Friday is my blog’s 7th birthday and next month is my 30th birthday. I KNOW! Crazy. I feel like a child so often that I can hardly believe I’m about to cross over to a new decade. I welcome it with open arms! I’m not sure WHAT to do but I’ve entered a contest w/ TripOn and the winner gets a free trip for 32 of their friends anywhere TripOn operates. Vote here and I’ll happily bring a bunch of you, friends from the internet, along for the ride and party. They have Buffalo, TFC games, Detroit. We could casino, concert or pretty much anything. Hard part is deciding WHERE to go? Love your thoughts! Where would you go?
BTW, computer is NOT dead. I’m using it right now. Power supply is toast. YAY! <3 CASIE
Had a bit of a heart attack today. MacBook isn’t turning on. Thinking its the power cord. Fingers crossed. We’ll be back on schedule in no time. I hope!! <4 CASE
I’m tempted to write a memoir with this title about my life and the past seven years blogging. I started April 2005, first on myspace, then blogger, then Tumblr, Posterous, and WordPress. Throw all the other platforms into the mix and there has been lots of change in how content is shared and how I personally deliver my stories to the world. It started out as a dairy, a place to keep my memories and back then, I never even imagined it would turn into a career and open up all the doors it has. One of my favourite posts is “A Blog is An Engine” from February 5th, 2010. “A blog is an engine and behind that blog is a person. There, in that very chair, sits a person with bounds of creativity. The type of creativity that you can not ever imagine because it is unimaginable to your mind. It creates. By the time you are reading this the engine has worked twice as fast, faster. The engine is moved by some type of driver and the engine has many tools. It employs services to work as engines in order to make it grow. The production must try to keep up with the mind yet the creativity, it DOES NOT STOP. It flows and drives and moves and the more it makes the more it has for it is infinite.” I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a book for a while. I wrote my first book at 16 and became a published Canadian Author so if I could do it then I can SURELY do it now. I strongly feel that the more creativity I let out, the more I let it flow the more I have. There’s lots going on but that only motivates me MORE to do the things I…
Had brekky, went to Green Living Show. Hanging out today. Pretty close to best thing ever. Love you Mum xo
Yesterday Raymi and I met up for a girl date & shopping party at 3F at Young Dundas. I’ll have some more info about WHO & WHAT 3F is soon. Short version is 3F Fashions comes from a high end texttile company that works w/ Calvin Klein for their fabrics and I’ve just joined their Board of Directors. I’ll be at the store today w/ Z103.5 Radio & recording artist Aleesia for public shopping part w/ 25% off everything. Follow 3F on Twitter at @Ffashions. Its FRIDAY the 13th.. Which means its gonna be a freakyyy day! Come down to @3FFashions between 5-7pm & enter to win a $500 shopping spree! — Aleesia (@aleesiamusic) April 13, 2012 Raymi and I tried on SO MANY things. the fabrics are really nice and the price points are affordable. I picked up a super cute demin onesie jumper, frilly denim shirt, some khaki jeans, a super soft long maxi dress and a few other items you’ll see this spring. Raymi has a bunch of photos on her camera of our outfits that I’ll share after she posts. These are all from iPhone! 3F is a sponsor for Ryerson’s HUGE annual fashion show, Mass Exodus. We got to sit from & centre for the production which was very well done. Lots of talent at that school! Way to go Canadian fashion! Ryerson fashion show used @richaucoin in Canadian music selection. Nice one. #massex2012 — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) April 12, 2012 Ballet collection was to die for. So great. #massex2012 — Tiffany Aita (@tiffanyaita) April 12, 2012 Ended the night at DefineTO event at Easy on the 5th. Wearing the new vest i got from Peacock Parade, skirt from overseas, Jeffrey Campbell ‘Back Off’ & Nella Bella bag. This is my song of the day:…
