Sail away with me, my love…

IMG_9459.JPG

Our friends got married yesterday and it was so incredibly beautiful. They tied the knot on a tall ship while sailing the harbour. We cruised to the island for a great dinner and party. It was magical. It’s been ages since I attended a wedding and it was SO FUN. More weddings! I love love.

Congrats Chris & Ariel!

IMG_9519.JPG

It was my first time on the island all summer. Can you believe next week is September? TIFF? Ahhhhh. This week is going to be super hot and I’m thinking about going back to the beach while I still have a chance.

Here’s to a great week! Hopefully love is in the air for you too. Go hug someone you care about!

Video: The Fusion/Notable Icon Series – Playa Hacienda

Video: The Fusion/Notable Icon Series – Playa Hacienda

I recently hung out with some of Toronto;s finest at an intimate dinner w/ Notable and Ford Canada for the first event in their new national Icon series. We dined on delicious Mexican food and were inspired by Playa Cabana founder Dave Sidhu. FYI the Cantina burrito at Playa Cabana is my most favourite burrito I’ve ever, ever had. I love it.

This is the first video documenting a series of 9 top secret events across the country with some of the Canada’s finest talent. To see more in this series visit notable.ca.

I Saw the Premiere of #Outlander and It’s Steamy…

#Outlander on Showcase

_AM83499

This week I hung out with Showcase + Shaw Media for the premiere of their new show Outlander at The Caledonian on College. The series is based on the books by Diana Gabaldon. It’s pretty steamy and by that I mean I was like ‘omg’, jaw dropped, hand on chest in the first 10 minutes.

It’s based in Scotland, accents and all. Outlander airs on Showcase Sundays at 10pm ET/PT, beginning August 24. You can follow them on Twitter @showcasedotca and they’ll be using the #Outlander hashtag when the show is on. Social tv ftw.

Thanks for having me guys! Sláinte!

Blog Life: This Is How We Do

#thisishowwedo

You know face you make when you’re looking deep into the computer working away on something? It’s on  we all know well! This was me yesterday afternoon..and most days actually. Concentrating, editing, writing, coding, emailing, blogging, thinking, working, twerking. Ok, only sometimes on the last one!

Went for a run this morning and pushed myself a bit harder. Feeling fresh and inspired. It’s so nice out, you should go outside. It was 21 at 9am! This is how we do!

THISISHOWWEDO

I’ve learned a lot of thing blogging the last (almost) 10 years. I can hardly believe it’s been so long. Persistence is a big part if making your dreams a reality. I thought about giving up a few times and doing something more traditional, like not keeping a diary of my life on the internet but each time I decide to go on, something amazing happens. This was a good little read:

I’ve seen a ton of bloggers come and go over the years and I think that’s due the fact that people don’t realize how much work and energy it is. TBH, sometimes it’s totally exhausting! It also takes a time to build a brand, trust, a reputation, all which can be destroyed in an instant. I always remember this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt and think it’s best to surround your self with great minds.

“Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”

I’ve always counted on Mum to be my first phone when something exciting happens instead of telling friends or the world right away. She can always tell when i’s something big. I’ll ring her at work and say ‘OMG Mum, guess what?!”. I know she loves it. I like to save up exciting things and share them once they happen.

In other news, saw this on M3 today and like, I love her. The Pee Wee Hermans? So cute.

I hope you have a great day. Go get some of that sunshine on your face! Make sure you are wearing SPF tho.

TURONNO: Where It’s At!

Turonno shirt by The Button Machine via @casiestewart

OH HEYYYYYYYY. LIKE MY NEW SHIRT?

I came across this beauty and just had to have it! They were out of stock when I placed my order so I kinda forgot about it, then when I came home from vacation, it was here. ‘Turonno’ by Button Machine calls to how us Torontonians say ‘Toronto’. Nobody says ‘Tor-onto’ we all say Turonno.

I absolutely LOVE when brands send it little ad-ons when you buy something online. They included their ‘Ol’ Dirty Rob‘ sticker. Thanks guys!

IMG_9085-1.JPG

In other news, I really hope we get a new mayor when the election rolls around. Our choices aren’t that great, but just about anyone is better than RoFo!

