My Boston Marathon 2013

* Note – I wrote this yesterday before the bombings happened in Boston. I was there all weekend. Thought I shoudl do a little update so I didn’t seem insensitive or something. It’s really horrible what happened. A friend shared this really great article in The Atlantic about the whole thing and I share it with you. “We actually have all the power here, and there’s one thing we can do to render terrorism ineffective: Refuse to be terrorized. It’s hard to do, because terrorism is designed precisely to scare people — far out of proportion to its actual danger. A huge amount of research on fear and the brain teaches us that we exaggerate threats that are rare, spectacular, immediate, random — in this case involving an innocent child — senseless, horrific and graphic. Terrorism pushes all of our fear buttons, really hard, and we overreact. But our brains are fooling us. Even though this will be in the news for weeks, we should recognize this for what it is: a rare event. That’s the very definition of news: something that is unusual — in this case, something that almost never happens. “  Read the full article here ORIGINAL POST from April 15th, 2013 12:30pm The actual Boston Marathon is today and I know a few people in it. I’m not much of a marathon runner (yet) but my weekend in Beantown was somewhat of a marathon too. We had an awesome time! I wish I was there longer to check out more sights and do more things. We’re already planning to visit again in this summer. Hugest thank you to my friends there for taking us around and showing us an amazing time. Feeling refreshed and ready for a great week! Make it a great one 🙂 [View the story “Toronto > Boston >…

How Secure is Your Social?

I don’t talk much about Internet security but for someone who uses heaps of apps and has tons of info online, I really should pay more attention to this stuff! I know my girl Keri Blog will be happy I’ve learned about this app, she’s all about security. LOOK KERI A SECURITY APP! My Permissions App A friend showed me this app the other day and I was shocked to see ALL the sites who had access to my social info. It’s so easy to sign with Twitter, Instagram, Facebook these days that you forget the app can still creep your data. My Screenshots I had NO idea (because I forgot) that I had my Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. were connected to SO MANY apps I no longer use. You can check your own social security at mypermissions.com. Huzzah! Hope you’re having an awesome day! <3 CASIE

Into The Sun

My friend and babe Anna Cyzon just released a new music vid for her song ‘Into the Sun’. I missed the launch event last week and planned to tell you all about it. We’ve always bonded over our blondeness and that we both used to work at MTV. Anna Cyzon ‘Into the Sun’ launch, Spoke Club The first part of the video is a little dark for Monday morning but song is good! ‘Into the Sun’ reminds me of a poem I wrote in 2004 when I lived in Australia. It’s one of my favs. As the waves crashed on the shore, The wind washed them away. And as I walked along the sand, I felt I could not stray. For I was walking towards the sun, And it was a brand new day. – Untitled, Casie 2004 I hope the sun shines bright in your direction today. <3 CASIE

Andy’s Illustrated Story of Inspiration

Andy Warhol, Selfie, 1979 Spent some time yesterday looking through this magical book I got a couple years ago called Andy Warhol Treasures: The Illustrated Story of Andy Warhol’s Life and Work. It’s an amazing anthology documenting his life with all kinds of artifacts, letters, report cards, photographs, stencils, and things that have been reproduced. I can’t remember the last time I looked thought and read all this stuff. It’s super inspiring! Some Artifacts from the Book Currently watching The Startup Kids doc on iTunes. If you’re in tech or an entrepreneur,  you’ll totally relate to the film. Finding it as a great source of inspiration to start the week. I also just watched the video blog of a symphony flash mob. Watch, love, share! This was incredible. Thanks for sharing @kmore! Video: Grey Goose Cherry Noir at Thompson Toronto

Last month the team at Community put on an awesome launch event for Grey Goose Cherry Noir. Despite the wretched weather that night, the event was a success. We trended to the #1 spot in Canada gaining a few million impressions for our client. It was my first big event with Community as the Director of Social Media and I was pretty happy with the results. Watch the Grey Goose Cherry Noir Launch Video One of my FAV parts of the launch was Instaprint, the Instagram printer we flew in from New York. People could tag their instagrams with #cherrynoir and have them print out at the event. It was so rad. i came home with a stack of about 20. There are smaller launch events happening in Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa over the next few weeks. If you haven’t had the chance to try Grey Goose Cherry Noir, pick up a bottle this weekend and have a go. Check out cocktails recipes and connect on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. <3 CASIE
