Vintage Ink Wine + Contest + Tattoo Tales

Ever wondered about someone’s tattoos but never asked? To be honest, I don’t really like explaining them to people I don’t know. It’s personal, I’m usually asked in a crowded place, and it takes a while because I have heaps. Some have number significance, dates, travel, family, and there’s a couple I got for fun. Pizza anyone? I’ve partnered with Vintage Ink Wines to share my tattoo stories and introduce a contest for a new wine label design based on tattoos submitted by people like us. The tatted! Tattoo Tales: Stories Behind My Tattoos I got my first tattoo in Australia, the southern cross constellation between my shoulderblades. It was about 4pm and we were driving from from Bronte to Bondi beach with no plans so, my friend Cameron and I decided randomly to get tattooed. We both didn’t have any until that day! My next tattoo was 2 lines on my right hand ring finger, one blue one orange. The idea is derived from a personality test called True Colours. It used to be used in workplaces to break people into groups and pair them together based on personality for group cohesiveness. It was prevalent in my studies and I learned that in order to be my most successful self, a 50/50 mix between my true colours was ideal. Orange – outgoing, vibrant, strong vs. Blue, analytical, organized, list maker. I still find this tattoo a helpful reminder. Note, tattoos on the hands fade faster than any others. I’ve had it redone about 3 times in 10 years. I got this owl about 2 years ago. It’s on my right arm, like most of mine because I drew them all on with marker first. I’m left handed. Customize Everything | Laptop Skin w/ My Face Yo

I looked pretty dorky but in a cool way at the Drake Hotel for dinner last night. I grabbed my computer and ran out the door not relly thinking about the fact I was wearing the same dress! Photo was taken when we were in California last summer, that was a great vacation. One of the cool things about GelaSkins (where I have been working the last few months) is the Create Your Own section on the website. You can upload any photo and make a case for your phone or skin for your laptop. Over the next couple months, you’ll see a bunch of new products (aside from tech accessories) that you will be able to customize. I am a HUGE fan of customizing everything. Ain’t Gonna Stop the Rain by Complaining

Rain, rain go away… I was off work yesterday and If you follow me on Twitter you will know I had a tiny sliver of glass stuck in my foot. It was SO PAINFUL! I went to the walk-in then to the XRAY and by the end of the day I was at another doctor. I had a needle that hurt like CRAZY into my foot to freeze it before the glass was removed. It’s better today, thank god. I arrived to the office today to find 2 boxes of shoes on my desk. I’ll be sharing those with you later this week. I also received a sweet package from Blow Vapor of nicotine-free e-cigarettes. They caused quite a stir in the office when everyone came to check ’em out. Refuel those Batteries Girl, Relax, Recharge

Started the day w/ brunch & shopping at The Drake Hotel for TFI’s Guilty Pleasures. Nice to see the Killigrew boys. Love those guys. They have heaps of new items in their collection. Cardigans, sweaters. They’re also adding jammies and pants. Check ’em out at killigrewfashion.com. Picked up some sweet handmade fortune rings. Good luck for Year of the Horse I hope! Had a lovely afternoon at Sekai Nail & Beauty Bar. My 90 min massage was great and followed by manicure & pedicure. Went for an electric sapphire blue on my nails, I usually only get red or black. Change is good! Tried my first Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks, I see now why so popular. Super sweet but delicious. It was crazy snowy so, after my relaxing afternoon out I retreated to our house and stayed in for the night. Posted heaps on Tumblr and Pinterest. Started watching the Kevin Bacon series ‘The Following’ on Netflix. It’s about s serial killer, like a really long episode of Criminal Minds kinda. Making Memories

Over the last six months I’ve been learning how to use a my first DSLR through my partnership with Canon Canada. As one of 5 official Canon Blogtography Ambassadors I’ve learned how to take portraits, shoot a runway, properly focus, shoot in different lighting, and most importantly the beauty of photos taken with a Canon Digital SLR camera. In our last session of 2013 we sat down for dinner at The Drake Hotel with our reps from Canon and Edelman Toronto. In effort to help us step up our photo game one more level, they hooked us each up with new printers (yes, plural!) AND gave us each a framed print of one of our own photos. It was like Oprah, “You get a printer and you get a printer!”. We all felt super touched when they revealed our gorgeous gallery style photos, printed from the exact printer we were just given. Emily’s Ice Cream + Canon’s Blogtography Program

