Have you seen these yet? They’re beautiful! This weekend I had Saturday morning coffee with Andrew Dobson. He’s the blogger babe behind dobbernation.com and regular writer for Metro News Canada. We checked out the rainbow crosswalks in The Village and gabbed about adventure. It’s so lovely to chat one on one with a friend in the sun. I almost got a ticket from this hot cop but told him I was getting a photo and jumped in the car with a smile. Toronto Pride is extra special this year because it’s World Pride and we’re hosting! I’ve been going to Pride since Dad took Jenie and I when we were kids. Have some really great moments and blogged about them around this time last year. From now to the end of the month is crazy time w/MMVA, NXNE , Pop Up Perrier, 2 speaking gigs AND Pride. I’ll have heaps of stories to share and it will feel great when July long weekend rolls around. Here’s a few of my fav photos from Toronto Pride over the years. Thank googness for Google! ![#SaveYourScreams #MMVA 2014: 2 Noms, 1 Commercial!]()
The 2014 MMVA show is next weekend and this year is an exciting one for me! Sean and 1188 Films are nominated for two awards in Post Production AND my sister is an MMVA commercial now playing on your TV. I’ve always loved the MMVAs and in 2010 I was the Social Media Manager for the show while I worked at MuchMTV. 1188’s nominations are for Hedley – Crazy for You and Sam Roberts – We’re All In This Together. He’ll be attending the show with his team and I’ll be prepping to hit the town after and *hopefully* celebrate them bringing home another award. Cross ya fingaz! Last year Sean & 1188 worked on Drake’s ‘Started from the Bottom’ which won video of the year. In 2012 they won an award for Down With Webster’s ‘Big Wheels’. Keep an eye out for my samurai-sword-swinging sister on your TV. Jenie Stewart is in an MMVA ‘Save Your Screams’ commercial. It’s pretty funny, they made the girls look pretty rough and fight against each other. Love it! Watch Jenie’s 2014 MMVA Commercial #SaveYourScreams It’s also pretty exciting Lorde will be at the show. GO TEAM NEW ZEALAND! She’s killing it! So proud of Jenie, Sean, and Lorde! ![An Enchanted Party]()
This month was EmBot’s 6th birthday, and like any little girl she wanted a Hello Kitty party. I’m not very experienced in this type of thing (AT ALL) so when a friend told me his friend had a party supplies company, I was all ears! The lovely ladies at Enchanted Party put together a package of Hello Kitty party favours including plates, napkins, super kawaii hats, loot bags, and cutlery for me to contribute. It was my chance to shine! I dressed EmBot in a Hello Kitty dress (H&M) and all the kids all looked so cute in their party hats! EnchantedParty.com was started by mother and daughter team Sheryl and Tamara Murie. They wanted to make it easy for you to have the best parties for your kids and of course, wow your guests. Both ladies are Aussies living in Canada and experienced party planners with heaps of events under their belts. (Australians really know how to throw down so I have no doubt they can party!) HELLO KITTY PARTY .12 brightly colored scalloped edges plates 9” add a cute touch to your party table .1 set of napkins 6”- let Hello Kitty help keep things clean .12 cups -for an adorable Hello Kitty table .8 lovely Hello Kitty loot bags … fill them with treats . 24 pc matching cutlery set .1 table covering in matching pink – Measures 54″ x 108″ . 6 pretty Hello Party hats for the little guests .24 balloons .1 set of candles One thing I learned in this whole process is how hard it is to actually get the kids to sit still for photos! ![BlogTO + Shopify Open Popify This Weekend]()
Sounds like a bit of tongue twister but trust me it’s cool. My friends from Jet Cooper now Shopify have partnered with BlogTO for a cool pop-up shop that I thing might be the future of retail. Located at 165 Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market the stop is part gallery part shop. The cool thing about it is you can see and touch all the merch then using Shopify’s payment system on the wall mounted iPads (below) you make a purchase and it’s delivered to your door, before Christmas of course. I think this concept is rad. I love online shopping and this bridges it with retail for a totally new experience. All those asking is Shopify good? Well here’s your answer. They’re innovating and adapting to market trends – and it really shows. I’ve seen a few of these stores online or came across them while doing online shopping since some eCommerce store use companies like Victorious to help with their digital marketing. I know lots of people who use Shopify daily and they love it. It’s cheap, it’s easy to use and it even has a mobile app. Of course, there is always the question of ‘Wix vs Shopify‘ but it’s down to personal preference which platform you prefer. If you own an online store, Shopify could be a great alternative online shopping experience, shipping out your products with custom retail packaging to your customers. Last night was a busy one! I went to four events before 9pm and made it home in time to watch a movie and get to bed at a decent hour. I’ve really matured over the years, eh? Pictured above one of my fav bloggers Jay Strut on the #FHQ couch at Faulhaber’s event. They just did a MASSIVE expansion of the office which now includes a showroom. The team brought together a stellar group of people and so many familiar faces filled with hugs and love. PR often is so behind the scenes to make magic happen. I’ve been working with the WONDERFUL team there for some time now. You might not know it was them but they are behind all my stuff with Ted Baker, essence cosmetics (Bieber in NYC!), Thomas Sabo (the UK trip!), Dermologica, and a few more things here and there.
