This is My Life | Fiesta, Fiesta! We Partied w/ Pringles Tortillas

pringles, tortilla chips, #vivatortillas, chips, casiestewart, nacho, taco, fiesta

I love chips, there’s no denying it. Probably too much. Pringles (knowing my chip love) reached out to let me know they had a new chip in down, Pringles Tortillas. Next, they sent me an entire CASE of the new chips and since I really want to shouldn’t eat them all myself, we had a little fiesta at the office.

I set up the boardroom with a nice Mexican tablecloth, a feast, and called in the crew. The new Tortillas come in Original, Cheese, and Ranch. My fav are the cheese. Original are great with salsa or guac. Everyone is snacking on chips again today. THANKS PRINGLES!

Matt was really into my idea of having a fiesta.

After eating all this I was feeling like Macho Nacho.

Some of my blog friends She Does the City & Addicted Magazine ALSO had #VivaTortillas parties ??

This is a very exciting Wednesday dinner. #VivaTortillas @pringlesus @reforma35 @Andres_Tequila

This is My Life | Is it Friday Yet?

Oh man yesterday was one of those days…I was trying to get something done ALL afternoon and every. little. thing. was distracting me and before I knew it, the day was almost done. I’m ready for the weekend. You?

We’re heading up to the cottage and I seriously can’t WAIT. It’s amazing how I’ve become so addicted to silence and the wilderness. I love staying home, sitting, reading, relaxing. I guess that’s what happens when you get older?!

Yesterday I had to turn down an offer to go on a press trip to Tulum, Mexico because timing conflicts with another job. A bunch of friends are going and I was pretty bummed. I’ll just have to plan another trip! This winter I’m determined to get away 1-2 times. Sean and I both worked so much last year we didn’t go on vacation.

I’m not tooooo crazy about the stars but Mercury is in Retrograde  ? until the 9th and I’m ready for the switch back. Kiwi blogger Gala Darling who lives in NYC now has written a few posts about Surviving Mercury Retrograde. Read her 10 tips here ?

A few of my favs from her list of Ways to Make the Most of Mercury Retrograde:

  1. Clean out your closet. (Me today)
  2. Forgive and Forget ?
  3. Rejuvenate your living space! (See Pinterest!)
  4. Work on your CV or personal mission statement.

Events | Weekend Dining at Woodbine Racetrack

This weekend I’m taking my sister Carynn on a date to Woodbine Racetrack for her very first time. Instead of eating at the concession, we’re getting a lil’ fancier at Favourites Dining Room (located on the 2nd Floor, west end).  It IS Thanksgiving weekend after all! Thanks Woodbine!

If you’re just tuning in or don’t recall, I’ve partnered with Woodbine for the entire racing season. See my previous adventures with Dawn at Ricoh Mile, the Queen’s Plate w/ Carla, and the first race of the season, Woodbine Oaks w/ Sean.

The racing season goes until November so you’ve still got time to plan a little outing. If you are a smoker, you’ll be happy to know there’s smoking areas and you can actually smoke beside the track. Crazy I know.

Woodbine has an #OffToTheRaces contest running the entire season where you can win $1,000 Woodbine Racetrack gift card just by snapping a selfie at the racetrack and post to Twitter/Instagram w/ the #OffToTheRaces hashtag.

Speaking | We Are Wearables – Capturing the Future

Speaking | We Are Wearables – Capturing the Future

Last month I was a guest speaker at MaRS Discovery District for the We Are Wearables event themed around cameras and capturing the future. Last time I spoke at MaRS I was on a panel about panels, see here.  I love being in this building, it’s always filled with smart minds, creators, and people making a difference in the world.

This event, in partnership with Best Buy Canada, took a deep dive into how wearable cameras and new technologies are changing the way we capture our lives.

One of the things I was really intrigued by was the ion Snapcam for lifelogging. It’s a 1½” square that weighs just over an ounce, you snap it on via magnet/carabiner clip and tap once for still camera shots or twice to start HD video. Then, it connects wirelessly to your smartphone for instant uploading. I need one of these ASAP.

Where’s Waldo?

