raining cats and blogs

I love it. The thunder in the sky. The energy that lights up the dark clouds when lightning strikes. The pounding of rain drops on windows of cars as they drive on the wet pavement. I jump every time it rattles the windows and I screech a little with excitement. I enjoy the rush, it scares me a little but I like it. I’m reminded of being in Florida last month. We were at a late night pool party and the air was damp with humidity as it had been hot all day. There was a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder.  It felt like only a second before the rain poured down. It was warm and wet and felt soft on my skin. I was in my bathing suit but  I wanted to be free. I removed it and tossed it into a pile. There in the hot Florida night I danced naked in the rain.  Arms over my hear to the beats of the music. I was free at last.

add some spice to your life already

Girls were working out in the park.  They start in a circle then change formation to watch the teacher. I stopped to have a sit in the grass and relax.Needed to  cool down from the hot heat on the bike ride. Was tired on the bike today, really warm out today. Humid. Sat down for a cold refreshing one on the bench and felt calm.  Gonna get a new style today. The stuff is in my hair is hot and it feels like I’m in direct afternoon sunlight on a hot summer day.  It kinda burns a bit but it’s good.  I’m starting to get excited for Pride. I get talking about past times and all the girls start calling and we make plans.  OMG its so fun.  I love. Its hot, burning right now a bit. I love coming here. I was so crazy with a mind a racin’ that I wasn’t relaxed. Now I’m relaxed. Beautiful outside right now, lovely. I looked at your picture but it wasn’t you it was an inposter of you circa something. I laughed. Facebook on phone means double notifications and major annoyance. Don’t like it. Do like getting my hair done. The colour is setting in.  Its gonna be bright. I’m  gonna freak out at first like I always do then love it. It’s going to be perfect for the weekend. I love it.

it has its benefits

I realized this morning as I put on my new vibrating mascara followed by my unreleased Givenchy fragrance that blogging really does have its benefits. Mum reminds me sometimes.  I’m always thinking about the next step. Last year I got a heap of cool jazz. Last night I got invited to Dermologica thanks to Marie from Karmacake.ca. I left with a whole skin care routine specific to what I like/need to make my face look extra lovely. It’s fun to meet other bloggers and this time it was all girls who were all very nice.  I’m excited to see where this bloggy takes me, it’s growing and I’m having lots of fun writing it. I’m also thankful for the opportunities it’s given me! I like going back and reading crazy thoughts that came out of my head and I often wonder “what was I thinking?”. It’s part of the fun of having a crappy memory!  Sometimes when I have a bad day or feel like crap it’s comments from you that completely change my mood and make me smile. Thanks for reading it. The new Wired just arrived at my desk…it’s a good day.

island adventure guy

I had a stellar weekend. It was super sunny and I made the most of it. On Saturday I went to the island with Raymi , Phil and friends. Lots happening on the island on a lovely Saturday. There were heaps of kids in interesting costumes. I wanted to get close to take their photos but didn’t bother.  I’ll just keep those memories to myself. There’s  an art installation that plays music when you bike. We found it to be quite fun. The island it really pretty. I haven’t been for ages. Next time I’ll take my bike for sure. There’s a zillion photos from the whole day. This is the art work out, good thing Raymi got it on video so you can enjoy reliving the excitement. There’s more photos Raymi’s blog. She posted yesterday. I slacked off and made a nice dinner for friends and avoided the internet. The ferry ride back to the mainland is way more fun once you’ve spent the afternoon in the sun drinking beer. We all went back to my house for some pizza and swimming. It was great.

added information or an observation

I recently met Sean Ward. He writes a blog, draws cartoons, raps and is one cool ass dude. After we met he checked out my blog and left a few comments. That sparked his idea about  the etiquette behind blog commenting. Especially when you just met the person or aren’t part of that blog’s community. We shared some thoughts over Facebook this week about our feelings on the topic. The conversation can be found on Sean’s awesome blog at seanward.net.

a new video show on the internet

Got home from the walk and started chatting about the Kangaroo thing and how silly it was. In July I got an email, then I started a Facebook thread and lots of people heard about it including blogTO. I got a call from PETA while at the LCBO on the Friday night. It was the LA office who had heard from the UK that live Kangaroos were going to be at a dirty crowded downtown club. Saturday came around and there was a statement released, Kangaroos would not be outside the club in a cage. A job well done. Rollerderby was really fun. There are some really good pix on blogTO today. I got a great video of Aeryn. I met Aeryn ‘Dust Bunny” a long time ago and had no idea she was Captain of the Gore-Gore Rollergirls. They have hot outfits. Rollerderby is a very rough sport but don’t mind watching it. I sat in the suicide seating section for the second half, it’s right on the ground. They go fast man…and go in circles. The Gore-Gore girls won and I’m not surprised, they were killer, they are the ‘Burlesque girls who rose from the dead to exact their revenge. . . on wheels.’ Hot.