Last night I had dinner with the other 4 Canadian Canon Blogtography Ambassadors and some great people involved in the program from Edelman Toronto and Canon Canada. We arrived at The Drake Hotel not knowing what they had planned for us. Each of the Canon sessions we’ve attended over the past six months has had a different theme where we learned tips and tricks from professionals similar to what video production companies austin texas employ in their work to try with our cameras. Over the last six months I’ve really learned how to take photos. I mean, I’ve been using a camera as long as I can remember but snapping shots is different than knowing how to use a camera outside of the auto. I took that photo above. We were on the trolly in High Park this summer and Emily had just gotten this massive ice cream with sprinkles, it was hot and about to drip everywhere. I cropped it and used one of the filters in my Canon Rebel SL1 then sent it off to Canon as part of my 20 favorite photos. Last night they gave each of us one of our prints, blown up and in a frame. The image was printed using a Canon printer which, in true Oprah style, we each got one. (Imagine “You get a printer and you get a printer”, it was kinda like that.) We were all amazed by the high quality, shocked by the generosity, and extremely grateful. As you already know, Canon is very famous and has been loved by many people over the years. I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone… I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn. I threw your sh*t into a bag and pushed it down the stairs cleaned the house, baked cookies, and make kale chips. Happy Fathers Day! They are a little burnt but I DON’T CARE, I LOVE IT. I crashed drove my car the Lexus all day yesterday to the Bowmanville zoo (photos coming) and around town in massive traffic, but I DON’T CARE, I LOVED IT. This is my Dad & I – Love you Dad! He’s in LA for the LA Roadsters Fathers Day show. I don’t care, I love it. With me in photos is Nataleigh from Coral TV. Photos by Shannon Litt Today is the Field Party, one of the BIGGEST MMVA weekend shindigs. It’s run by my friend Karine Delage and last year I filmed an episode of THIS on Coral TV at the event. It’s the spot everyone goes before hitting the red carpet (or bar) at the MMVAs. Tonight, I’m planning to go to the Universal Music party and the 235 Films party for the Drake video (my BF worked on Started from the Bottom). Last year he (BF) won an MMVA award for DWW’s ‘Big Wheels’ vid. This year, The Field Inc. is celebrating 10 MMVA noms for their awesome directors. Huzzahhhhh! The VIP giftbags are valued at $500 (um, HELLO!) and include the Just Dance video game (I have/love this on XBox!), Green & Black chocolate (YUM!), Atlantis Niagara Ice wine, Hypnotiq, Fireball, Sleeman, John Allans products, Calvin Klein underwear (M/F?), MJ Cosmetics, and treats from Bath & Body Works. About Town w/ the New HTC One

It’s been one week with the new HTC One and I can say two things, I’ve never been stopped so much for someone to look at a device and I don’t really miss my iPhone. I’ve literally been stopped (by dudes mostly) in the elevator, at Target, at bars, and at dinner, just to show it off and have them touch it. It’s a good feeling. I took all these photos with my new HTC One over the last couple days. The front facing cam on this baby is out of this world, you’ve never had selfies so fresh. There’s a couple photo skills I’m working on but overall, this is the best phone camera I‘ve ever had. Last week I went to a training session and it was super cool to learn about the technology behind this little guy. The pixels are bigger than other phone cameras which makes the images clearer. All the apps and features on the phone come with sharing options, so, for someone like me who is a Tweets, blogs, and creates heaps of content, it’s perfect. Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day.

Hello, hope the day is treating you well. Huge haul at The Sweet Potato last night. I made a nice healthy dinner and he played records. I also made kale chips. Who am I?! If this is growing up, I really like it. Feels good to have quiet nights at home after being on the go for the last 5 years at every event in the city. I’m much pickier about the things I go to these days. The sky in Toronto was really beautiful last night. Had a drink and snack at The Drake hotel with a former colleague from MTV. My how times change! It’s always nice to catch up with old friends. If they’ve been reading my blog, we seem to always pick up right where we left off. Pretty stoked to go to Boston next weekend. Crazy thing, the people from CityPASS contacted me after I mentioned them in the CAA post last week about travelling to NY & LA. The power of THE INTERNET is truly amazing! Looking forward to touring around the city and showing Sean all my fav spots. We’ll start with Harvard, MIT, and the Boston Common. Hopefully we have spring weather by then! TIFF Day 2: JUST THE TIFF!

This might be my favourite episode yet. We filmed it yesterday in Yorkville. The blondie with me is my sister, Jenie. It was hilarious dressing the babe in the Diesel store. The part that didn’t get on camera is me asking for the “no shirt collection”. Ha! There are so many things happening this weekend. I went to about five parties last night and got a tattoo. You’re Part of It, We’re In This Together

Yesterday I treated myself to a nice brekky at the Drake Hotel before afternoon meetings, SummerWorks, and a media dinner. I was feeling meh and a dining experience for one always makes me feel better. I’m working on some new things to launch at casiestewart.com in September. This space hasn’t changed much since it started in 2005 and I feel that it needs to grow along with how I have. It all started as “people, places, things & thoughts, in attempt to keep more memories” and it’s an amazing memory bank for me but I feel it could be better. I’d love your thoughts on things you would like to see me do, write about, or cover.