I’m a huge fan of wearing glasses. They’re a statement piece for your face and can change a somewhat boring outfit into something with a lot more style. I’ve had glasses since my first eye checkup in high school. They were my first ever high end designer item too. I saw a pair of Gucci frames before I went in to get my eyes checked, as we were wrapping up my appointment the doctor told my my eyes were near perfect. You think a girl would be happy about that, no, I wanted those GUCCI GLASSES! Fortunate for fashion, I was able to get them in the weakest possible prescription and Mum & I went home happy after placing the order. Now that I’m grown up (sounds so weird to say that, but anyways) I have to get my own glasses. A good price and easy shopping experience are important. Yesterday I chatted with Derek Derek Desierto’s about his top picks top picks for the spring and summer. Derek is a Canadian celebrity eyeglass stylist and the in-house designer for Clearlycontacts.ca. Listen here: Derek styled my face with the handy Virtual Mirror I told you about in January. In our short talk I learned that you should pick glasses that are the opposite shape of your face ex. square face, round glasses etc. These are a few of his latest designs w/ Clearly Contacts. Any guesses which ones I picked before looking two inches down the page? (Worst guessing game ever, I know) I went for the fashionable & feminine Birch: They should arrive next week and I will do an unboxing & try them on for you style like I did last time. Follow Derek & I on Twitter at @mrdesierto & @casiestewart. Check out this TOTALLY rad commercial for HTC that…
Welcome to my grass patch, glass castle in the sky. Shopped the Peacock Parade sale yesterday. Got the vest. You like? I love. There were so many nice things. I realized I have a clothes problem when I looked through the Line Knitwear leathers and found one of my own, the shoes that matched ones I have. I must clean my room. I attempted last weekend but failed. They had a bunch of stuff by Nicole Miller. Remember when her and I were hanging out with Derek in New Zealand? SO fun. The cafe at the hipster Queen Street Loblaws is great for people watching. It’s also sunny. Had a second of sadness as the Fashion Television truck drove by. No more FT. I hear the Dare to Wear Love fashion show was on it. A couple people said they saw me. LIFE GOAL, check that one off the Bucket List. Loved that show for over 20 years. That’s my Tattoo shop beside Shoppers, FY Ink. I’ve got an appointment there tomorrow to get some work on my sleeve done. I’m so incredibly excited. A hot blonde girl is doing it. This is my Sharpie rendition. I always draw them on first, hence why right arm is being done. I’m left handed! Today & tomorrow is a HUGE Billabong sample sale. It used to be held in the Carpet Factory building in Liberty Village when i worked there and I got heaps of stuff over the years. Good prices, lots of merch. I’ve been wearing Billabong for ages, see all kinds of past outfits here.
Ok, I know the Facebook + Instagram thing is ‘so yesterday’ like Mandy Moore but it has totally sparked my interest a VC funding and who’s gonna buy what next. I have a feeling that Google is going to make a move, talk about Google+ is all over the place but who is really using it? I do, kinda, when I upload photos to Picasa but I’m not accessing it directly. Did you hear that Microsoft bought Netscape? NETSCAPE? Some millennial monsters won’t even know what that IS! I have a feeling Blackberry is working on something, possible a merger or acquisition of or by another company. Maybe Google? I’m just thinking out loud, and by out loud I mean here. My thinking place. I wanna get them in writing just in case I’m correct, Gary Vaynerchuck predicted the Instagram/Facebook thing months ago. Feel free to pipe in any moment with your own thoughts. Maybe Google will buy Pinterest and integrate it into their newly added larger profile photos a la Facebook timeline. Who knows? Who cares really. The internet is our playground 🙂 BTW, add me on Instragram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Google+. <3 CASIE Made a cameo in a friend’s vid about the Facestagram thing:
It’s been going around the internet and I have to show you. It really touched my heart. I had such a WILD imagination when I was a kid. Always starting businesses, telling stories and putting on shows. Don’t ever lose that passion for life. Don’t ever lose that love. Don’t ever stop being a kid 🙂 Have a magical day 🙂 <3 CASIE If it makes you feel any better, I bawlllled my eyes out. K. bye.