Before ending the night, a panel made up of Giovanni Tomaselli – Founder and CEO of iON Worldwide, Zayn Jaffer – Director of Merchandising, Emerging Business at Best Buy Canada,  Oskar Kalmaru – Co-founder & CMO of Narrative, Steve Mann – the Father of Wearable Computing and Chief Scientist at Meta, Tom Fowler – Chief Marketing Officer at Recon Instruments and one of Canada’s top bloggers and pioneer in social media, Casie Stewart sat down with We Are Wearables founder, Tom Emrich to talk about lifelogging and the impact of wearable cameras on society.

Read more about the night at wearewearables.com

The next We Are Wearables look sat Sports & Entertainment and there’s another event on October 13th that covers Changing the Game of Sport. See more about upcoming events and Wearable happenings at wearewearables.com/events.

Will keep you posted for my next public speaking gig, love to see you there!

Fashion | Converse Holiday Preview 2015

Fashion | Converse Holiday Preview 2015

Last week I went to the media preview for Converse 2015 Holiday. I’ve been wearing these kicks my entire life. Mum reminded me the other day that I had them as a wee little kiddo. I’ve gone through heaps of pairs over the years and love how they change slightly, yet remain the same.

This year Converse released the Converse Chuck Taylor Chuck II. The new Chuck II is nearly identical to its predecessor, with advances in construction and technology, including Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning. They’re more comfortable! This neon colour is limited edition FYI.

“[The Chuck II] continues to reflect the spirit of the Chuck Taylor and what it’s meant all these years. It still has all of the most recognizable exterior attributes of the Chuck — that’s important to the consumer. We’re just addressing the new needs of the consumer while staying true to this iconic sneaker,” said David Allen, GM and VP of Converse North America.

There’s two new styles from the Holiday 2015 Collection I’m majorly crushing on. First, these rubber Chuck Taylor high tops. I can see myself wearing these all winter, summer, spring, and fall. They’re waterproof and have a sleek zipper down the back. Get on my feet you guys!  ????

549589 Second is not released in Canada yet but they will be soon.  I’m not supposed to say anything about the collab just yet but I found this tweet on Twitter and won’t go into detail and just leave it here… You can see why I love them!

Events | WeDay 2015 w/ Team Telus Advocates

weday 2015, toronto, telus, casiestewart, nick jonas, tavi gevinson, acc,

On Thursday last week Emily and I got up realllllly early and drove down to the ACC to see the red carpet for WeDay with the Team Telus Advocates.

weday 2015, toronto, telus, casiestewart, nick jonas, tavi gevinson, acc,

I’m pretty sure it was her first time attending a red carpet. She did however, do her first live hit on TV and was seen on Breakfast Television by people across Canada. I’m teaching her the ways of the media early! Don’t mind the pixelated photo and my windy hair.

weday 2015, toronto, telus, casiestewart, nick jonas, tavi gevinson, acc,
The ACC was filled with about 40K people, mostly students, there to kick off 365 days of making the world a better place. It was a bit overwhelming but totally inspiring.

weday 2015, toronto, telus, casiestewart, nick jonas, tavi gevinson, acc,

Loved seeing all the performers and speakers including Hozier, Nick Jonas, and Shawn Mendes, Rookie Mag editor-in-chief Tavi Gevinson (LOVE HER) and social change activist Tonika Morgan.

It was great spending the day with this group of ladies from the Team Telus Advocates.

This is Em watching Nick Jonas perform ‘Levels’. I snuck her down to floor level to see him up close, it was for her I swear. ?

After lunch, Telus took us back stage to the media area where we had a meet & greet with Francesco Yates. He was so nice. Very chill. Took heaps of photos with everyone. I chatted him about meeting Justin Bieber in NYC a couple years ago.

Leading up to WeDay 2015 Telus asked people to answer the #CallForChange and be part of his latest music video. It premiered at WeDay for all 40,000 people to see. Take a peek below and see who you recognize, there might be a few people!

Thanks Telus for a fun day I’ll never forget. It was amazing to see so many young people making a difference in the world. Fashion | Fitzroy Boutique X Adidas Popup

Fashion | Fitzroy Boutique X Adidas Popup

Last week the girls from Fitzroy Boutique opened their latest pop-up at 12 Ossington. They’re partnered with adidas Originals and during Nuit Blanche last weekend, you could have your new kicks customized by two awesome Toronto artists, Andre Kan or Madison Van Rijn.

