advanced twitter search

If you don’t know what you’re search for, it’s hard to find it. Depends what you’re searching but twitter search is kinda fun. Advanced options make searching for what you want  easier, not harder.  Positive attitude comes up in the search bar as a winky face 🙂 i like it I watched 50 First Dates today. I imagine losing my memory…writing a post of what I did everyday, it would be the only way to go on. Ya, great idea…make a new movie about a girl with a blog who forgets, there’s an idea. Talk about social media robot! New event, new people everyday. Online update, real life modern Truman, human. By the way, there’s body scans and pat downs at the airport now, wear nice undies and good bra if you have boobs. Check out this kid, barefoot bandit! He’s a little badass.  I loved catch me if you can… Frank Abagnale Jr.

i pay it backward. do you?

Earlier this year I was part of the team behind the first Pay it Backward. I was Chief Firecracker and my job was to get everyone excited. Let me tell you, it was out-of-this-world-crazy-fun!!  We broke a Guinness World Record too. On September 30th, you can join this amazing effort in social good just by visiting one of over 170 Second Cup locations and buying the person BEHIND you in line a coffee.  Second Cup will donate all proceeds straight to the Sick Kids Foundation. How cool is that?! Imagine if everyone got involved? That a whole lotta good going on! I’m excited. I  just watched this awesome video by Notable TV and it gave me goosebumps knowing the positive the social force behind it. Enjoy. If you have a story from Pay it Backward Day I’d love to hear it 🙂

blog in full sentence, tweet the headlines

Wake up at 6 am reach for water forgetting the pain and feel a sharp knife in my back. Take in medicine, deep breath, exhale. I lay down slowly as not to get that knife again and fall back to sleep. Wake up reach for water, the knife strikes again, twice. I take twice as long to get ready. Slowly put on underwear with out falling, I dress in comfy clothes. Dust off the running shoes and the knife strikes as the cat scurries by. I ignore the pain and I and I tie them up. Reminder to eat something before medicine and get change for street car. Off the bike for a while.  Everything is taking longer, taking longer. I wait for the streetcar, preying for a seat. Every bump or stop on the ride is amplified to me right now. Standing would be torture. I see a girl with a backpack, strangely I wish I could wear a backpack. I’d look like a highschooler in these Lulu’s and flower hoodie.  Cute boy briskly passes me on the sidewalk; I’m almost at medium pace. No head  turns. I want an iphone badly. Riding public transit is good for writing. Each car is full of stories waiting to be told.  I look like I’m aggressively texting non stop about something important. I am, my thoughts are important. The pain medicine sinks in as I swivel in my desk chair. Brief red carpet outing last night…

hello hollywood glamour!

The night was warm as over four hundred fine people walked the red carpet boarding the yacht. Toronto is full of do-gooders and together we surpassed our goal raising over $600o for Meal Exchange. Thank you everyone that purchased event tickets, raffle tickets and came out to have fun! Along with raising awareness of an awesome national student-founded, youth-driven charity, our donation will result in mentoring over 214 youth and providing over 7,500 meals to those in need. Thanks to Mariposa Cruise Lines for giving us a great spot to have a party and the Argo girls for coming out too. They’re lined up here to chat with Rob from Smojoe.com. Check out the photos from our wonderful photographers Rosa Park, Say Yeah, and Chris G. The next Twestival is in the new year and will an opportunity to tweet, meet and give for a global cause.  It will obviously be a night not to miss!  Have a great day. I did an interview for Daniele Rossi’s Creative Bender radio show after getting back on land. Take a listen, it’s short & sweet.

it’s the little things that matter most

Thank You Sprouter! from my heart I met Sarah Prevette and Erin Bury early this year when I volunteered to be on the team for Twestival. At the time they were Redwire and the power behind the greatness that was hosting the event. Being part of the team and getting to know them was an awesome experience. We have since worked on a bunch of things together and I try to help out where I can. The office admin girl came over and said ‘you’re so lucky’ as she dropped a beautiful green money tree at my desk. Interestingly enough, I mentioned earlier that karma goes around and shows up when you least expect it. I feel so lucky today. Thank you. Looking forward to Twestival Local on September 12th, mark your calendars!

