Oh hey, this is the kitchen at work. The sunshine is so bright there in the morning, you could wear your sunnies but it’s not really necessary. Been trying to get in a bit earlier lately. I find I get heaps done when I’m up at the crack of dawn. I relish in the silence and calmness before the story of the day with tasks filling up time. There’s some exciting news coming about work in a couple weeks and I can’t WAIT to share it with you. This is your warning, COOL THINGS HAPPENING. That’s all for now. Last week I was sent a bottle of Concha y Toro’s Winemaker’s Lot 148 Carmenère Blend. It’s always a great surprise getting alcohol deliveries at the office! This Carmenère Blend is a full bodied red, perfect for summer BBQs. I decided to save it for the weekend where we paired it with steak, potatoes, salad and corn on the cob. It’s got warm earth, fig and black cherry notes pair so paired with a juicy steak is a match made in heaven. Throughout its 130-year history, Concha y Toro has worked to produce superior quality wines that represent the diverse and distinctive origins of Chile. Today the winery and its award-winning wines have become a global benchmark in terms of quality. My friends at Clearly Contacts recently contacted me to LMK about their new Evergreen Collection where made from 95 per cent recycled steel and plastic frames. The new line takes a page from TOMS in that when you buy a frame, they plant a tree. Over 30,000 planted trees can be attributed to the company’s philanthropic effort. That’s heaps! For every Evergreen frame sold, a seed is sent to a tree nursery in a developing country, where Agroforestry workshops provide local farmers with the necessary education to help cultivate their own land. The frames are eco-friendly and vintage inspired with lots of bright colours. I got to pick a pair from the collection in exchange for posting and naturally went for something a little wild! Seen here are the Tortoise/Pink that can also be ordered with sunglasses lenses. I could have used these those for the photos!