My shoes were customized by Madison (above) and I picked a little love note envelope similar to a tattoo on  my right arm. I’ve had a few pairs of shoes customized over the years with my name so now, I’m adding adidas to my collection.

I also love the dress Julie (one of the Fitzroy babes) was wearing and I picked one up for myself. I was feeling pretty tired after going to WeDay so a little retail therapy was JUST what I needed.

Thanks again for having me ladies! ??

Art | The Inside Out Project – On Display Until October 12!

The INSIDE OUT Project is ‘a global art project transforming messages of personal identity into works of art’ created by world renowned street artist JR. Photobooths for this project have travelled all around the world photographing regular people and turning their faces into massive art installations (Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, etc) since 2011.

Last week I waited in line for about an hour with Paddy Jane and Jennifer Hollett (former Much VJ, current NDP candidate) at Nathan Phillips Square on the last Toronto dat of photos from the INSIDE OUT project. I really wanted to have my face be part of it! IMG_2292.JPG This past weekend during Nuit Blanche, I was spotted! A couple people sent messages with photos of my face in the square. So cool. Here’s a shot of it being wheat pasted to the concrete.

The documentary on the INSIDE OUT project is on iTunes and I’m planning to watch it soon. If you’re keen to look for some familiar faces downtown, the portraits will be in Nathan Phillips Square and around the city until October 12th.

Travel | Sky High in Cottage Country – My KD Golden Noodle Adventure

Travel | Sky High in Cottage Country – My KD Golden Noodle Adventure

Last weekend I went on an epic cottage adventure. If you were following Twitter or Snapchat you’d have seen a bunch of tweets from myself and Lauren as 2 planes landed on our lake and took us flying around Muskoka for the afternoon. My guests included Lauren, Steve, Sean, and one other special guest…a golden KD noodle. Ok so you’re thinking what? A Noodle? Yes, a NOODLE!

03-358C2338

KD is celebrating the love it’s fans have for it in a way that’s truly worthy,  WITH GOLD. Until October 5, Canadians have the chance to win a 1-LB 24K Gold Noodle, worth approximately $30,000 CAN. To enter pop by your local grocer and pick up a limited edition box of KD Gold. Next, enter your unique PIN, found inside specially marked 4 and 12 pack bundles of KD Macaroni & Cheese, at kdgold.ca.  No the noodle is not in the KD box! It’s pretty heavy!  You can also win hundreds of instant prizes, including gold-plated KD cuff links, sunglasses, flip flips, or a gold plated coin.

If you’re wondering how I like my KD, I like to switch it up, sometimes ketchup, maybe hot dogs, other times a healthy dash of black pepper. As a side note, I didn’t actually try Kraft Dinner until I went to college. My parents are from New Zealand and they don’t have KD there. Thankfully my college crew introduced me! It’s one of those things everyone has in their pantry and sometimes the perfect fix  to feed your hunger.

My KD Golden Noodle Adventure in Muskoka

Here’s a few snaps from our float plane experience. We flew from Bala to Port Carling, went for lunch, and flew back. It was beautiful to experience an aerial view of Muskoka this time of year, the leaves are all starting to change. Special thanks to our pilots at Lake Country Airways for a great trip!

Beauty | Hair Damage Science w/ L’Oreal Pro-Fiber Professional

This morning I stopped at Wildflower inside the Thompson Hotel soon as we get back from Muskoka. I was there as one of the first in Canada to experience L’Oreal Professionnel’s new technological breakthrough Pro-Fiber Professional Hair Damage Science.

I had my hair done last week and it was the first time in years I didn’t bleach my roots. Over the last 10 years I’ve reallllllly put my hair through stress. Although I love being blonde, it’s really hard on your hair.  Luckily, L’Oreal Pro-Fiber helps reverse hair damage.