Hallo & guten morgen! I woke up earlier than my alarm, reckon that’s a true sign of a happy life. Lots to do this week! OK, LEGGGGGGGO! Thursday is MASS EXODUS the annual fashion show put on by Ryerson University’s School of Fashion. I attended the show in 2010 wich featured a rad performance by Fritz Helder. This year I’m working with one of the sponsors, 3F and I’ll be attending Thursday for media night. Promo video for Ryerson’s MASS EXODUS 2012: Today I get to see all those photos from the super professional shoot I had last week w/ Adrian Fiebig. I’m pretty stoked. Planned a new tattoo I’m getting Friday, y’know, Friday the 13th. I used to hate the day until I took charge and got a tattoo I loved one fine Friday the 13th many moons ago (story here). It was way back when I had no tattoos on my arms at all. Well, that’s never gonna happen again! New tattoo goes with Sailor Jerry sleeve theme and there’s a heart and a girl involved. SWORN TO SECRECY! Ok, jk, it’s kinda like this. This afternoon I’m heading to the fashionable Burroughes Building at 639 Queen St. The Peacock Parade and their event partners, Foxy Originals, Luved Clothing and This Is J. Have you checked out Peacock Parade before? I’m just about to make my very first purchase! The company is a Toronto based startup that offers different sales each day on really, really nice designer items. Looking good is feeling good baby! Deets on the Peacock Parade Pop-up Shop: Remember how excited the world was when this game out? I’m feeling Gaga inspired today so I just watched it again. Have fun with it stuck on your head ALL DAY! BTW my Hunger Games obsession has been taken to a new level, I ordered a Mockingjay pendant from Etsy. OBSESSED.…
Meet one of my most fav gifs ever. Found it yesterday and it’s done by friend & photog Nate Kogan. NATE! How fun is this, the moves the glitter. I’m in love. SO CUTE! Have you checked out Keri Blog recently? She’s still been a nomad since January 1, 2012 & just kicked off her security show, Smarten Up Internet. Keri’s got the beat on how to keep your computer and gadgets safe and she could hack your computer from a wifi right in front of you. She hacked me once, September 14, 2011 exactly at 4:20. I just realized the time. We were at a coffee shop in Toronto. I didn’t even notice until she Tweeted, from MY account. Hey guys it’s @KeriBlog and I just hacked Casie’s account. — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) September 14, 2011 Thank you for tweeting: So funny. Her blog is full of haha humor. That reminds me, I haven’t gone for Ethiopian food in a while. I’m a little bit obsessing over the HG. I can’t help it. I don’t know how to explain this. Sorry/you’re welcome. I just about died laughing my all off. First one I saw was Hunger Games Effie then Hawaii & Kate. The band is a Swedish group of cool kids and they made this to promote the song. Thanks Kate for the low down. They released their song on Spotify. I don’t have Spotify anymore because of this, then we talked about it at Canadian Music Week. Den officiella…
My friend Stephen Henrik made this last night on the Instagram deal you’ll get a laugh out of especially if you read or watch Game of Thrones. There’s a play on the classic “iPhone4 vs HTC Evo” video and “Shit Girls Say” Enjoy…. What if Mark Zuckerberg and Kevin Systrom negotiated the Instagram deal like a Game of Thrones? In other news, check this out! Randeep Katari is an awesome Canadian export living in NYC and his Tumblr is now internet famous! He drew a sketch of me a couple years ago one night. I must find that sketchbook page! Good work Randeep, we miss ya. – CASIE

LISTEN TO IT HERE: Psychology of Narcissism & How It Affects Brands I listened to it last night, I think you will like it. I make a couple jokes half way through and the discussion really gets going there. I mention a few brands and we all get some info from Dr. Jacob Small and clinical psychotherapist from New York. It’s about an hour with the final Q&A. Let me know what you think. I’m doing a similar talk about psychology, narcissism and brands in July at NXNE. To attend it get a NXNE pass HERE before they go up in price on April 13th. Not exactly sure the day I’m be speaking at NXNE. I’m on more than one panel and there is a TON of great speakers & panels in both music & interactive. I’ll be giving some tickets away closer to the date. This is of the questions we discuss in the panel and I’d love to know your thoughts on the subject. Do you think the internet breeds narcissism?