IMG_9202.JPG

You can get your very own Turonno shirt or tank here.

MUCH LOVE FROM THE T.DOT, The 6, TEEOHH, TURONNO! BYE FELICIA.

What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

IMG_9160.JPG

I had a great day yesterday. I haven’t taken the subway for a while. It’s different taking the subway during work hours. I always wonder what everyone is doing. I don’t mind the streetcar, I don’t like the underground. I used to write TTC Tales (last one 2012) when I took the TTC to work. At one time, I travelled about an hour each way to work. I made a few videos about TTC loudtalkers after that. I wouldn’t make those videos now, social media wasn’t as popular back then.

Heading easton the Bloor Line; try not to make eye contact. Look out the window, look out window. There’s a young guy with his sunglasses on playing golf on an iPad. I can’t see if he has a bag…is just carrying the thing? I smell hot food. It’s not McDonalds. Doors open. Please don’t let someone gross sit beside me…

Went to the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market yesterday to pick up some green goodness. The market is on each Tuesday in the summer from 3-7pm. I was so hungry that I started chomping on lettuce leaves as I walked down Dundas. It was delicious. I can only imagine what I looked like walking down the street eating leafy greens. 🙂

Passed this house on Dovercourt, as I so often do and asked on Twitter if anyone had seen inside it. Have you? Turns out it’s crazy!

IMG_9129.JPG

The decor has some personality. It’s not for everyone but I would love to have this house. It’s right in my fav part of town and if I could afford it and do some renos, I’d be all over it. Kick out all the furniture and add some mod! It reminds me of my grandpa Doug’s house growing up. His place was pretty huge with all kinds of rooms and a massive tree in the middle of it.

224 Dovercourt

Just saw the new Coldplay on M3 and digging this song. Chris Martin is looking hot.

My mantra for today is “What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?” a quote by Robert H. Schuller.  Imagine you were given an opportunity to do anything your little heart desired, what would you do? Think about it. I’ll be thinking abou tit too.

In other news, off to shoot w/ Bench Canada for a fall campaign this afternoon. Cross your fingers for NO RAIN!
Sending sunshine your way,

Dance w/ Me: #TedBakerAW14 + Holiday Preview

#TEDBAKERAW14 Preview

IMG_9096.JPG

Last night I checked out the AW14 + holiday collections from Ted Baker London at Danceology in Liberty Village. I got to preview a few items a couple weeks ago an upcoming feature shot by  George Pimentel, wore the pink dress!

There are some incredibly beautiful items. Ted is a brand with impeccable details, the buttons, collars, inner linings, everything has a touch of personality. The holiday stuff is dreamy with heaps of sparkles. There’s a couple great leather items including a moto jacket with sleeves and a fur collar that zip off.

IMG_9114.JPG

I love this one. All leather. So soft.

IMG_9059.JPG

IMG_9052.JPG

IMG_9054.JPG

I love this little riding hat. Andrew Dobson just posted a story w/ a riding hat like this in Metro. But it has a long pony! BTW if you want a marble phone case you can get one here.

IMG_9046.JPG

In other news, there’s a Ted Baker London store opening at the Eaton Centre in October. It’s going to be located on the third floor right across from the Apple Store. Pretty stoked! As an ambassador I’ve hosted a few events at the Yorkdale shop but it’s so far! Stay tuned for the next shopping party!

See the full AW14 collection at tedbaker.com or pop by your closest shop in September. Hope your week is off to a great start.

Much love!

Montreal Roadtrip! #tbt

A couple of years ago Sean and I took a trip to Montreal for a weekend. We stayed at the W Montreal and had driven there in a car from Ford Canada. Montreal is dreamy in the summer. The W Hotel has a great breakfast, it’s own nightlife, and an in-suite tub you could stay in all afternoon. We had dinner in Old Montreal and took a stroll by the water the next day.

This is a little video Sean made of our weekend.

Original posts: August, 2012

I’m still at the cottage and thinking that living here would not be that horrible. I’ve gotten used to the silence and although it’s been cool and rainy the last few days, I’ve found comfort in having the fireplace on and wearing jogging hooded jumpers.