1Milk2Sugars, L’Oreal Professional Canada, pro fiber, casiestewart, thompson hotel, taz salon, yorkville, toronto

L’Oreal Canada took me to Taz Hair in Yorkville, a L’Oreal Professionnel salon, where I got to experience the Pro-Fiber treatment first-hand. My stylist took me through a series of questions to determine my damage level. Since I don’t brush my hair heaps (it’s too short!) and I haven’t fully bleached it in a while, I was level 2. I’m sure it was level 3, the most damage not too long ago.

Screen Shot 2015-09-28 at 5.05.57 PM

There are three different levels of “hair damage” and three different lines of Pro Fiber products:

  1. to resurface hair with damaged cuticle [REVIVE],
  2. to repair hair with a damaged cuticle and cortex [RESTORE]
  3. to restructure hair with a very damaged cortex [RECOVER].

For my hair the perfect line was the Restore. My hair felt healthier right after the treatment. I’m not used to it feeling so soft!

Cool thing about this product is it’s the first ever that starts in the salon and continues at home (it never washes out). There’s a whole suite of products to use at home to continue the nourishment.

Damaged hair, beware! Introducing #ProFiber featuring #EvaGreen. Unleash the star in you.

Events | LCBO’s Harvest Menu w/ Love for Local w/ Chef Lynn Crawford

Events | LCBO’s Harvest Menu w/ Love for Local w/ Chef Lynn Crawford

Thursday was a busy one! I went to 4 media events and was home just after 8pm. It’s fun but exhausting! Today is chill time, hair, nails, lunch, art show w/ bae.

Had a great kickoff to fall yesterday w/ LCBO & Wine Country Ontario over lunch hosted by Chef Lynn Crawford (Food Network Canada & The Cooking Channel). The event featured a Thanksgiving menu prepared by Chef Lynn, along with several other talented winemakers, chefs, and food artisans from Ontario.

I don’t go to heaps of ‘foodie’ events, although I enjoy them! It’s always a bit funny for me because the foodies are REALLY serious about the food, flavours, textures, pairings. I love listening. My take is usually, much more relaxed, a lifestyle writer approach. Does it taste good? Can I cook this at home? Will my friends like it? Can I impress the BF/parents?

Here’s some Tweet highlights from the #LCBOTasteLocal event:

We learned how to make a thanksgiving feats like a pro using preservatives, and items from local markets, and our own backyards. The menu is now available at LCBO stores across Ontario and looks like the top photo in this post. The little book features ideas for hosting, cocktail & cocktails, food/wine pairings, and recipes.

I’m not 100% on our plans for thanksgiving yet this year but it’s one of my fav meals of the entire year. Would love to Chef Lynn’s cauliflower & celery root mash w/ onion thyme marmalade. Like, how good does that sound?!

Here’s to a great weekend. Heading up to the cottage w/ Lauren & our BFs tomorrow and flying Muskoka in private planes on Sunday. **Pinch me!** This is my life, gahhhhh!

Fashion | Rethinking Pink w/ Rethink Breast Cancer’s 2015 Collection

This morning I had the opportunity to preview the 2015 Rethink Pink Collection with Rethink Breast Cancer. Next week kicks off Breast Cancer Month, and Rethink is the young women’s breast cancer movement.

This year’s Rethink Pink partnerships range from beauty, to artisanal goods, practical tools (see pink tool kit, excited about this tbh!), apparel, and more, making it easy to support the cause. The girls from Rethink chatted me about how breast cancer is rare in the under 50 group but their mission is to raise awareness and help women recently diagnosed, and going through breast cancer via various programs.

To see all products in the 2015 Rethink Pink collection visit rethinkbreastcancer.com. Here’s a few of my favs.

On a personal note…

In February of this year I was having serious sharp pains in one of my breasts. Note to self, Google is NOT a doctor. After a few trips to the CIBC Breast Centre at St. Michaels hospital we found that it was from my birth control and was manageable. I’m generally a pretty healthy person, so having all these appointments really freaked me out, I was scared.

I’m a-ok now but the experience made me ‘rethink’ (see what I did there) my health and the importance of taking care of your body, being aware of changes etc.

If you would like to get involved visit rethinkbreastcancer.com. If you’re looking for  a reallllllly FUN way to get involved, get a ticket to the Booby Ball next week. It’s SPACE THEMED!