Older people always tell you ‘time goes fast then’ you get older and you become that person. It’s true. Both things. When I get really drained from life & the city I like going back to my home town. I grew up in Cambridge, Ontario, I went there this weekend. Have you been? It’s quite lovely, and quiet and you can see way more stars. I have a group of friends there that I always see. One even lives across the street in Toronto but I pretty much only get together him when we’re all home for a holiday. It’s awesome. No matter how tired I get from travel, events, work life, nothing reenergizes me like some home cooking and chatting at a familiar place with the crew. Other great re-energizers are yoga and cottages. This weekend has for once (in a longish while) been really relaxing. Saturday night I had a hot tub and went to bed early. Friday night I had poutine and some serious Draw Something. Add me: casiestewart. We all get so busy and technology is such a part of our lives that it’s really hard to shut off. Ok not for everyoneeeee but lots of us. Especially me. I’m sitting in my old room at Mum’s as I wrote this and it’s quite magical how inspiring it is for creativity. Tonight her and I went on a date to see Hunger Games and I loved it; girls night AND the actual movie. Have you seen it? The fashion made me really excited for Halloween. Or whenever! Look at those lashes and hair. I love this, I do. Hat gloves, earings, eyebrows, lipstick. I know I’m late to the boat but sheesh, why didn’t anyone inform me of this. There was even love story! The movie used 35 full-time makeup artists. And there were…
Had a couple photoshoots last week. Kate & I were shot by Matt Shore down by the lake. I was shot by Adrian Fiebig. Can we say professional?! I also went to Wrongbar, chalked my hair blue and put my nose ring back in. It was a busy week! <3 CASIE
This is Will. Will is amazing. Watch his story. He’s having an impromptu Penny Drive for his 75km Ride for Heart June 3rd in Toronto. I would love you to help me ‘show your roll’ and donate to Will’s Ride for Heart. I dare you to watch this any not cry. I’m off to High Park to support a friend in the Harry Rosed run for prostate cancer. It’s beautiful & sunny out. Enjoy the day. Bon weekend! <3 CASIE
Was at really beautiful studio yesterday having my photo taken by the talented Adrian Fiebig. I’d love to live in an old building with one of these elevators. My aunt Robyn used to lived in this really neat building in Maine with one and I’ve loved them ever since. I absolutely love having my makeup done. Elena is excellent! Had a meeting this morning about an upcoming fashion project. It’s gonna be a fun one, I can’t wait to share it with you. More work to be done. Enjoy the day, it’s beautiful out! Long weekend & sunshine ahead! <3 CASIE
Went to The Hoxton last night for launch of Parts & Labour Catering. Everyone & their blog was there. Look, two of your most favourite blonde blogging buddies together again. Brown Barbie is a really good date. Ever had a bacon wrapped date? Yeah it was so good. I needed a bigger fork to shovel this tasty poutine into my mouth. I didn’t make it to the taco station but I heard they were tasty. I must have missed the large meat table, one of my fav things at P&L parties. I’m Grimes. #oblivion #digin #hoxton Apr 5, 2012 | Source: Keek.com Some ding dong tried to say Raymi and I are not friends. Why do people do this? I don’t get it. Don’t talk smack, just deal with it. My dress from Bicyclette was a statement piece. Souvenir from the night, signature P&L hat. Thanks for a fun time old friends! <3 CASIE
Then you found it, what would you sacrifice? Think about it. Then think about what you are searching for and go find it. Title is a quote from Ian Ruhter who has taken a delivery truck and his life savings to create a massive camera based on the 1800 wet plate technique. It is incredibly interesting and beautiful. It will inspire you, it inspired me. Following his passion for film photography he travels around American shooting photographs that cost him $500 dollars per image. My sister Jenie took this cool shot yesterday from the highway on iPhone. So happy she has iPhone. Found this little guy in our quest to make jewellery. Do you know who he is? Have a really busy day today. Teaching a private