Hope you are having a great week. 🙂

It may be raining outside but there’s sunshine in here.

Cute kid! My love.

It’s been a bit gloomy up here the last 24 hours but I don’t really mind it. Hopefully we get some sunshine tomorrow. Jenie is coming to visit w/ her BF today and I can’t wait!

Made a time lapse of the rain storm yesterday. It was magical with the sun shining through most the time. Posted the 15 second on Instagram here.

IMG_8716.JPG

Been doing some travelling w/ Kim Kardashian. I just can’t quit her!

IMG_8649.PNG

Looked at Sean’s old family albums and I knew he was cute but SERIOUSLY he is JUST SO DAMN CUTE. Look at this Jr. Blondetourage member!

IMG_8663.JPG

What a little legend.

IMG_8652.JPG

Hoping we can float in those big donuts I got on Amazon in the sunshine tomorrow. The rain is relaxing but also makes me sleepy. Reckon I’ll take a trip to town before I get cabin fever. Hope your day is lovely!

Easy as 1, 2, 3! Non-Permanent Hair Colour

Easy as 1, 2, 3! Non-Permanent Hair Colour

Found this Colorsmash Hair Shadow in a gift bag from NXNE the other day so I’m putting it to good use.  You never know what you’ll find in those things!

I love hair chalk but  find it quite messy and it makes my hair dry. I may have seen this easy non-permanent hair colour on Pinterest or made it up one day, I can’t remember. Since I have blonde hair, it’s really easy to tint but I don’t like to stick with one shade too long. Here’s my recipe for adding some sass to your hair without drying or damaging it.

1. Shave off some chalk into a small bowl and mix w/ conditioner.

Use a knife or other tool you find around. Something that will make it into a power. It might stain so don’t use the good muddler or marble mortar and pestle from the kitchen.  If you don’t have hair chalk you can use artist chalk from any art store (don’t use pastel or sidewalk chalk). Mix with any conditioner in a plastic container/bowl.

2. Mix the paste and put on your hair.

To make the colour more intense/last a bit longer longer you can wrap your hair saran wrap to add heat. Don’t wrap your face. The actual colour of your hair will not be this dark. DNO’T FREAK OUT. Leave on for 10-30 min.

IMG_8608.JPG

3. Rinse out.

Most of the colour will go down the drain. This can be kinda messy. Use a dark towel. Once you blow dry you’ll have a dreamy light tint to your hair. VOILA!

IMG_8639.JPG

I’ve tried this with just abut every shade/brand of chalk (Kevin Murphy, professional brands, art store materials) and they all wash out in in 1-2 days. This one time I left saran wrap on with purple chalk-conditioner and the tint lasted 4 days before washing out completely. Seal w/ hairspray before you go out to make it stick.

Good luck! Tweet me a photo if you give it a go. 🙂

IMG_8551.JPG

Good morning and happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend. I just discovered that a Muskoka chair makes a great work desk. More of these in offices!  Sitting on the deck, looking out to the lake, catching up on emails, and writing this message to the world.

Had a very relaxing weekend and plan for a very relaxing week. We’ve got some work to do around the cottage and I’ve got plans to work on a few internetty things I’ve been putting off. It took me a day to get out of city mode but now, I’m ready. Listening to the ultimate cottage summer station, 104.1 The Dock. ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon just came on. 🙂 You may say I’m a dreamer, But I’m not the only one

I’ll try to space out all my #cottagelife posts with other things so it’s not overload (this is for you and me haha).

I’m about to go out on the kayak and stare into the horizon…

Here’s to a great week!

I’m taking an actual no-work vacation next week.

20140805-143337-52417214.jpg

Count down till the weekend is ON! I’m up at the cottage for an entire week starting Saturday. We have the cleaning lady taking care of the house while we’re away too. It’s the first time (in who knows how long) that I’m taking a no-work vacation. I mean, no obligatory blogging, tweeting, sponsors, or events. I’ve been around the world and back over the last five years but each time has been with a company or sponsored trip that required me to do something.

