The Perfect Summer Road Trip #SummerCovered

Summer is the perfect time to hit the road with your BFFs and ditch the concrete jungle. You may already be in the process of looking at a Christchurch motorhome hire company to plan your trip to New Zealand, or maybe a road trip to California is something that you’d all agreed on. Either way, planning your trip is essential. I love packing up the car and heading up north, to Montreal, or across the border. Next time, I might plan on investing in an RV instead of driving. It’s just so I can have a different experience and I’d be with my best friends, so it’d be hard not to have fun! If you are like me and are considering going on a road trip in this fashion, seeing as I was recommended to check out sites such as good sam ESP here, I’m now offering my knowledge to you guys too! I’ve had some pretty epic road trips over the years! However, I’ve never been on a road trip in an RV, which is something that has been reccommended to me on many occasions. I know that Texas has outstanding rv routes, so this would probably be my desired road trip of choice. Once a couple friends and I drove to Austin, Texas for SXSW and another time we drove and sang our way to Chicago. Another one of my favs was a road trip to Montreal, so great in the summer! I Did A Thing: CRB Live In Green, Commercials x2

A couple weeks ago I was on set with Yellow Pages Next Home to shoot 2 web commercials for the CRB (Certified Rental Building) program. They’re out and the campaign is live at crbliveingreen.ca. Please take note of the humour, I don’t ACTUALLY brush my teeth with dish soap or cook hot dogs with on candles. The top video in pink with the hanging clothes is my fav. We had a lot of laughs shooting these! Water Consumption – Save more water than me? The stuff on my face is a clay mask, Rock & Roll Suicide Face Scrub by Triumph & Disaster in New Zealand. Yellow Pages Next Home x MD Media Shoot

Yesterday I on set for a full day shooting 2 commercials that you’ll be able to see very soon. I’m working with MD Media again on a couple ads that will be YouTube pre-rolls so if you see my face in the first 3 seconds, don’t skip! I absolutely love being on location, having my makeup done etc. Worked with a great MUA named Julie, she also had a sweet, slightly French accent. Thanks girl! My first look was very casual and natural. The second was when things got really fun. Took off most the makeup, you can see I got a bit of a tan this weekend. Then we applied Triumph & Distaster volcanic ash face mask scrub. This stuff smells amazing and it’s from New Zealand!! I was sent it a few weeks back but hadn’t tried it. You can now find it in Canada. We were shooting at this great place in Rosedale that backed onto a forest. The birds were chirping away all day, loved it. Looking forward to laughing and probably being a bit embarrassed when these come out. I’m always a little nervous/excited for new on camera projects! 🎥❤️ CASIE

Travel Tuesday: Vacations Aren’t Just for Soaking Up Sun!

Dreaming of an experiential vacation – wine tasting in Italy, yoga in India, surfing in Costa Rica, visiting Lower Shotover New Zealand to go Bungee Jumping? People often think of vacations as a jaunt away to soak up the sun but one way to REALLY enrich your life is a vacation where you learn something or take on a new experience. An RV vacation is a very popular choice for many people who want to go and see new sights and cultures from the comfort of their own vehicle. Those that do embark on such a vacation will want to make sure they have quality equipment, like Lifeline rv batteries, on board before doing so. A couple years ago I went on a solo surf + yoga vacation to Costa Rica, it was so much fun. Visiting this country was on my bucket list and I had always wanted to tick it off. While I was there, I learnt how to do aerial silks and perfected my wave riding skills in the ocean. This was the little cabin I stayed at in the jungle at Anamaya Resort. Blog Life: Sometimes I don’t feel like it. #11

I know today is Bell Let’s Talk day and I’m not sure how to talk about the depression and anxiety that I face or if I even want to. Being on the Internet in itself gives me anxiety. Some days I just don’t feel like it at all, written about it a few times. Sometimes I want to hide and pretend I don’t even have a blog. (Or Twitter, tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Selfish, Rdio, Google+, Vine, or phone.) I like keeping to myself on on those days, not sharing stories. Being alone. My dad battled depression growing up and it was really hard for our family. He moved back to New Zealand to be with his family when my parents split up and it was tough for us. I want you to know that I too have days when I’m down and I’ve been through some very dark times and almost not made it through. It’s not always sunny where I am but I do try to bring my own sunshine to the internet each and every single time I make an appearance. My blog is a place you can count on to have bright colours and a fun photo. It’s helpful for me to look back and remember the good times too. Winter Doesn’t Have to Suck: How to Make Snow Paint + Some Stuff to Watch

Woke up early yesterday and made myself breakfast in bed. Spent some quality time on my computer quietly typing away and chatting with other early risers. Hello sunshine, it’s nice to feel you on my face. It’s a beautiful November day and this morning I took a stroll through the park on my way to a meeting. Thinking of my dear Granddad today and stories he used to tell us about being at war. He lied about his age and when they found out he was put in the kitchen to be a cook. When he returned to Palmerston North, New Zealand he opened a butcher shop. Mum still has one of his aprons. Thankful for all those who gave their lives for us. Lest we forget. Feeling Very Thankful. #ThankFALL

