YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN MY HARD DRIVE

Man I love this guy. Rick Mercer for the win. Imagine the government could peep in your comouter any second.t\ The first thing that it would kill in me is creativity. I love my computer and everyone has some things we don’t want to show others. Mercer’s confident us Canadians aren’t stupid enough to let the Tories peak into our hard drives without a warrant. He might just be right. Like Rick said “that’s why we close our blinds at night”. Well done. Proud to be Canadian. P.S. Check out these TOTALLY INSANE AWESOME book carvings. Yes, books.

Travel Tuesday: I wanna see the world!

On my recent trip I didn’t stay at a resort or all inclusive, I really took time to seek out adventure and make my own path. It was awesome and exciting! Please vote for me (and my cute little cheezy video) in the G Adventures contest. If I’m chosen, I’ll be one of three winners to embark on an unforgettable trip which will be featured in print and online as part of the next G Adventures campaign. You can vote once daily . Ultimately, the finalists & winners are chosen by the GAdventures team but all your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!  Plus, I made it ALL ON MY iPHONE. First iMovie ever FTW! 🙂

Make Time to Give Back & You’ll Have More Time

We are all busy people and it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day routine. I like to be busy, are you kidding? I’d be bored otherwise! Only boring people get bored. I live by my calendar and find the better I get at scheduling, the more I can fit into a day, week, year. Last week I helped launch microvolunteering in Canada with Koodonation. We had a blast playing on all the bouncy things and the winning team from Durham College was awarded $15,000 to a charity of their choice. It’s really easy to volunteer your time ONLINE with Koodonation. Once you sign up it goes a little something like this… It’s simple and you will feel great helping people. Volunteering has been a huge part of my life growing up and allowed me to connect with people I can learn from and also teach others. If you have any questions about getting involved as a charity or a volunteer visit the site here or ask me in the comments. Have an awesome day 🙂

The Cover of Rolling Stone, Sheepdogs & Beerfest

Woo hoo! Canadian bearded babe rockers won the cover of Rolling Stone contest.  I’ve not heard heaps of their music but I like their beards and attitudes from what I’ve seen/read. “We’ve been working hard for a long time,” said the band’s grateful frontman Ewan Currie. “We’re doing our best to stay humble and hard-working, we feel very blessed. All we needed was the attention.” Globe “The music industry has changed so much that there’s no set way of proceeding,” Currie said. “There’s not a formula you follow, like for other careers. You have to sort of jump on any opportunity that comes along and this has been a godsend for us.” Globe “”Good-time rockers The Sheepdogs are proud, bearded rock revivalists, with a whole manner of beards, ‘burns and ‘staches on display over the years. This may help bearded rock ‘n’ roll roll make its return to the cover of Rolling Stone.” CTV “Rock and Rollers from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Specializing in melody, harmony, guitar solos and general feel-goodery. Twitter They made this video to get people voting. I like their style. We may not kill it in sports but we surely are kicking’ it in music. This video of them getting the news from Rolling Stone about winning is pretty good too. This weekend (Sunday) they are playing Beerfest. Everyone can go! Using coupon code ‘CASIE‘ saves you $5 on tickets. Get a ticket here. Will most likely sell out before Sunday. Full band lineup is here.  Our Digital Lounge has seating, wifi, power and lite snacks. <3 Matt Wells had some good Tweets & pix about them in NYC yesterday.  Love seeing Canada kicking a$$ in awesomeness. Good writeup about them in the Globe which included this B&Wphoto. Glad I’m seeing them Sunday so I can decide IRL about the music. I love that look, beard…

I LOVE YOU CANADA! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Saw “Joe Canadian” at a recent Molson event. He’s cute. I’d like to be in a Molson commercial too. I love being Canadian. I’m gonna watch the fireworks from my place tonight. There’s a big barge in the lake near Ontario Place where they set ’em off. Pretty rad. First time they did that was last year I think. We tried to figure out for days what the thing was doing in the lake. Lots of activity happening at Harbourfront Centre too. Reckon the baseball game is about to start cause the cover band just stopped. I’ve been listening from my place to their tunage all morning. Raise a glass today to our fabulous country and say Happy Canada Day! The True North strong and free! Oh Canada, oh oh oh Canada ♥ !

Voter turnout in 2008 was lowest in Canadian History

I know you are really smart because you are here reading this. If you are in Canada you are even awesomer and today you have an election. You get to have a say in what happens in your country, our country. I don’t care who you vote for but please, PLEASE GO OUT AND VOTE.  It’s so important. I rounded up a few things from the internet and I hope they inspire you to go to your polling station and PUT AN X IN A BOX. There is much at stake in this election. Yet the biggest decision for many eligible voters is not whom to choose, but choosing to vote at all. …read more. “stop being such a hipster and go to the polls and vote” These videos were made by KIDS in highschool. They are voting. You know you are legally allowed to leave work & vote. I found out some info about my riding & canditates from Project Democracy. You can find your info there too. I live in the downtown hipster riding. Imagine all of us voted? Our votes make a difference dudes. I read a good article about the ongoing election tweeting debate on canada.com “You can’t stop the tweeting folks“. Maybe we will change a law tomorrow? Do they really think they can put a lid on the information that is being released on the Internet on election day while efforts by other governments to control information in their repressive regimes are proving to be so ineffective? It’s as fruitless as trying to hold your ground while a massive tsunami rushes towards you. If Elections Canada is truly serious about the necessity of concealing election results while some polls are still open, the only way to accomplish it is to keep all the results…