Being on the internet has taken me on an amazing journey but it can also be very tiring. It takes a lot of energy to be always on, and sharing your life with the world. Here’s to celebrating each day and soaking up silence and sunshine in Muskoka!

To Do List: Create a Gallery Wall

To Do List: Create a Gallery Wall

You know those things in your home that you mean to get done for days, weeks, months but them years go by and they still aren’t done? Sigh… I’ve got a spare room and gallery wall on my list along with all the sewing projects (that have been sitting for years). My friend told me that photo mounting helped her get through her wall gallery project quicker so I might consider that going forward. Came across this inspiration on the Globe this morning and am sharing for two purposes:
1) To tell you (ovbs)
2) To remind myself to actually do this

I love this look and our home needs some love. I think some black and white prints could add a really classy aesthetic to this gallery wall, so I’ll be sure to do some research and find ones that I like best. This video gives some tips and will get your brain thinking. Found a bunch of help on Pinterest here too.

You can check out 200+ of my fav art pieces on my Nuvango profile. Yes, I do work there but Nuvango but is also a great place to find affordable art for your new gallery wall!

#Travel: A Weekend in Boston w/ My Loves

#Travel: A Weekend in Boston w/ My Loves

On Friday afternoon Sean and I hopped on a little plane at Toronto Island and flew Porter across the pond to Boston. I absolutely LOVE flying Porter.

20140728-153332-56012480.jpg

We arrived at the (worlds shortest commercial) ferry at 2:10pm, landed on the island at 2:15pm, and at 2:40 we had checked in at the gate and through security. There was even time for a sandwich and a drink & snack. Pop, juice, water, coffee, tea, cookies, almonds are all free in the lounge. WIFI too!

The flight was a breeze and in just under an hour and a half we landed at Boston Logan.

It was my first time using the automated US Customs and it was a total breeze. We had a chuckle that I took a glamour shot. Like, check out that photo? All my selfie taking is really paying off. I can’t wait till I go for my next Passport photo.

20140728-153332-56012872.jpg

We stopped at The Bell in Hand as usual. I’ve been going there with Bob since my first Boston trip about five years ago. It’s the oldest pub in America and our friend Meri works there. Some Heineken babes were dishing out free beers which was a nice start to the weekend!

20140728-153333-56013134.jpg

20140728-153333-56013473.jpg

Our next stop was Nico’s Restaurant in Boston’s North End, Little Italy. I absolutely LOVE Italian food and our dinner here was FANTASTIC. I packed up the leftovers and snacked on them later.  A bunch of celebs have dined there and I was most interested to see The Rock had been there since that photo of him from the 90’s has been flying around this week.

20140728-153334-56014202.jpg

20140728-153333-56013779.jpg

I spent Saturday by the pool from morning till night. It was SUCH a beautiful day.

20140728-153335-56015131.jpg

20140728-153335-56015586.jpg

And with a pool like this, hwo could I go wrong? A bunch of friends joined us later in the day and we had BBQ and plenty of good times.

20140728-153334-56014773.jpg

On Sunday it rained like CRAZY so we took some time to relax.

20140728-153336-56016128.jpg

Then we went to Olive Garden. We don’t have Olive Garden in Eastern Canada so I really wanted to go there. I tried to explain how we have Swiss Chalet in Canada and that’s it’s not really Swiss but the chicken and sauce are amazing. If you’ve never had it, you gotta give it a go.

20140728-153336-56016462.jpg

Our flight was delayed for 2 hours due to weather but I’d spent about $60 on magazines and there was free WIFI. I could have lasted way longer! haha.

Sean is a total darling babe b/c he carried my luggage. LOVE YOU!

20140728-153338-56018542.jpg

Arrived back home about 10:30pm to a crazy rain storm. Was tired from the weekend but filled with great memories. Thanks Bob + Ellen for having us over again. Looking forward to our next visit. This weekend coming up is a long one then we’ve got a WEEK of vacation at the cottage. I can’t WAIT! Nothing more I enjoy than vacation, sunshine, and great friends!

