Busy day ahead today. Meeting after meeting after meeting then dinner meeting with some colleagues. About to have a call with my advertising company in Say Media. Have you even noticed the ads on my blog in the sidebar? They’re for cool stuff like Mercedes, Winners, Wind and the new Caramilk campaign. All fortune 500 companies and nothing cheezy. Saw one for COD Black Ops the other day. After 5+ years of running this blog I reckon you won’t mind seeing ads here. Click & see what they look like, I’m keen to know what you think. Last night as I was going to bed I heard an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale was widely felt across the lower North Island where most my family lives in New Zealand. Luckily, everyone is a-ok. Initial reports on GNS’ website show the quake was felt in Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth and up to the Coromandel (LOVE COROMANDEL!). Aftershocks were not expected & it was too deep to affect Mt. Ruapehu. Looks like I won’t be heading back to NZ for NZFW at this point. I hope that changes! [crosses fingers, makes a wish] I want to go back to NZ & see my family so bad. Chat later my friends. Tech | Social Media Day -Toronto is one of most most social in the world.

I’d like to think I had something to do with that. I kid, I kid. We’re SO online and our  Social media Day meetup is SO BIG that Mashable wrote about us today. We Toronto peeps know how to have fun. Get social baby. Props to Michael Nus & Dan Levy for putting this together. Last year I spoke about running the social media for MuchMusic & MTV Canada & this year I’m speaking about building a personal brand. Over 350 people are attending so it’s gonna, kinda a big deal. Wish Mum was here to see me in action. I’m sure someone will have on video. Last year I was JUST getting into speaking and has my hands in my pockets the whole time. Won’t do that again. What am I going to wear? I should really have planned this out. Hope to meet some new peeps & will for sure see a bunch of familiar faces. Looking forward to it. If you have any questions, ask away! Saw this on O’Nizzle’s blog today and I dig it. Think you will too. What do you do to be creative? I like to let my mind wander. I like long walks by myself. I like to play outside. I love my sketchbook. I like to draw with pastels. I cut up old clothes and make new ones. I call old friends. Classical music. Reminding myself I can do anything. Cleaning my closet. Coffee. Painting. Dancing with arms over head. Writing is especially fun for me. I like poetry, reading, writing mostly. Photography & close up shots on the camera. Old music & fun memories. I like watching Annie Hall or Dead Poets Society. I enjoy sitting by the lake. Running in the rain. Friends are good too. I like to let my mind wander. I guess you could say I’m Borderline Artistic.

Stuck at airport family with bunch of kids behind us. They are annoying. Update: Erica Ehm and the mommy bloggers went to TOWN on giving me hell for this post. Thanks for the hits and personal attacks. I was stuck in an airport and these parents from Florida let their kids run ALL OVER THE PLACE. Who does that? I wasn’t attacking ‘every parent’.  Check out this little blurb in the HUffPo, I’m sure I inspired it: “But should you find yourself in the presence of a family, try to avoid behaving like this girl. Yesterday I had my first official Jukari class with Carla at King West Fitness. Such beautiful gym. I’ve wanted to workout (in general but) at this gym for years. Very happy they’ve invited me in. Thanks guys! I can kick way higher than this but it’s not so easy with camera in your hand to balance and not look silly. Trust me. I practice. These are shoes for Jukari and great for indoor workouts. Reebok Canada hooked me up. They’re REALLY light and the mesh on the top/sides is like AC for your feet. Carla (or the teacher) yells “hup hup” and you go back & jump high or kick etc. It’s really fun. This is me in action. We are running in circles & doing half moons here. Off the ground! Frog leap. FLYING! My Monday class is advanced Jukari for dancers. I needed something harder than my first class. Basically, I really wanna work hard & sweat. To be honest, my body is hurting today in arms, abs, legs, shoulders. It’s a full body workout. Can’t wait to feel it tomorrow 🙂 Last time I was at King West Fitness for the launch of Jukari Slice.ca was there & made this video. You can see bits of me, I’m on the far left during the class. Tina asked Julie about the benefits etc. of Jukari. Post workout we used this thinger that is for Trigger Point Therapy. You roll your back legs etc on it. It hurts but feels good. Y’know, the good hurt (burn). I have some free passes so if you wanna try Jukari let me know!

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the 10th Anniversary of FITC in Toronto. This year’s event was held at one of Toronto’s premiere venues, The Guvernment. There was a charming 1950’s theme carried throughout the venue with cotton candy, bow ties, popcorn and fun decorations. Safe to say, it was a real experience being there during business hours! FITC (Flash In a Can) is one of the largest and longest running events of its kind. It brings together brings together a wide range of digital enthusiasts from around the globe. Attendees included Flash designers & developers, motion graphic artists, digital artists and anyone with an interest in Flash and/or digital media. The schedule for FITC Toronto was jam packed with over 70 presentation in over three days. At any given time there were four presentation happening in different rooms with another session in the voodoo lounge upstairs. Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference – HI!

Today I’m at U of T with Keri hosting CUTC (The Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference). In a nutshell, CUTC is “passionate young students gathering to discuss and learn about the newest and coolest ways the world is changing”. Check out the speakers here (Reddit guy, Kiva founder etc.). We’re in for lots of red shirts and heaps of students. Beauty day out there though! If you’re in the audience reading this – HIIIIIIIIIIIIIII CUTC is Canada’s largest, longest-running student-organized technology conference. 2011 will be its 12th year. CUTC brings together hundreds of the country’s brightest students for two days in the heart of downtown Toronto, and gives them a chance to interact with technology in ways that school can’t. This includes incredible keynote speakers, intimate breakout sessions, and a wide variety of activities and competitions bringing together students and tech. CUTC 2011 is about sharing the stories behind changes in technology, about answering the “how” and “why” more than just the “what”.