I’ve donated heaps of clothes in my lifetime and second hand clothes growing up kept me looking stylish. It’s probably where my love for clothes hoarding started.

Heading to breakfast w/ ReThink Breast Cancer then a  few other media things today!

This is My Life | Stop. Drop. Office.

It’s rare during the day that I leave the house without my computer (or at all during the cold months). This morning on my ride I stopped for a call that required some immediate internet support in the form of computer.  So, here I am sitting on Roncy, on a bench, computer on my lap, with bike and yoga mat.

Feeling quite grateful my life is weird and wonderful. Next stop home because I forgot my wallet then to a new office space, somewhere with coffee!

Contest | Show Off That Brilliant Smile! Brush. Whiten. Go.™

Show Off That Brilliant Smile! Brush. Whiten. Go., Colgate Canada
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Colgate* Optic White™. All thoughts and ideas are my own. Thanks for supporting me and the brands I work with.
[symple_divider style=”solid” margin_top=”5″ margin_bottom=”5″]

If you know me, you know I smile a lot, heaps in fact. It’s a huge part of my life and I’m generally a pretty happy person. I’ve always been the one flashing her teeth around, spreading sunshine with a smile. ??? Having nice teeth started early with mum’s influence. In high school, I had braces and unlike other kids, loved going to the orthodontist for updates. Brilliant smile!

Skip ahead a few years after coffee, wine, age etc., keeping that smile bright is important.

Colgate contacted me a couple weeks ago about trying their new Colgate* Optic White™ Toothbrush + Whitening Pen and I was totally down to give it a go. (Tbh, I’d seen it on tv and wanted to try it already). Got one for Sean too.

I’ve been using the new Colgate* Optic White™ Toothbrush + Whitening Pen for about a week and it’s quick and easy. One thing to note is the whitening gel has a nice minty taste and won’t hurt your gums. Maybe you’ve considered getting your teeth whitened, but have yet to do so. If this is the case, you may find that visiting a Dentist in Healdsburg for example, could be the push you need to get you the smile you have always wanted. Anyway, I have sensitive teeth so I wanted to test this out before giving you my thoughts. This is a convenient and affordable way to get whiter teeth. Saying this though, if you have considered getting your teeth whitened professionally as you know that you won’t be able to be consistent while using this whitening pen, doing some research to find Dentist New York (if you live in New York) or somewhere closer to your location could finally get you on the right track to getting the smile you have always wanted.

If you’re a smoker and your teeth are yellowing, switching out the cigarettes for something like this Vape Starter Kit then whitening your teeth you’ll see much greater results.

Perfect for everyday use and easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Brush. Use your regular toothpaste. The toothbrush has specially designed polishing bristles and stain removers to help remove surface stains.
  2. Whiten. After brushing, apply whitening gel with whitening pen. It takes a few seconds to apply and adhere to teeth. No wait, no rinse.
  3. Go.™ Store pen inside brush.

This is My Life | There’s Harmony in Autumn, and A Luster in it’s Sky

That’s a wrap on summer! Had a nice relaxing weekend at the cottage. Still a few weeks before we close the place up. The leaves have just started changing. It’s beautiful.

Yesterday Sean and I heard this crazy loud noise when we were out for  drive. It was Ontario Watercross Racing – snowmobile racing on water.  I didn’t know this was a thing!

They have to keep going at pretty fast speed to stay on top of the water. Saw  few go down and get pulled up from the bottom of the lake. The course includes going around a couple buoys then sliding back to the sand. It’s super fast. We watched a few runs and victory laps on the grass before heading home. They’re REALLLLLLY loud. (Sorry this is showing up so small!)

Picked up a few of these little guys . I love this time of year! I know I say that about every season but they each have their charm, they really do. Been thinking a fair bit about halloween and what costumes I want to go with this year.

Had a nice sunset cruise in the boat last night. Perfect way to close out summer at the cottage.

Have a pretty crazy adventure planned for next weekend at the cottage. A brand is sending two private planes to take some friends and I  and flying around Muskoka and to Port Carling. I’m excited. Will share more about that later.

There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!