blog lesson in an hour then off to a meeting about upcoming charity event then rushing to studio for a photoshoot for upcoming project. It sounds fun but it’s gonna be a rushed day. Heading to Hoxton later for the launch of P&L Catering. Everyone and their blog will be there I’m sure. Some staples in my day, good book (know which one?), sunnies (RayBans), stylus (drawing), Macbook, sketchbook for notes, Sharpie pen for writing everything down. Some friends created this totally awesome app that’s a hybrid between video & photo called Flixel. Check out this one I made the other day. CRAZY cool. I’m gonna make a whole Flixel post soon. Took this just now off the balcony, it’s beautiful out there. GO! Go out and do something awesome. Maybe it’s just a little walk in the sun. Have fun 🙂 <3 CASIE
It’s always been one of my favourites. I’ve been working from standing desk every Monday and I’ve found it to really increase my productivity. I’m working with a bunch of new people in exciting projects. I’ve just joined the Board of Directors for a new fashion brand 3F, who has a store at Yonge & Dundas. More on that in the coming weeks… Made my fav lunch today, Campbells Tomato Soup with rye toast. Something about it makes me feel right at home. Mum used to make it for me all the time. Barbie and I turned out living room into a jewellery studio last night. We were much more successful at mess making than starting a new line of anything. We won’t be quitting our day jobs anytime soon. I made this necklace that includes some pieces of old things I had in these many bins. I wanted to make something with keys on it after seeing a few on Pinterest and as SOOON AS I was done. I got an email from Stolen Girlsfriends Club (my fav NZ designers) and they had a similar necklace that just came out. You could say I’m quite on trend 😉 Concierge rung me to let me know I received a fancy looking package from KitKat. Lucky me! It’s actually really cute & full of things to de-stress myself; chocolate, stress ball, tea, iTunes card, note pad and some really good smelling tobacco oil. The ‘Take-a-Break’ kit came to inform me about National Stress Awareness Month. KitKat is giving away all kinds of money & prizes on their FB page at facebook.com/kitkat. Getting a prize of $100K would CERTAINLY alleviate an stress I have. For now, I’ll take the snacks. Thanks guys! Off to a meeting next door then back home to dive into this chocolate & tea. Have an awesome day! <3…
“There’s something sacred about reading a blog post on someone else’s site. It’s like visiting a friend’s house for a quick meal ’round the breakfast table. It’s personal — you’re in their space, and the environment is uniquely suited for idea exchange and uninterrupted conversation. In many ways, we should be treating our blogs like our breakfast tables. Be welcoming & gracious when you host, and kind & respectful when visiting.” – Trent Walton Thanks Kate for sharing this quote. This month marks SEVEN years I’ve been blog writing and I’m pretty proud of that. It started out as a journal of “people, places, things & thoughts in an attempt to keep more memories” and it’s done that and so much more. See original Blogspot blog here. It’s opened up doors to things I only ever dreamed about doing and allowed me to connect with amazing people all over the world. I love opening this window to my life and sharing it with you. Thank you for being part of my (this is) my life. I’ve had a slew of different jobs in fashion, tech, and entertainment which have all shaped the person I am now. Many moons ago I found out that Martha Stewart started her empire at her kitchen table. Just like her and many entrepreneurs, I started there too. I would sit for hours and create things. One of the first companies I started was Kitchen Table Productions in 2005. I wasn’t sure what I was gong to do exactly, but I knew we would be producing things and they would creative, they would be media. I’ve always looked up to Martha in the way that she has branded herself in so many areas, product lines and really grabbed business by the reins. Never mind the short term she spent in jail! I…