Ladies & gentlemen I am proud to present a new contest series starting today that will take place on Fridays.  Freestyle Friday used to be a club night at Metropolis in Kitchener that was all ages. canada goose 2010 preview: i wanna get goosed

Last night Keri and I went to the Canada Goose 2010 preview. I’ve never owned any Goose gear. Saw heaps of peeps, checked out lots of merch and it was nice to get to know the brand a little better. How cute is this jacket? And this hat? We look good together, don’t we? Jacket is from the kids line. Loves the brightness and it felt really snug & warm. I’d love to be wearing it when I’m going around to Virgin events and  doing all kinds of cool stuff this winter. hint hint 😉 Winter is coming guys. Let shope it’s not too damn cold this year aiiight. I’m ready for hibernation station when it hits.  Actually, I don’t mind winter that much. It doesn’t get nearly as cold now as it did when we were kids. Remember how much show we used to get? Like CRAZY amounts. Canada Goose has these Goose People who brave the elements and do amazing things. I got a prety neat book about them all. I reckon I can do some pretty amazing things too? Maybe I should climb a massive mountain in my spare time. I really like way the companies/agencies are starting to get creative with event activities and take aways. Last night we each got our photo taken in Goose gear, were given it on a branded USB key, then the image was made into a snow globe. (Dad, you are getting this for Christmas. Love you! ) Spotted a couple babes, look at these dashing young men, Paul & Kevin. Twerk. These young fashion bloggers are takin’ ovah. Represent. L-R Nick Sean, Jay Strut, Julio. The shirt I’m wearing is by Andy Hall and Toronto based Canadian designer. Wore a bunch of Andy Hall stuff at NZFW and really…

TIFF day two: apparently somebody is famous

Oh man. Was in bed all day today. I need to rest. I am almost Tiff’d out. Premiere tonight thanks the lovely Cadillac Insider. Going to see CLIENT 9 The rise and fall of Eliot Spitzer. Have to go get my tickets but I don’t want to go outside yet. It sounds windy. Not as sunny today. Yesterday was an awesome day, an awesomely looooong day. Yorkville all day Tastmakers Gifting Lounge for  nails done, makeup and more. Thanks for the presents guys! That neighbourhood is growing on me, could also be that it is Film Fest so buzzing. Joe Fresh makeup is really nice. My lipstick didn’t leave marks when kissing cheeks of all the zillion people I saw throughout the day. Diesel Lounge for lunch on the patio and a mini photo shoot with hot NY photog Raphael Mazzucco. He is apparently a pretty big deal, shooting covers of Time, Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret. Can’t wait to get those photos. He was also very good looking;  tall, long hair, charming. Went to Vitamin Water Backyard Social. Was fun. Did this interview with O’Nizz and had my phototaken heaps. I could really get used to this kinda stuff. Met a few peeps that made a point to come say hi and were really happy to meet me for the first time. HI GUYS! Jeans Publishing: Did you know I wrote a book when I was a teenager?

I was a young entrepreneur. When I was 13, in grade 8, before I had internet, I started a publishing campany called Jeans Publishing with my friend Holly and the help of our Mums. We got funding to start our business and began taking on the DIY (do it yourself) circuit around Ontario attending conferences and seimnars on evenings and weekends.  We often set up a booth to talk about what we were doing and where we wanted to go. We though it was important for young people to have their work published, we were tired of people not taking us seriously just because we were youth. So, we did it ourselves. We started a quarterly newsletter called Jeans Material where we published young peoples work and sent it out to out to over 100 subscribers across Canada. Each subscriber paid $5 for a one year subscription and we printed them all ourselves. We were official with our ISSN which allowed the identification of our serial publication. We wrote an anthology of poetry and prose called JEANS and in 1996 I became a Published Canadian Author. Our book launch was at the Preston Library Branch on November 7, 1996 and we sold 81 books that night. One dollar from the sale of each book went to the local womens crisis shelter. This is me presenting the cheque. Don’t laugh at my bangs, there were horrible back then. Jeans was an acronym that stood for Junior Education & Achivement Network System (tongue twister?). I’ve hunted around the internet to find stuff about it but it was so long ago, there’s nothing. (I’m sure newspaper archives exist.) Here’s what I have kicking around the house, most our stuff back at Mum’s tucked away. We were in heaps of papers and it makes…

happy birthday canada. i ♥ you.

This one time, on Canada Day, when I was 16, I won a beauty pageant. I got to ride in a convertable in the parade and wave like the Queen. It was awesome. I always wanted to do that, so I did. My sister won Little Miss and I was Miss Teen. Long hair and braces, wow, that was a LOOONG time ago. THANK YOU CANADA for being so awesome and a country where I know I can achieve ANYTHING I want. I am proud to be Canadian. I love the Classified version of Oh Canada! Stand on guard for theeeeeeeeeeee!
