Global News at Noon: Money tips for Millennials

I was recently included in a press release with TD for a study they did about millennials and money. They found that kids like us are better off if we see a financial advisor. When they called me about the study I said I agree 100%. About 5 years ago I set out a payment plan with a financial advisor to pay back my $30K. My goal was to be debt free by the time I turned 30 and I DID IT. I blogged about it recently here. Philistine Toronto shirt, Tiffany & Co silver pearls, Joe Fresh boyfriend jeans, NastyGal shoes It’s almost hard to believe this actually happened because there was a long stretch there where I wondered how I was ever gonna pay back my school and credit cards (from school). I honestly and sincerely encourage you to talk to a financial advisor because there’s nothing like having control over your debt instead of it controlling you. From millennial home buyers to millennials in the workplace, there are many stereotypes that the previous generation have on people in this age group, which isn’t always true. Although times are hard for this generation, it won’t get an better unless you decide to take charge! Here’s me on Global news at noon today with Faisal Yousuf from TD Bank. Millennials and money the two don’t always mix so well. The generation is often accused of mismanaging funds and wasteful spending. So we’ve brought in TD Canada’s Faisal Yousef, and blogger Casie Stewart to offer some solutions to gen y’s money woes.

WMCFW | Shows, Street Style, Something Different

Last night kicked off World MasterCard Fashion Week in TO. It’s always fun seeing everyone show up and it feels like the first day back at school seeing all your fashion friends in one place. I started my evening at The Shore Club for the preview of Piloti by StyleBox. Especially loved the carnivore Club box of meats in the gift bag. You can bet Sean was happy when I arrived home with that, ha! #PilotiFW14 preview w/ @piloti. Rolls out in Canada/US/UK July 2014. #WMCFW pic.twitter.com/GbZaBxgvu2 — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) March 17, 2014 Highlights from WMCFW Day 1 WMCFW Street Style Day 1 I absolutely LOVE Line Knitwear.  It’s hard not to really. The colours and angora in this collection makes me want to wear everything at once. My old friend Natalie used to be roomies with John Muscat of Line Knitwear back when I first moved to Toronto, I wasn’t really in the fashion scene back. That reminds me, I have a gorgeous Line blazer I really need to bust out when the weather warms up, if it ever does! Urghhhhh! Line Knitwear WMCFW FW14 One of the cool things I saw at VAWK was Sunny Fong partnered with the Alleles,  winners of the Design Exchange’s recent Emerging Designer competition. They specialize in intricate covers for leg prosthetics and it was the first time I’d seen something like this on the runway!  (Photo via BlogTO read more here.) Can’t believe that @Jeanne_Beker just saw one of our prosthetic covers on the @VAWK runway @WMCFashionWeek…SO COOL!!!! — the Alleles (@the_Alleles) March 17, 2014 I won’t be at the tents tonight as I’m meeting the Cuisinart crew to plan our next episode. I can’t wait to get my hands on a juicer! I’ll be back tomorrow for Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh sharing what’s…

The Universe is Full of Magical Things

Oh hey Monday! Finally most of the ice has melted so I didn’t have to skate to work. Wearing pink jeans from Joe Fresh and totally forgot I had these old Jeffrey Campbell sneaker wedges. Oh man, this weather has me dreaming of Spring big time. Really wish I still had by bike. Hoping to pick up a new one in the next couple weeks. Also hoping to book a winter vacation w/ Sean somewhere warm and romantic. Hearts always make me think of Mum. You know where to find me, Twitter. This is me Tweeting 🙂 The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.    Eden Phillpotts Hope your week is off to a great start! <3 CASIE

And When Those Blue Snowflakes Start Falling

Found this blue wall on a walk in my hood today and started singing Blue Christmas. That and Jingle Bell Rock are my fav Christmas songs. Try and not swoon over this… My tan has practically disappeared already. I’m  feeling jet lagged like never before and having trouble sleeping. It’s quite strange and I hope it goes away soon! Next week and the one after are full of holiday parties so I really need to be back on my A-Game. We’re doing Christmas w/ Mum this weekend before she heads of to NZ to see the family. It’s so warm there now I wish I was going too!  Club Monaco jacket, Joe Fresh silk, Alice & Olivia vest, essence  lips Hope your day has been lovely! <3 CASIE

Mastercard Stylicity Celebrates the Canadian Tuxedo at The Room

Fashion week events kicked off last night with Mastercard Stylicity at The Bay on Queen Street. The fashion community gathered for an exclusive event seeking to redefine the eye catching denim-on-denim Canadian Tuxedo. Special guests included The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark and HBC Fashion Director Suzanne Timmins. I rolled up with Brock Mclaughlin and we were up to are usual shenanigans of course. I picked up these glasses from Top Shop. They reminded us of Andy Warhol. These book trees are beautiful. I wish I had room for one at the house. Thanks Mastercard Stylicity and The Bay for the gift card. We all got to pick a card from a magical bowl and although they each had  some value, there was only ONE with a huge payout. Mine was $10 which I appreciate! Blogger discount? No, JK.. It was an error but I had a LOL. Where do I order these socks or high heel feet? Um, hello! She looked Emo to me. Christoper (@turnstylin) introduced to me his friend with these AWESOME nails. Pose for the camera girl. Totally blending. New glasses and bird on a wire tights from Top Shop.