Got some pretty rad stuff in the mail recently. Leggo! Nail Polish Canada invited me to try out Magnetix China Glaze. It’s a nail polish with magnetic properties that does these funky designs when you hold a stylized magnet once you put on the polish. It’s not hard to do and looks quite fancy. The package says to hold the magnet there for 5-10 seconds but I suggest holding the magnet there for at least 20 seconds really helps. Colours here are ‘You Move Me’ and ‘Instant Chemistry’. That’s what’s up. #magnetix magnetic nailpolish #smallwins yfrog.com/obyyszkj — Brown Barbie (@itsbrownbarbie) February 20, 2012 The peeps at Hanes sent a pile of hosiery and filled me in about a contest on their Facebook page. If you enter, you’re eligible to get Hanes Hosiery and a $50 VISA gift card. That pair in the middle are like fishnets but little squares (cue Weeds theme song ‘Little Boxes) and I love ’em. Really clear blue skies in Toronto today. The air is a bit chilly but I’ve had the patio door open all day. So good. And…for the final mail item of the day… I’ve wanted one of these F-O-R-E-V-E-R… Gun Metal studded iPhone case! It just came today from my friend Andrew. There’s a whole bunch of different cases available at Felony Case and if you order one use CASIESTEWART discount for $10 off. If anyone tries to every steal my iPhone, I’ll be able to defend myself. This thing is sturdy! My friend Jen from She Does the City recently was punched in the face and had her iPhone stolen. No joke. Scary! Read it here. This weekend I hung out with O’Nizzle, who played a good April Fools joke, Raymi for her 29th birthday and Saroox came along too. Each girls name links to their blog…
I recently went on a two day travel adventure with about 10 media peeps to the Canadian Club HQ in Windsor, Ontario. Lemme tell ya, you put a bunch of grownups (yeah, sounds weird eh?!) on a bus it’s just like being in school. Limo’s picked us all up, then we sitched to a stretch limo bus and off we went. I shared a few photos about two weeks ago but these are the official Praxis PR ones taken by Ryan Emberly with a camera. See the whole album here. I absolutely loved this adventure. I felt like a kid the whole time, except well, the fact that we were drinking whisky. We arrived at the brand centre and were invited to make out own drinks. It was awesome. We had a tour of the place, learned the history, had a few more drinks and relaxed outside in the sun. It was super relax but well organized. I can conly imagine the stories those walls could tell. The building is really, really old and was the main for trading liquor across the border during prohibition. The tunnel is still there and a few of the boys actually went in it. I was wearing a dress so I didn’t climb down but I took a video. Brock is down there somewhere. There was a whole bunch of ‘fake’ Canadian Club that people used to sell during prohibition. I’d love to have this Toronto stuff, I wonder how it is compared to the original CC? In the afternoon we played a game that had us running about the entire place with fake guns in teams. It was hilarious. School trip. Riot. This photo was taken in the original Speakeasy in the basement of the CC HQ. Al Capone used to hang out here.…
Went for a run this afternoon after getting inspired a post by titled ‘Women, Fitness & The Myth‘ written by by Bangs & a Bun. She’s one of my fav writers and my fav UK blogger. I’ve been followung her for years and seeing her progress in business, blogging and fitness is motivating. Her latest venture Spikes & Heels is what got me to put on my shoes and kick some pavement. I’m so glad I did! It’s an incredibly beautiful day in the city. Took this using 360 Panoramic app in iPhone from hTO Park (Urban Beach) which is right beside the lake. If you stand on this one certain rock you can perfectly hide the CN Tower. Empire Sandy, looking dandy. I’d love to go on a sail for my birthday. A sail for let’s say, 30 people? 30th birthday. Does anyone know who can make this happen? It would be magical. Somebody was backed up at Lower Spadina. Shadow play 🙂 Toronto Music Garden is one of my most favourite places in the city. This tower has a beautiful story, if you go there you’ll see it. One time Keri and I did this MEGA Planking thing for ‘World Plank Day‘ in 2011 when it was cool for like a week. Most of them were done in the music garden, see here. It’s almost Earth hur for Earth Day and I’m planning to be out of the house. Have a great night! <3 CASIE