Contest | Spread The Love: Reese Spreads French Toast Sandwich

Happy Friday! I don’t often blog about food but I made something reallllllly amazing for family breakfast at the cottage last weekend. Sharing with you today in case you’ve got someone you’d like to impress. My creation, Reese Peanut Butter Spread French Toast Sandwich! I used a pancake batter to lather a Reese sandwich made with white bread and then French toast it.

Reese contacted me and asked if I’d tried their latest new product.  As it turns out, I had JUST created this. It’s quick and easy (not so healthy) breakfast! YOLO!

Reese Spreads French Toast Sandwich

You’ll need:

  • Reese Spreads
  • Bread
  • Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 tbl spoon Sugar
  • q1 tbl spoon Cinnamon
  • 1 tbl spoon Baking powder
  • Maple Syrup – as much as you want!
  • Strawberries & whipped cream to top it off

  1. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Put some butter on there.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder. Whisk it.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the milk, egg. Whisk again.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined but still slightly lumpy.
  5. Put Reese spread on bread into a sandwich. Make 4-6.
  6. Dip each sandwich in batter and put on the grill.
  7. Flip after 3 min or until fully cooked. Should be a bit brown. Add more butter to pan if necessary.
  8. Set aside or on a warm plate until they’re all ready.
  9. Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, and fresh fruit, as desired.
  10. Add bacon on the side!

To make all your Reese peanut butter and chocolate dreams come true, they’ve included a prize pack worth $100 for you. Simply enter below and I’ll pick a random winner next week. For more recipe ideas visit the Hershey website or find Reese on Facebook. If you end up making this PLEASE tweet me a photo. Or invite me over…. ?!

Contest | TIFF ’15 Win A Celebrity Gift Bag from the #NKPRIT15 Lounge

Last week I visited the NKPR IT Lounge at the TIFF bell Lightbox. This lounge, hosted by NKPR, celebrates it’s 10th year and brings together an array of great products and sponsors, to offer gifts to celebrities in town for the festival.

I was very Ellen Degeneres/Justin Bieber when I visited. haha.

Celebrating 10 and 40 years respectively, NKPR’s highly sought-after IT Lounge and the Toronto International Film Festival will officially partner for the first time – a coming together of the decades – to create an exclusive anniversary Festival experience at TIFF. … In 2006, NKPR’s IT Lounge was the first gifting suite in North America to bring cause to the forefront. This tradition of giving back continues, and in 2015 a donation will be made to Artists for Peace and Justice for every celebrity who sits for a portrait.

Events | The Lowdown on the The Flat White At Second Cup

Events | The Lowdown on the The Flat White At Second Cup

Last week I was invited to hang out at Second Cup on King and learn about how to make the perfect Flat White. The flat white is a fav in Australia and New Zealand, something I’m very familiar with!  When I lived in Australia, each morning I’d ride my bike over to the Le Paris Go cafe in Bondi Beach and get a flat white to start my day. I’m so glad it’s made it’s way to Canada!

second cup flat white now available in canada

Nicole from She Does the City, me, Wendy from Hip Urban Girl, Nicole from Dainty Girl

The girls and I sat down at the coffee bar with Second Cup’s in-house coffee expert and curator Pat Russell, Senior Product Developer. Pat has been with Second Cup since 1996, so he REALLY knows his stuff.

The flat white is known for its smooth texture which highlights the true taste of the espresso, without any bitterness or excess of milk. It features a double shot of Second Cup’s rich Espresso Forte, velvety steamed milk, and a thin layer of micro-foam. I prefer a flat white over a latte because it has less milk.  (I had a lactose allergy growing up so I try to do have too much milk these days.) If you’re not a milk drinker, you can request your flat white be made with almond or soy milk for a bit of added sweetness and nutty flavour.  Another thing to note is the Flat White is only available in one size – an 8oz/250 ml cup – this is to preserve the proper ratio of espresso to milk.

I invite you to switch up your coffee routine and try a Second Cup Flat White yourself. In other news, from September 1-30, 2015, Second Cup Rewards members earn 5x points on all Flat Whites. If you buy 3 Flat Whites, you earn enough points to get one free! Sign up here.

