LEARNING NEW THINGS IS GREAT!

For Christmas Sean got me an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and my first reaction wasn’t what he was expecting. I kept saying ‘It’s so big!” and thought about returning it the first couple days. BUT now, I can’t imagine my life without it! Last week I signed up for a creative hand lettering course so I could learn how to use Procreate and it is SO COOL.  The course ($45) is by Caroline Kelso Zook who has a website called Made Vibrant for creatives. I’ve subscribed to her for a few months and ? her work. I’ve been staying up late drawing, then dreaming about drawing. I’m only just getting started and on part 2 of 4 in the course. I’m learning new things every day so you’ll start to see colourful creations pop up more and more. Using AirDrop to share seamlessly between iPhone, iPad, Macbook is so incredibly awesome. YAY technology and internet and art. I started my drawing blog ‘Borderline Artistic‘ back in 2008 when I got my 1st gen iPad. I loved that little thing. Remember Andy? Now with iPad Pro, I’m creating more than ever and I’m planning to update things around here with more art.   Went to Wake Up at Yoga Yoga this morning and had a coffee/croissant at Hale. Both places give me so much joy!   Tonight is the media opening of Drake Commissary and I’m taking my yoga teacher, Sandy! Today is going to be sunny to put a smile on your face and flash it around. Sending you some sunshine through the internet, across the sky, right to your screen.

My Love for Great Glasses

If I was to point out a similarity with my photos over the years it’s that you can usually find a pair of glasses on my face. I love them. There’s about 5,970 results in Google of ‘casiestewart + glasses”.  I’ve amassed a huge collection over the years and part of that is thanks to polette eyewear from France. I’ve been on their global blogger team for almost 2 years now! A long time ago I used to wear these dark black rimmed glasses, this black & white photo was my Twitter profile from 2008 to about 2011. These glasses reminded me of Andy Warhol and they were my favourite. It was years before I found another pair I liked just as much (this one from polette) and then I lost them. Well, I ordered them again and I’m happy to have them back. Casual and easy to wear, perfect for everyday. Find the polette Combinasion here. * they are currently sold out!  My second fav pair of glasses is the e-divergent from polette. I always get compliments on them. Best part? They’re specially tinted to protect your eyes from screen damage. The slight tint will decrease chances of getting a ‘screen headache’ and tired eyes. The frame is also entirely hand polished. Sean makes fun of them almost every single time I wear them, saying they’re my ‘Drake Glasses’. I don’t care, they’re awesome! And so is Drake, heard this yet? My latest sunglasses are quite different from each other but both awesome! The Magnesia have sun lenses that pop off to make them into glasses. These are badass. They remind me of Dwayne Wayne flip up glasses. The Elektra are a more high fashion style that totally reminds me of Lady Gaga. The butterfly shaped frame offers optimum UV400. Fashion & function, honey! The…

Monday, Monday, Monday!

This morning I ventured out to Etobiocoke for a plant tour of a clients workshop. It was pretty neat. I love the smell of workshops. My dad owned a big hot rod shop that had a warehouse when I was a kid, I spent so much time there growing up.  Had to fully gear up with glasses and steel toe shoes. It’s crazy warm in Toronto right now, 12 degrees! Apparently it’s NOT because of Global Warming, just an El Niño keeping things warm. A record-breaking El Niño has shunted the jet stream far to the north, paving the way for warm air to shatter records. [More here.] Here’s a little sneak peek at the Christmas tree April and I decorated at the 1188 office on Friday. It’s a selfie tree! We’re even got Drake, Kanye, and Otis the dog (RIP, love you). Had some great chilli for lunch. Tonight I’m doing a holiday screen printing workshop with Peach Berserk. Can’t wait! Might finally do that all over print of my face. I know that’s what you want for Christmas!

Events | The Collective w/ Lincoln Drive + Kim Newport-Mimram & Susur Lee

The other day I attended an event at the Thompson Toronto with Lincoln. The Collective connected three artists for a special media preview, to speak about inspiration, drive, and their creativity on a daily basis. The partnership brought together designer Kimberly Newport-Mimran (PinkTartan), chef Susur Lee (Bent, Frings – w/ Drake!) and visual artist Jacques Gallant (metal fabrication). Kim (as I call her now! :P) talked about her love for attention to detail, the relationship between haute couture and ready to wear. She also designed a one of a kind dress inspired by Lincoln. Susur (we hung out here a while back) spoke about senses in design and created signature hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Mr. Gallant talked about the importance of hand-crafting and how it translates into modern design. I test drove a sweet ride around the block and went back for snacks. Great night! Thanks Lincoln!

This Is My Life | Weekend Cruising in an Audi A7 TDI

I really loved driving this car. I picked it up Friday in Ajax, cruised back to the city then spent a couple days in cottage country. It was beautiful to drive on the highway and also be a passenger in. Two features I really loved were heated seats w/ several massage options and the fast accelerating. I fount it a bit long for city driving/parking but it was v. luxurious. I feel an Audi would be a good car for us, I think the Q5 or Q7 is next on my test drive list. The exact car I had was equipped with $20K in upgrades including a $5k Bang & Olufsen sound system that was pretty amazing. You can bet 100% I was cruising to Drake and them singing along and crying to the new Adele. I really love test driving new cars. I grew up in the garage and around my dad’s hot rod shop, so I’ve always been around lots of different ones. Connecting to the nav system with my phone is something I like to test out right away, no issues with the A7. It was great to take calls through the speakers or use Google Maps via my phone to navigate. We had a great time together!
