Nuit Blanche 2012 Video

I experienced Nuit Blanche last night. The Hip put on an AWESOME show. The Drambuie event at Camera Parts was awesome. Will post some photos from those tomorrow. For today, check out this rad video by my Jon Simonassi from The Biz Media digital video agency. There was SO MUCH to see last night. Were you out? What did YOU see? LMK! <3 CASIE Nuit Blanche Toronto 2012 from BizMedia on Vimeo. For one night each year, Toronto’s streets become an outdoor interactive art gallery. Last year our goal was to beat the press and release a video before sunrise the next morning. This year our goal was no different. The crowds were huge, the art was amazing and we were up all night making this video so you can experience it all over again – the very next day. Nuit Blanche Toronto 2012 was produced by BizMedia Shot & edited by cinematographer Jon Simonassi Track: Palace of the Innocents – The Glitch Mob Special thanks to: James Hughes, Jake Chirico, Jason Kattides

Nuit Blanche 2012 – My Plan for the Night

Tonight is Nuit Blanche and the city is alive with art installaions, music, and culture. It’s one of my fvaourite Toronto events and I’ve taken part since it started back in 2008. Tonight I’m starting with The Tragically Hip and Molson Canadian at Sound Academy. The show isn’t a Nuit Blache event but those are tickets I won’t pass up! My portrait is featured in an installation called Life Lessons at Funding Matters Gallery  (Zone C 29).  Life Lessons features 311 portraits of community figures who have helped shape the city of Toronto. Other notables ar Margaret Atwood, David Miller, Douglas Coupland, Justin Bieber, Atom Egoyan, George Strombo, David Mirvish, Susur Lee, and Karen Kain. I am extremely honoured to be in this amazing group! The project will be exhibited using Sony HD TV screens displaying life-sized images of each subject at print-quality resolution. When:     September 29th, 2012 Time:       7:03 PM Location:  FUNDING matters GALLERY – 33 DUNDAS ST E, TORONTO ON   M5A 2A2 (East of Sherbourne, South side)  See the event page on Facebook to view portraits of other notable people in the Toronto community.  LIFE LESSONS PORTRAIT by TOMORI NAGAMOTO:  One of my fav years was 2009 when I went to U of T then ran into my sister on Queen Street at 3am. Another fav was 2010 when we filmed the video that won me the Virgin America Provocateur title. Here’s a little art history on my Nuit Blanche adventures. [View the story “Art History: Nuit Blanche & Borderline Artistic” on Storify] After the Hip and Life Lesson’s exhibit, I’ll be heading to Camera Parts on Queen Street for Drambuie’s Extraordinary Night pop-up installation. It’s definitely something you want to check out as you’re cruising around. We posted about it on the Pulp&Fiber blog at work. Come by to discover your extraordinary…

Early Riser, Morning Sunshine

Woke up early after a super long day. Dance was great last night. Routine to Rack City, no joke. Filmed an episode of Coral TV, comes out tomorrow. Arrived first at the office. Sunshine halo at my desk. I’m so slow leaving the house.  I have a taxi problem. Wore a hat. It’s getting colder. Can’t wait to buy a new bike. Don’t have a case on my iPhone just screen protector. Work is going good. Going the to Casby awards tonight. Seeing the Hip on Saturday. Ready for the weekend. Working full time is tiring but so is freelance. I’ve been drinking less. It’s really sunny today. Maybe I’ll go for a walk at lunch. You will never be younger than you are today, do something special, do something fun, tell someone you love them. Have an awesome day, <3 CASIE

The Sweetest Thing: New Jeans, New Jacket, Jean Machine

The week before I started at Community I was CRAZY busy with TIFF events. One of the things that makes TIFF so busy is the insane amount of parties and outfit changes in between gift lounges & films. NO really, it’s actually stressful! My friend Val works with Jean Machine and they invited me to the Eaton Centre store to ….PICK OUT AN OUTFIT! I worked in the mall heaps during highschool and knew Jean Machine well. My first job was at GAP  in Fairview Park Mall. I used to wear a LOT of jeans back then and Jean Machine was my destination. I remember almost crying to Dad once I needed new jeans and in the car we went to Jean Machine. I wish like crazy I still has those super soft Silver’s from grade ten, I lived in those things. It’s been ages since I walked into a Jean Machine store and was happy to be re-introduced. They had Yoga Jeans, Mavi is still there, and some new brands. I tried on about 10 pairs with a stylist over the course of an hour. Decided on a pair of  flare (yes, and so long) jeans by Guido & Mary.  Low rise, slim fit, and BEST a$$ pants. No seriously. To complete my outfit I got a fitted blazer from the Jean Machine brand YDE. Wore the blazer at first day at work and jeans when I spoke last week at a conference week. Pop in and visit a Jean Machine store. You’ll be surprised by their updated coolness! Twitter is @JeanMachine 😉 Thank Val for inviting me. Her and I laughed our heads off and tried on clothes. It was super fun. A few of the Toronto blog girl were there and so posted them on her blog I’m Charming You.…