Hope your week is off to a great start. Much love,

<3 CASIE

#LoveThisCity: Priceless Toronto w/ @MasterCardCA

#LoveThisCity: Priceless Toronto w/ @MasterCardCA

To celebrate summer and help people in TO experience more of what our great city has to offer, Priceless Toronto is offering MasterCard holders a whole pile of awesome offers and discounts.  I took them up on on offer to see a show at Mirvish AND visit the Science of Rock n’ Roll at the Ontario Science Centre.

Let me tell you, after seeing to Return to Grace, my love for Elvis has grown by about a million. I’ve always loved him and we used to listen to his music at my house as a kid. The show chronicled the life and times of Elvis Presley and the role of Elvis was played by Steve Michaels, a Toronto born Elvis impersonator who is one of the world’s best.

20140720-233940-85180410.jpg

The show finished with my fav Elvis of all, the 1973 concert Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii. It was like I was seeing the king himself, I swooned and sang along till the curtain closed. I also became obsessed with being this Elvis for Halloween for the next 24hours.

Seeing a theatre show at Mirvish carries an element of elegance for me. I remember Dad taking us to see ‘Crazy for You’ when I was little. We got dressed up and had snacks at intermission. I highly recommend checking out Toronto’s vast array of musicals that roll through the city. Make sure you check out offers from MasterCard here before ordering tickets.

There’s a ton of offers for you to eat, play, shop and stay at some of Toronto’s greatest attractions including The Ritz Carlton, Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto Zoo, CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Legoland, Ontario Science Centre, Harbourfront Centre and more.

My second adventure was to check out The Science of Rock n’ Roll at The Ontario Science Centre. Sean, Emily, and I played drums, guitar, and hit the mic in a recording studio. There are so many artifacts from over the years!

I’d like to thank MasterCard for inviting me to experience Priceless Toronto. I’ve got Canada’s Wonderland and Legoland on my wish list before summer’s end. To encourage YOU to check out Priceless Toronto, MasterCard Canada has given me a $100 prepaid Mactercard for YOU. See details below to enter. Contest closes in one week! #Throwback: I’d Like to Skydive Again

My first skydive!

Two years ago today I jumped out of a perfectly good plane for my first every skydive. It was SO MUCH FUN!

My first skydive!

I was in Boston visiting friends for the weekend and decided this was a great idea. I would 100000% do it again. I’m off to Boston this weekend to visit those same peeps and this is a great throwback reminder of an awesome weekend.

I had a 55 second free-fall before landing. Exhilarating! (Jump is at 2:12)

In 1996 I wrote a book called ‘Jeans’ and today I remember a line from it ‘You’ve never to old to play in leaves or snow’.  Remember that! You’re the director of your movie, make it an action, a comedy, or a romance! YOLO!

Won’t You Let Me Put Flowers in Your Beard?

There’s a nice display in this gallery on Queen West near Strachan. Take a peek if you’re cruising the hood.

I tried to convince  my beardy BF to let me do this to his beard this weekend. If you look up ‘flower beard’ on tumblr there are so many cute beardy boys w/ flowers in their beards. I guess we have the flower crown trend to thanks for these dreamboats!

Rise of the Beard Garden – Daily Mail, UK

Look at this face! Would it not look so dreamy with flowers? He’s going to see this and be like, “YOU ARE CRAZY. NO FLOWER BEARD!” hahaha. Love you!

This is my latest phone case creation w/ Nuvango (my work formerly known as GelaSkins). I got a friend to send me a sample of marble and have made the design available for anyone to order.  I created a gorgeous skin for my Macbook that looks like marble too. It’s pretty!

Where do all the deleted selfies go? I often take a few to get a good one then delete the handful of garbage ones where one eye is closed or my hair is blowing ratchet in the wind. This selfie is one I was gonna delete until I started thinking about a selfie graveyard and then I purchased deletedselfies.ca.

That’s all for now. Hope you are enjoying the day. I’m off to the spa for a massage!

#Muskoka: Life For Me Is A Riverboat Fantasy

Had a great weekend lounging at the cottage up in Muskoka. The weather was a bit cloudy on Saturday when we arrived but it was warm and I have no complaints! Boat is in the water so we got to do some cruisin’ around the lake.

