yes, it’s true. I’ll be spending six days next month in sunny California touring Disneyland, staying at THE Disneyland Hotel, and hanging out in the OC and LA with their tourism boards. It’s every  girls dream come true! I’m hoping to recreate a photo of me with Mickey Mouse that was taken when I was a toddler. Mum, did you find that yet? These pix are from the Disneyland archives (via LA Times) and this little ticket is the first one ever sold. It’s been a while since I had a vacation and I can’t wait. Disney has also invited my BFF Lauren, a bunch of other bloggers, and I’m bringing my BF. I’ve never been so thankful to be  a blogger! I can see me wearing tulle, and Mickey Mouse ears the whole time. Ahhhhh! I’ll be sharing  moments as they happen on Twitter/Instagram and documenting the entire trip with my new Canon DSLR. Canon Blogtography – Step Outside of Auto!

A couple weeks ago I announced my partnership with Canon as a Brand Ambassador and over the past month  I’ve been playing around with my new DSLR. The Canon Rebel SL1 is a compact 18 mega pixel camera with touch screen and whole bunch of features I’m not quite versed in yet.  I have heaps to learn.  Canon has awesome resources and I’ve been playing on canonoutsideofauto.ca but the real way I’m going to learn is TAKING PHOTOS. I’m just getting used to using a DSLR. I’ve got a pretty good eye for composing a nice shot but right now aperture and ISO feel like new languages. Once I  learn and understand exposure (ISO, shutter speed and aperture), I’ll be in business. I know it won’t take too long! I’ve been playing around with ISO and exposure. It’s super neat how one photo can be so different by changing just one or two things. This little Rebel has built in filters too. So, naturally I took a few selfies in the park to test them out. This weekend I’m shooting Digital Dreams music festival and in August I’ll be shooting Disneyland and California! Staring in next month have a weekly fashion column for Dose.ca. This is where those Canon skills will really come into play. I’m excited to take my blog to the next level! Below are a few photos I took using (gasp) auto to get used to using the camera.  One of the most beautiful things, a perfect avocado! Limba the 50 year old elephant at Bowmanville Zoo. Canon Canada 2013 Ambassador – Casie Stewart

This is my new Canon Rebel SL1. It’s the worlds smallest and lightest DSLR. I’m super excited to have received it last night from Canon as part of their first ever  ambassador program. They’ve chosen five top bloggers in Canada to learn to use different Canon cameras in different ways. From now till December, I’ll be stepping up my photo game and learning how to really use this thing.  I’m amazed at some of the features and stoked to take my skills to the next level. I’ve never had a DSLR before! My first ever digital camera was a Canon Powershot and I replaced it several times after losing and breaking it beyond repair. Dailybooth Archive 2009-2012, This Is My Life in Photos.

Ok computer, anyone remember Dailybooth? DailyBooth was the original photoblogging site for people to take a photo each day with a caption. The goal was “your life in photos” in order to document and share. It allowed you to post on Twitter and follow other users within the service for  real-time updates. I loved it. Wrote about my Dailybooth romance in this post. Last year in Auston for SXSW I met a Dailybooth friend IRL. It was awesome! In August, 2009, the site had over 3 million unique visitors a month with a growth rate of about 35% a month.[2] On 11 November 2012, it was announced that Dailybooth was closing down, with users able to access and download their content until 31 December. The site was completely deleted after that.  Demi, Ashton, and iJustine used to use it heaps. I download all my nearly 800 photos from my database and put them in a video as a memory. That’s why I started blogging in the first place, to keep more memories. I learned how beat map photos in iMovie when I made this. I’m no expert video editor but I’d like to get better at it. I’m hoping to get a new camera soon so I can start filming some epic si*t. Huzzah! I’m the couch at the cottage watching movies and computing all day. It’s great! Happy Sunday 🙂 <3 CASIE  RIP!