The Social Network: New MySpace Design

This looks cool. I loved MySpace. I really was my first Social Network. I lived in the New York when it came out and wasn’t able to work so I watched a million movies and taught myself HTML. The new Myspace from Myspace on Vimeo. It’s exciting to the the Internet buzzing about the new design. At CES this year MySpace announced the launch of a MySpace TV partnership with Panasonic. Justin Timberlake is co-owner with Specific Media Group and it appears he’s innovating the social media space. I’m into it. Thoughts? CASIE

Social TV, Dance Routines, Everyday, Awesomism

It’s been a busy day! Arrived early at the office, did some writing, and a conference keynote all before noon. I posted the slides from my presentation  with Stephen Henrik  (The Globe & Mail) on the Pulp&Fiber blog. The subject was ‘Role of Social TV in Building the Brand’ read it here.  For the record, if you know Stephen, he did not say “shake that” during the presentation. Last night my sister came with me to dance at King West Fitness. We are BOTH In the Army of Sass from now until December. We perform at the Virgin Mobile MOD Club Theatre on December 8th & 14th. CIBC Run for The Cure 2012 – September 30!

This year I’m participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure on September 30, 2012. I’m running with Lauren, Sarah, Courtney, and Harmony as TEAM 5138008. Get it? BOOBIES! I’ve been training by running, dancing (joined a burlesque troupe!), eating healthy, and mentally preparing for 5k. At this point I can to 2.5k  and by 12 days from now, I’ll be ready! When I think about the estimated over 23,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in Canada, I’m happy to be supporting a cause that touches so many of us. I heard yesterday about a friends Mum being diagnosed with Breast Cancer and I wrote this post right away. As of right now I have raised 16% of my personal goal of $300. I would like to blow that number out of the WATER! You can make a difference. With your support, the Foundation will continue funding breast cancer research, education and health promotion initiatives across the country, making a difference from coast to coast. To learn more about the work the Foundation does, visit www.cbcf.org Will you support me in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure? A donation of $20, $50 or $100 will really help me get closer to my fundraising goal. Of course, any donation will make a difference and help create a future without breast cancer. You can make your donation here. Need some PINK donation motivation?  Pink glasses, pink sky! Me running for the CURE! Pink Strawberry Tic Tacs for Breast Cancer Month! KISS Concert at Moslon Amphitheatre

Saw KISS last night. It was pretty epic. They have the best shoes & outfits. Gene Simmons tongue in real life was so long. He was also wearing a metal attachment that looked like a spine on his man parts, it caused a sea of screams in the crowd. The show was super good. Impressed with the lights & pyro. I have never actually seen Molson Amp THAT packed. The crowd leaving was so tame, like a flock of sheep. Totally last minute totally awesome! Happy Friday!

TIFF: Guest Starring on Edgy Veg, Birks Jewellers Suite, The Iceman Film

Yep, TIFF is still in full force for the next few days. Doesn’t it seem like forever? Wore a cute outfit yesterday. Schoolgirl skirt is hand painted by Beaucoup Fashion House, Vans ‘Sophie’ shoes, shirt was a gift, Nella Bella Avalon bag. Went uptown to shoot w/ Candice for her show on Coral TV, The Edgy Veg. She made a delicious face mask and slopped it on me. The episode comes out Thursday so make sure you subscribe to Coral by then. There is lots of laughing in this one. Then we eat the mask. I was invited to the beautiful Birks Jewellers suite in the new Shangri-La hotel to preview the new Muse collection. It was diamond heaven! Thanks to Fiji Water & Birks for having me. It was a nice break in the afternoon. Glass of champagne at 3pm really takes the edge off! I loved the rings, especially the costume huge ones and the Canadian double diamond leaf. The ombre pearls are also incredibly beautiful. Perhaps I can borrow for a huge event sometime? Hint, hint. Besos to the team for my gift, feeling the love! Saw the film ‘The IceMan‘ with Barbie in the evening. It was excellent. Michael Shannon is an incredible actor. There was a star studded cast including Ray Liotta, Winona, James Franco, and Chris Evans. They were all there after to talk about the film. Seeing the actors in real life really makes you appreciate their hard work, talent, and career.  There is another screening today at noon. If you can make it to the Rush Line, go. You will be glad you did. Details here. This afternoon I’m catching the Bill Murray film Hyde Park on Husdon then scooting over to Jean Machine to be styled for an outfit for the…