I’ve had David Wilcox ‘Riverboat Fantasy’ stuck in my head since yesterday. It always comes on 104.1 The Dock when we’re driving in cottage country. If you’re looking for some good oldies and classic rock, you can listen online here.

My activities on Sunday included floating, reading, snacking, and sun tanning.

20140720-234432-85472161.jpg

Magazine reading has me thinking about layering. I know Autumn is a while away but fall fashion is just so dreamy.

On my way to the office I crossed the road to find one single half lemon, squished, and all alone in the middle of the road. What did it mean, how did it get there?  I don’t know, I’ll never know. I decided to take a photo and have a little laugh to myself. It wasn’t like I was going to make lemonade or anything.

Did some research on where this saying came from and many attribute it to Dale Carnegie from his book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. Carnegie’s version reads, “If You Have a Lemon, Make a Lemonade.”  BUT, 8 years before Carnegie’s book the phrase made it’s way into the mainstream via this poetic rendition of the phrase entitled The Optimist which appeared in a 1940 edition of The Rotarian:

“Life handed him a lemon,
As Life sometimes will do.
His friends looked on in pity,
Assuming he was through.
They came upon him later,
Reclining in the shade
In calm contentment, drinking
A glass of lemonade.”[10]

I thought this was all quite lovely. I left my little lemon squish and made a wish as I walked away with flowers in my hair.  Many would have missed this little lemon but I, I saw beauty in it’s simplicity and it made me smile.

In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, here’s a photo of Jenie and I at the house where we grew up in Cambridge. Did had a hot rod shop called Toys for Boys so really rad cars were always around. We used to play in the garage w/ Dad and pretend to drive the cars around. Ahh, the good ol’ days.

Remember, when life gives you lemons, you have lot of options of what to do with them. Do something that will put a smile on someone’s face, even if its just your own.

Vitamin A Dress, Ted Baker Scarf, Standing O Bracelet, Converse

Remember last week when I went to the Vitamin A show at Shangri-La? Well, I shot the show with my GoPro and posted a video on Instagram as an entry to their contest…and I WON. The prize is amazing! I’ll be visiting the health club and spa at the Shangri-La in Toronto once a month for the next 12 months AND I get a new Vitamin A bathing suit once a month for the next year. Other parts of the prize include a gift basket from L’Oréal and a pendant from Birks. Huzzah! The contest was to post your fav look from the show and when I found out the prize I put some elbow grease into making something great.

Here’s my winning entry!

In other news, I’ve been playing Kardashian and I made the A-List. I know it’s stupid but it’s also kinda fun. I have a few friends who are also playing and it’s a hoot chatting about it with them over Twitter. Sean can’t understand why I would want to play this game when my real life actually has some similarities to the game.

Next weekend we’re flying to Boston t visit friends and I hope to get to NY very soon.

Finished The Fall on Netflix and really enjoyed the series. I’m practically a professional binger! Jillian Anderson stars in this BBC thriller. I love watching Criminal Minds and cop dramas so this one was like a really long good episode. There’s only 5 eps in the series.

Been walking past these stars on my way to work and finally decided to take their picture. There’s art everywhere!

You are loved.

Sunday Gardening

Sunday Gardening

Picked up a few things from Target on Sunday. Was not feelin’ so hot and thought a trip there and buying things might make me feel better. It did! I discovered a partnership between Pinterest and Blogger/Top Pinner Joy Cho and Target so naturally, I had to support.

I also got a new camera.

Garden is now in bloom and I’m feelin’ pretty good about it. I absolutely love spending time in my garden. I only wish it was bigger! My best friend has got a huge backyard because she lives on a farm. The last time we spoke she told me that she had just purchased a steel building to use as an annex. One of my first questions was “How much does a metal building cost?”, but when I found out, I was impressed with how affordable a building made from steel can be. Anyway, I cannot wait to pay her a visit soon to discuss her plans for her steel annex!

Had some of our peeps over for a little visit in the evening and camera was a hit. Wanted one for ages so pretty stoked!

Feeling better today. Hope your week is off to a great start!
