TRAVEL | Vegas, Baby! #CES2017

First trip of 2017 starts bright and early tomorrow morning. I’m heading to LAS VEGAS! I’ll be joining a bunch of journalists + influencers from North America for CES and my trip is sponsored by Harman Kardon (JBL, Bang & Olufsen etc). They’re hosting us at the Hard Rock Hotel and on Friday night they’ve got STING playing a concert in the hotel bar. I AM SO EXCITED.  Aside from my set itinerary, I’ll be exploring the conference floor, attending talks, and rounding up all the hottest tech trends. ▶︎ Later this month I’m speaking on a panel at WeAreWearables Toronto about tech trends from CES. Get a ticket for it here! I’m also checking out VR stuff for Sean’s company Occupied VR. I can’t wait. CES is so freaking exciting. I went a couple years ago, tech heaven! It’s also a bit warmer there than Toronto. I’m also hoping to check out the Neon Sign Museum and maybe do a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon. After Vegas, I’m driving to LA with a friend and staying in Venice Beach for the week. I can’t wait to document this trip.

Travel | Got Wanderlust? Take That Trip!

As winter starts to creep up on us I find myself looking back through old blog posts of my travels. I’m keen to book a trip for Sean and I for a little R&R under the sun early 2016. I’m thinking Dominican Republic, Cuba, or Costa Rica. I’m dying to feel sand on my skin and salt water in my hair! ?? Over the last few years I’ve been to Thailand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and LA during the winter. I absolutely LOVE to travel but preparation is key if you want to have a good time for example, a travel shoe bag is a must for me and I don’t travel without them. Also, if you don’t manage your money right, it can be expensive. Up until a few years ago I didn’t even have a credit card because I was still paying off my student debt from school. This doesn’t mean to say that just because you’re at university, you can’t have a credit card; those studying away from their home country can still get a credit card for International Students. Having a card with travel rewards was really important to me now. I want to get something back from all the purchases I make on my trips. I’m also really interested in qantas credit cards which are another travel-based provider, as they offer rewards for frequent flyers which is certainly what I am! I would rather take a great trip in the winter to boost my inspiration and pay it off my credit card, than not go at all and let the winter blues get me down. You never know what’s going to happen, YOLO! I’ve partnered with a Capital One Canada one to tell you about their new and improved line of Capital One Aspire Travel MasterCards.…

The Future of Technology | Google+ The HuffPost Live Story

Something interesting happened yesterday and it turned out to be something pretty awesome! It all involves The Internet, social networks, content, blogging, and a little bit of luck I reckon. It starts with this photo… Remember my post  about the ‘Other’ folder in Facebook? Well one of the 99+ messages in there was from a video agency in Venice Beach, California (one of my fav places in the WORLD!) and they messaged me a few months ago to use one of my photos in a video. I did not see the message because it was in the ‘Other’ folder, basically the spam department of Facebook.  In the message, they offered to pay me for the use of my photo. I took a chance an emailed her back to see if 1) they used my photo and 2) if the offer still stands. Turns out it did! Little did I know, the video was for HuffPost Live about the way the web has changed journalism and HuffPost’s use of Google+. Well la di da! I chatted with Tim McDonald from HuffPost Live a few months before I got the email about this video and I don’t think either one is connected. Crazay!  The photo used in the vid was a selfie I took at SXSW 2012 in Austin, Texas inside the WordPress booth at the convention centre. If you look closely, you’ll see WordPress in the background, the video doesn’t show the logo for obvious reasons.  Oh man I miss that acid wash denim jacket, it’s long gone now. Google+: The HuffPost Live Story I’m in the first ten seconds, wait for it! Find me on Google+ here btw. Here’s to the magic of the internet, content that stays online forever, and the power of connecting. You never know what’s gonna happen but if you put out good vibes…

2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California

We had so much fun cruising around in the 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California. We randomly decided to get a rental once we got to the hotel and I’m so GLAD they had this. It was $25 more per day than a compact car  from Hertz and so totally worth it! You deff need a car in LA. I can’t imagine being on vacation or living there without a car. I loved hitting the open road and driving to the beach, top down of course. I loved Venice Beach the most. It reminded me so much of where I lived in Bondi Beach in Australia. Did you know that the real Abbot Kinney was a tobacco millionaire who founded it in 1905? Oh the things you learn on Wikipedia.

I Saw a Peacock, with a fiery tail

Anonymous (before 1665) These following are to be understood in two ways. I Saw a Peacock, with a fiery tail, I saw a Blazing Comet, drop down hail, I saw a Cloud, with Ivy circled round, I saw a sturdy Oak, creep on the ground, I saw a Pismire, swallow up a Whale, I saw a raging Sea, brim full of Ale, I saw a Venice Glass, Sixteen foot deep, I saw a well, full of mens tears that weep, I saw their eyes, all in a flame of fire, I saw a House, as big as the Moon and higher, I saw the Sun, even in the midst of night, I saw the man, that saw this wondrous sight.