you can’t rain on my parade

Good Morning! I feel like I could be a radio show today. I am happy to be at work. It’s a beautiful day might even thunderstorm later. The ride in is what I have been missing for the past two weeks. Breaks fixed. Wore my helmet and felt good about it. Smarter, like it keeps my thoughts all bunched up close together and in a jumble and now I sit here and they all flow out like waterfalls fast how I like them to.  Held my nose past the slaughterhouse, stinks bad man. Gross. NO strikers anymore. Good thing. Saw a soda pop  van covered in astro-turf grass. Breakfast Television has lost my interest but I like the news and weather of CP24. Hot today still humid. Thunderstorm would be nice. I like to ride through the puddles. Dad’s got a sewing machine for me and I’ve got heaps of fabric and vintage patterns at home. Really excited. Twestival Local is coming up September 12th 2009, mark your calendar. In Twestival Global raised over $250,000.00 for charity: water. It was really fun. Twitter has grown so much since February. I hope it rains when I bike home.

his name is robert but you can call him bobby

I spent the whole day lazing around in the sunshine in the pool. It was simply divine. As I laid there floating in the pool gazing up at the blue sky and occasional cloud, I thought, it doesn’t get any better than this. It did get better. Ellen checked into the hotel and Bob took me on a secret excursion. I had no idea and was I ever surprised. They knew I’ve been looking for a new laptop and Bob woke up this morning and told Ellen he was gonna surprise me with one today.  I just about died when he said ‘we’re going to get you a laptop right now’. We went, I got. I’m still smiling and I’m super excited. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I named him Robert after Bob and I’m extremely grateful to have you both in my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  This kiss is for you.

bike helmet meets babe

I’ve been avoiding wearing/getting a helmet despite Mum’s efforts to convince me I need one. This is going to be hard for Mum to read the most I think… Last night at the intersection where near my house, a 34 year old woman was  hit almost killed when a car struck her while biking. She was not wearing a helmet. The streets were closed off and as I rode by and saw the lonely bike standing beside the police car, my heart dropped. I took these photos on the way to meet Saul Colt for dinner. The accident happened while I was there and 3 blocks behind me in the photo. I’m going to get a helmet within the next week. I will be photo-blogging it all the time. If you or your company wanna be my helmet head sponsor please email [email protected]

i forgot to tell you something

I loved seeing you last night. Your smile. Your laugh. Your arms. I like the way you make me feel. Happy. Your honesty is admired. I love you too much to let you just go. You make me happy and you also see right through my charade. I know you do. I like it but it scares me. More than anything. A scared-ness I like, I love. A scared that makes me love you even more because you, you are the only one who I let see the real me.  To me, you are the greatest. I wanted to tell you last night but I didn’t……I love you. michael jackson memorial day

Post was updated as the memortial was on ok… Starts in about an hour and a half. Watching live on CNN.   They expect the MJ Fan page to go over 7 million after today.  I wanted to get in on the live stream early. Heard rumors the memorial might break the internet! Ok, it’s started now. By the looks of Twitter, it’s the only thing happening in the world right now. Good one MJ.  Nice work. By the way sleeveface.com. Totally hilarious…

it’s all for a notable cause

I’m giving you a heads up about a meetup for a good cause tomorrow in support of the National Kids Cancer Ride! New York Fries and Notable TV are having a massive meet-up tomorrow, June 18 at Yonge & Dundas Square. My friend and  Notable TV Founder Julian Brass set a goal to take over downtown’s busiest intersection with hundreds of fry-eating people all supporting the National Kids Cancer Ride. NY Fries will be donating $1 from every regular fries and meal sold on June 18th to the National Kids Cancer Ride. Awesome! Join the group on Facebook and I’ll see you there tomorrow!

i’m your suggested contact

Yesterday I was at MaRS for Net Change Week. I was an expert at Social Mastermind // Social Media for Social Change hosted by RedWire.  I had the opportunity to share ideas and brainstorm with the ladies from Raising the Roof Canada’s only national charity for the homeless. I really enjoyed learning about homelessness in Canada and was happy to chat about their youth initiative.   They haven’t really tapped into social media which  gave me lots of opportunity to share my ideas on how they can use social media for good. There was lots of Twitter talk!!  In the end, each group came up with a tangible strategy that they could to take back to the office and execute. It was awesome to see  friends hard at work helping charities. Prime example, these fine gentleman…@d_hock, Andrew Lane from @nitchblog and Julian Brass from @notableTV. I’m have always been very interested in youth issues. When I was in high school I was Director of PR on the City Youth Council and we started a rock festival and opened a drop-in centre for city youth.  It was rewarding and gave me an opportunity to learn a lot about PR and how to turn ideas into reality.  In the evening session I made an appearance at Wired Wednesday. Everyone was wearing name tags with a suggested contact on it…I was theirs.