We had Thanksgiving up at the cottage this year and it was so great! We headed up north on Friday to spend time with Sean’s parents and family. I planned to do some work around the house on Monday but instead I slept in, relaxed, and watched Netflix. It was a holiday! Fall is a time of year we give thanks and think about what we’re grateful for. Target contacted a bunch of Canadian bloggers and asked us to share what we’re thankFALL for. It’s been such a wonderful weekend. I woke up at the crack of dawn feeling excited about life and the week to come. Took some time to sit on the dock and think about good intentions for the month. September is always one of my favourites. For my New Zealand (Kiwi) family and friends in Australia it’s the start of spring and always inspiring to see their posts about things in bloom and seasons changing. I like to keep that in mind when I think about September, there’s heaps of energy in the air with back to work and back to school. An Afternoon w/ Susur Lee at Bent Restauraunt

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Bent Restaurant w/ world-renowned chef Susur Lee, learning about his cooking an sampling the upcoming Veggielicious menu. The five-course vegetarian menu runs September 9th-20th at Bent, which he owns with his sons. Yes, he is holding two fish in the photo but they’re for the raw sushi bar! These didn’t last long! We started by making meringue desserts so they could bake while we explored the menu. I’m quite familiar w/ meringue as the Pavlova is a famous New Zealand dessert I’ve been making with mum as long as I can remember. We were given Susur Lee’s merengue recipe so I’m planning whip up a batch at the cottage this weekend and impress Sean’s parents. Look out! Below on the left is the meringue Chef made and mine is on the right. Added some almonds to fancy it up a bit. It was delicious. Scroll down to see the dessert presentation, it was a thing of beauty. Chickpea Tempura Tofu Wild Mushroom Quinoa Risotto French Merengie w/ Golden Licorice, feat. wild blueberry, peaches, passionfruit syrup, raspberry coulis! #SaveYourScreams #MMVA 2014: 2 Noms, 1 Commercial!

The 2014 MMVA show is next weekend and this year is an exciting one for me! Sean and 1188 Films are nominated for two awards in Post Production AND my sister is an MMVA commercial now playing on your TV. I’ve always loved the MMVAs and in 2010 I was the Social Media Manager for the show while I worked at MuchMTV. 1188’s nominations are for Hedley – Crazy for You and Sam Roberts – We’re All In This Together. He’ll be attending the show with his team and I’ll be prepping to hit the town after and *hopefully* celebrate them bringing home another award. Cross ya fingaz! Last year Sean & 1188 worked on Drake’s ‘Started from the Bottom’ which won video of the year. In 2012 they won an award for Down With Webster’s ‘Big Wheels’. Keep an eye out for my samurai-sword-swinging sister on your TV. Jenie Stewart is in an MMVA ‘Save Your Screams’ commercial. It’s pretty funny, they made the girls look pretty rough and fight against each other. Love it! Isn’t life a series of images that change as they repeat themselves?

One of the things I loved about DailyBooth (RIP) and love about selfies is they are a way to document your life as you grow and change. I wonder how many times I’ve taken a similar photo of my own face? This video is 4 years of my life on DailyBooth. I exported my archive before it shut down in 2012 and made this so I never forget this stuff.. So many memories here. Any you remember? Today is Anzac day in Australia/New Zealand. It’s like remembrance day in North America. My granddad was in the war. I remember him telling us stories of how he wasn’t old enough and snuck in then worked as a cook. He used to have a butcher shop in Palmerston North, NZ when Mum was growing up. I think he would be really glad to know I kept a blog diary because he was a writer too. I can’t believe I’m still wearing a scarf and it’s almost May! Urgh! Longest fattest winter of my life. Loving this new jacked I scored at the Rudsak sale this (deets here, it’s on till Sunday). Fried Eh

It’s safe to say I am completely exhausted. The last few weeks have been super busy and fashion week really takes a lot outta ya. I’ve got nothing planned but staying in the house and not socializing one but this weekend. My batteries need recharging! Last night was Untitled&Co’s first fashion show and it was great. I’ll do a full post on it when the photos roll in. I took Sean as my date and we had a lovely night together. We had dinner at Hawker Bar on Ossington then hit the after party at Libertine on Dundas. I worked with Cameron one of the 2 designers to produce GelaSkins for the gift bags with his designs on them. They’ll be up in our web store soon. I have the WIFEY one which Sean thought was hilarious because it’s got Courtney on it. Dad is in New Zealand and getting married in a few hours. Oh how I wish I was there to see the wedding and have a fam jam! They’re going to the Coromandel Peninsula after which is one the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Look at this, gah! I’ll be dreaming of this place for the rest of the day now. Beach and sunshine please! Cheers to the freakin’ weekend. <3 CASIE