outside seems so much more appealing

I dressed like winter today. I have no idea why. I woke up and was whining ‘it’s cold‘ meanwhile staring at the Weather Network on Blackberry seeing 21 degrees and partly cloudy. I’m a dress/skirt girl. I wore pants and a hat and a big frumpy wooly sweater.  I prove to myself  all my thoughts I’ve had for two days of  ‘I’m not feeling great’.  It’s Friday afternoon and the office is quiet and I know there are beers being had on patios around me.  School next door has free drinks after work and all of a sudden I feel better. The phone rings and it’s Mum who’s calling from the boat up North and has the day off.  It’s lovely to hear her and chat but I’m in the office and have been working really hard can’t leave yet and have more work to do and don’t really have the time to chitty-chat and get sidetracked. We always talk about blog for a minute or two.  She misses it today because there’s no internet yet on the boat for blog reading.  I told her I laid in the grass at lunch and had a smoke and it was nice and sunny on my face.  I get to the point where I have to say “MUM, I’ve got to go‘ in a stern voice and I feel like a character in a chicklit book trapped at the office. I like it.   The book is being written as I live it out each day.  It’s my favorite story. I like this picture.  I like how little my feet are. These babies are a kids size 3 in the US and 2.5 in the UK. That’s mini. Do you follow me on Twitter yet? That would be a damn shame if…

wow, you’re all so good looking

The other day I had a lovely evening with some of TO’s best bloggers.  I’m quite happy to be included in the best and would have been really pissed if I wasn’t.  Seriously.  It was really awesome to meet the other blog kids, most of whom I only know from le internet.  I was surprised to really see how different we all are. Each person brings to the mix a different perspective on life and a different creative process of putting it online through their blog. This is a pic of a few of them, you can see more of the Toronto local bloggers on Flickr. From left to right I have Vanessa from Vaneska.com, Ted Healy from Dead Robot, Sean Ward, Lisa Charleyboy from UrbanNativeGirlStuff, Raymi The Minx, and of course yours truly. We had Julian Brass of Notable TV there documenting the evening as we build Toronto’s first Top bloggers network. There is so much opportunity for advertisers to reach Toronto’s people through our blogs that get read by thousands of cool TO people and HEAPS of others around the world. If you want to chat about opportunities don’t hesitate to leave comment or contact me.  I’m stoked about where this is heading!! My dream of being a full time blogger WILL come true! Andrew Lewis has some good pix of us all.  Nice one of me here.

we’re obviously huge nerds

A couple weeks ago I got together with some of the organizers behind the greatness that has now become the #genyto Meetups. After one month hiatus the meetup group is ready to rock on June 11 2009 at Pogue Mahone (Bay & College). This time it’s during NetChange week and is the official Thursday afterparty. These are the times I wish I was freelance so it didn’t matter what day of the week I planned a massive drink up. Urgh… I’ll be at NetChange on June 10 speaking about PR & Social Media for Charity etc. More detauls to come. Was quite honored when the founder of Redwire asked me to participate and speak about stuff I do. Tonight I join Toronto’s finest and funnest bloggers at the Spoke Club for a special meeting. Looking forward to it the drinks and hanging with babes like Sass & Raymi.  I’m stoked to meet some of the other top 12 in this fine city!! Ok, more Florida pix. Me in car and Miami Beach…at night.

he called it a ‘blog day afternoon’

This is my Dad with Jenie & Me. It’s in our backyard at the house I grew up in.  Mum still lives there and I love going home and sitting in my old room. I chuckle each time I see a picture of me as  kid because I make all the same little faces. The cute ones, the cheeky ones, the sad ones and all the other silly ones. Mum says I used to sit in front of the mirror for hours and chat to myself or practice making faces. Shocking, lol. i’m blushing now

because he wrote this. “There is a reason I started all this gibberish, or at least there was … I had a moment today, a kinky one. Which is true, and it was a moment of pure joy to click on the Awesomest Blog Ever and find a blog void of gibberish. It was one of those moments that can change a man’s attitude about himself and his life for a while… Like the time a man first shaves his balls and realizes he just became that much closer to being just like David Lee Roth in his hey-day… Unchained! And unchained she is… Fun, Honest, Humble and Authentic are just a few of the words I can use to describe this modern artist, without even knowing her or her character. But I can say this… Her genuine nature comes through in her blog and coming from a professional Gibberish Rustler, take it as a lesson… Her words have the power to shrivel nuts of the toughest Gibberish Rustler and make them fall off the body like raisins off a bush. Lucky for me I’m not that tough…“ read it and comment, if you have feelings ♥

lots of toes in yoga pants

I meant to post this yesterday, but forgot to hit ‘post’. Unfortunately, I was not feeling good and hated the Internet. I puked and had a nap at work. Here we go… This weekend, after making some delicious walnut bran muffins (naturally) I stopped in to the MTCC to check out the Yoga & Pilates conference. It was a very relaxed place to be since I had been at #pibTO and broke a world record earlier. I ran into some friends and also checked out some cool products. My favorite was the purses & accessories made from cork, which deserve their own post.Overall, it was probably much more interesting if you actually took a class. I just cruised around and listened to some musica. This is a video of the Hare Krishna mantra. Sing along, watch it on repeat, it’s catchy, trust me. It might even take you to a higher state of consciousness. My friend & yoga teacher Jonny is in India right now, he has a blog called Yoga Bar.Hare Krishna at the Yoga Conference from me on vims. When the sixteen names and thirty-two syllables of the Hare Krishna mantra are loudly vibrated, Krishna dances on one’s tongue – Stava-mala-vidyabhusana-bhasya, Baladeva Vidyabhusana in Bhaktisiddhanta’s Gaudiya Kanthahara 17:30

If you don’t know, I won it in their Holiday Do Gooder contest. I love it. It make me very happy to share all kinds of random snipits of my life with the world. Like this little guy:
