Last night I went to a fashion show for Brazen Hussy and Naughty by Nature at Circa. I did a major fail and left my camera battery plugged in and brought camera, sans battery. I must say, I do not like to be referred to as ‘brazen’ or ‘hussy’. There were a few choice items I liked in the collection. The BEST part of the show was the violin player who played BRITNEY spears. OMG. I was loving it so hard. More than the clothes. I met lots of cool ass peeps hanging out in the glass cube. Last month on Friday the 13th I got a tattoo. Remember? I was thinking it would be cool to get another tattoo today, like a little Friday the 13th thingy. This is not likely going to happen unless someone invites me like in the next few hours as I do not have an appointment anywhere. Today is really pretty outside and I wore pink Hello Kitty glasses.

Last night I met up with some of my totally awesome Twitter friends for #girlsnight. We were at Rivoli on Queen Street. It was super fun as you will now see. Have you heard of Ahoka? “Akoha was founded by @AustinHill and Alex Eberts After attending the TED Conference. It’s pretty cool. It’s an online/offline game and all about doing good stuff. I dig it and am totally playing!! Are you playing Akoha? Find me and add me if you are. We had some really good laughs and chats. I let out that I rarely ever wear pants and we all have a crush on Renee. Her & Erin have great hair. Looking forward to hanging out again, and again.

I’m wondering what to have for lunch today. We get catered lunched in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so today, it’s all about me and whatever I want. I’ve been trying to avoid eating McDonalds as I have been eating it religiously my whole life. Lucky enough, I’m still mini. I’m a big pho lover traditionally but when I went home for family day I had a really bad pho at Ben Thahn in Cambridge and I’m just not feeling it. I ordered the wrong one and it had nasty meat parts that I can’t describe. That’s what you get for not REALLY reading the menu. Tonight I’m going to Facebook Camp Toronto 5 at Mars. I’m interested to hear how Twitter will be brought up, if at all. Although, I can’t imagine it just not coming up. I wonder what I might learn? This is my date @shawnhawaii. He is the coolest.

It was awesome. Jenie & I are in this video along with a bunch of other Tweeps & peeps who attended TwestivalTO. Thank you to everyone who came out. I met HEAPS of totally cool people who were mobilized for the cause. We beat our goal and Twestival Toronto can build wells for communities without access to clean water. Great job!!

a BILLION, yes, a BILLION

Did you know that over a billion, YES A BILLION, people all over the world go without access to clean and safe drinking water everyday? That is 1 in every 6 people. Today you will find an article about Twestival on page 3 of the Toronto 24 Hours newspaper. Twestival has been on CNN, BBC and all kinds of other networks around the world. The Toronto response has been great, but we need more people out for the cause! Toronto is one of the MOST online cities and we can totally show the other 180 global cities participating, that Toronto is a strong community. I know we can show up Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Moncton, Montreal and Vancouver by having a bigger party and raising more for the cause! We are looking to sell another 200 tickets! If you can’t attend the event, purchase a ticket and show your support. Get them here!The Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers in cities around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects. This image is a tag cloud of all my contacts on Twitter and what they do. The largest words are the ones that show up the most (in case you are unfamiliar with this kind of thing!). It is evident that the most predominate are 1. social 2. media 3. marketing. I find that the amount of new stuff I learn each day is greatly increased by following these people. The Twitsphere is an ongoing life stream of what is happening in the world around us online and offline. If you don’t use Twitter yet, get on it! You can follow me very easily and begin the learning and sharing for yourself. I find it to be the greatest social tool at my fingertips for getting smarter, staying connected and branding. Its a lovely day in the city of Toronto and I took the time to enjoy it. I went for a sun filled walk on the West side and stopped by some shops. I’m working on a few things for Twestival today and really looking forward to Thursday night at Circa. I hope you have your tickets! Molson is buying your first drink and there are heaps of prizes to be won. The event is four days away and the TwestivalTO fundraising goal is $10,000. This contribution to charity:water will help fund 2 different water well projects. There are over 165 cities around the world participating. Can you imagine if you aren’t there? The Twestival is coming soon (Mark Feb.12 on your calendar!) and I am happy to announce tickets are selling well! The night is sure to be a hit and will be enjoyed by over 175 cities around the world, together. Here is a mesage from the founder of charity:water thanking us all for being involved in Twestival. It’s been ages since I have had a new camera as I lost the old one last summer. I’ve had a few requests to do some impersonations. This I assure you will be quite hilarious. Today is it -4 in Toronto and the snow is coming down in a sideways motion. I’d happy I live in a condo and don’t have to deal with snow removal.

In reference to the upcoming Twestival on Feb. 12 I posted the following message: “1 in 6 peeps on earth don’t have access 2 clean water. On Feb 12, 100+ cities around the world set out to change that. This is @Twestival via Twitter“ I received a personal message from an old friend that I have known for years who has quite an opinion on the subject. Here is what said: “Casie, if you weren’t on the computer so much, maybe that 1-6 in people who don’t have fresh water, could have fresh water. The majority of the worlds fresh water is used for the use of hydro electric dams around the world and with the global demand for energy much of that fresh water is diverted from the areas needed. This whole green fad pisses me off, cause half the people who preach about this shit, spend their entire lives in front of a computer….Just some food for thought, i’m probably coming off like a dick, but I’ve spent my entire life protecting the natural environment and I get pissed off when people don’t do there homework or talk about shit they have no business talking about. In my opinion this world is worse due to Facebook, internet and everything else that goes with it, people preech about bringing the world together in unity, if you do research throughout history, it will lead to great demise…Both biologically and socially….Just think about mono cultural of plant and trees species, when one gets infected by a virus or disease the whole field goes…the whole crop or plantation is destroyed…Same goes with the human geno…Just some thoughts for you to think about….Not trying to be a dick!!…Hope your well”It’s nice to know I have friends who care more about the environment than…

I’m excited to announce that Twestival Toronto is just around the corner. It will be hosted at Circa on February 12th. If you don’t know Twitter, seriously, get on it!! Join Toronto and 100 other cities around the world for a global party that will help save lives. All the proceeds from Tickets go to charity:water. “Over the last few years Twitter has gained popularity, function, and millions of fans around the world. I’m able to Tweet the crap out of my day while multitasking and be in touch with all kinds of people. I chatted Dad about Tweet deck and he replied with something about deck building! No Dad, TWEET DECK! If you are not on Twitter yet, sheesh, get with it. I know I’m pretty hardcore Internet compared to most people, but Twitter is good for learning about things and being ‘in the know’. My friend told me last week that less than 20% of the population is blogging. This is good, less people writing = more people reading.

It’s been a hot hot day on Twitter! I’ve sent a few updates and been monitoring it fairly close today. Seems that there are a heap of active users Tweeting on this chilly Tuesday in Toronto. I was looking for someone when I got a message that Twitter is Over capacity!! Today I started following The Toronto Star. Great source of news in real time, however, it would be really great if Canada had mobile updates. I really enjoyed getting the mobile updates of people I chose to follow on my phone. I’s a shame that in Canada we are so behind the times in technology as well as style!!

The following was posted on the Twitter Blog regarding outgonig SMS messages in Canada: Canadian SMS service “Unexpected changes in our billing have forced us into a difficult situation with our Canadian SMS service. We can’t afford to support this service given our current arrangement with our providers (where costs have been doubling for the past several months.) As a result, effective today we are no longer delivering outbound SMS over our Canadian shortcode (21212). The ability to update Twitter over SMS will still be supported over 21212. But we know that this is only part of the experience and we want to make Twitter work in the way folks want … regardless of where they live. There is a realistic, scalable SMS solution for Canada (and the rest of the world.) We’re working on that and will post more details on the Twitter blog as we make progress.”