Find Second Cup TwitterFacebook and Instagram or check out their website for exclusive offers and product information. Share your thoughts on the new Flat White w/ hashtag #SCFlatWhite, love to know your thoughts!

TIFF | Premiere of ‘The Meddler’ & Festival Music House

TIFF | Premiere of ‘The Meddler’ & Festival Music House

Yesterday I went to the premiere of The Meddler starring Susan Sarandon, JK Simmons, and Rose Bryne. It was so good, laughed, cried. Great movie to take your mum to when it comes out in theatres in a few weeks.

Later I the day I saw Brave Shores, Allie X, and Dear Rouge at Festival Music House. Allie X was amazing. I’m in love now.

Finished the night off at a new spot called CANDYLAND for the world premiere party of GUILTY. I was really excited to check it out because 1) it’s not open to the public yet 2) they have circus style performers (apparently) and cirque-type acts. It was ok. Kinda disappointed tbh. Will give them another chance though!

In other news, I’m pooped. After tonight’s event I’m ready to hibernate for winter. ?

This is My Life | Why Does Monday Suck Though?

This is My Life | Why Does Monday Suck Though?

‘Mondays are fine, you hate your job’

Years ago I worked as a tech recruiter in the financial district. We had a team meeting each morning at 8am. Thus meaning I would leave the house each day at 7:30am, dressed in a business type suit, with my briefcase style bag, Lenovo Thinkpad computer (it was 2008), and head down to Bay Street.  Around the 1-year mark on a Monday just before lunch, my boss pulled me into his office and said ‘Case, what’s wrong, you don’t seem your happy self?’

It was true. I wasn’t feeling it.  I didn’t want to do this job anymore.  I thought about quitting but I didn’t have much money and being lay off and getting two weeks would be much better. So, I toughed it out and kept going in for those early mornings. At this point, since my boss brought it up, I came out and said ‘I don’t wanna work here anymore’. He told me he knew and it was ok. we talked it out and I cleaned out my desk after lunch. They gave me 2 weeks pay and I never looked back.

If you have going into work on Monday morning, BE THE CHANGE. Do something about it. There are heaps of new jobs in new industries being created each and every single day. or, if you’re not ready to leave your job, spend the weekend working on your hobby so you’ve got something exciting to think about. Work to make THAT your job.

I work pretty much every single day, often less on weekends but sometimes more! Doing something I love means it doesn’t always feel like work. I mean sometimes I don’t feel like it but most the time I do. We only live once so don’t spent weeks, months, years doing things you don’t wanna do. There’s no sense starting each week with a ‘wahhh wahh’ attitude.

Change your attitude, change your life

Here’s to a great week and a few more warm days to finish off the summer. Put a smile on your face today and flash it around!

TIFF | Nikki Beach Instabrunch @ The Spoke Club

On Saturday Lauren, Roxy, and I joined bloggers, influencers, and cool peeps alike for Instabrunch at Nikki Beach inside the Spoke Club. It was fun. We really should brunch more. We laughed our heads off over mimosas before the fashion show.

I was so distracted by the girls I didn’t snap a photo of the actual brunch. Here’s one from another bruncher. When we were done I went home to sleep off Friday night’s Producer’s Ball that I attended with Sean & Brock at The Royal Ontario Museum the night before.

Events | Woodbine Ricoh Mile Rock N’ Racing Festival

Sunday marks a big weekend at Woodbine Racetrack with the $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile. Along with the races, there’s also a whole slew of live music, food trucks, and fun.

If you’re just tuning in, I’ve partnered with Woodbine for the entire race season and went to a few races earlier this year including The Queen’s Plate and Woodbine Oaks. Over the past couple months I’ve learned how to bet, had some good times, and actually won a few $$. I’m yet to visit the horses up close though. To be honest, I’m kinda scared. I’ve never ridden a horse, only elephants!

This is Obviously, I’m betting on him this weekend based on my research reading the Woodbine Entertainment site.

#OfftotheRaces Contest Details

  1. Snap a selfie at the racetrack
  2. Post to Twitter using the hashtag #OffToTheRaces
  3. Cross your fingers!

By posting your selfie at the track with the #OfftotheRaces hashtag you’ve got a chance to win a $1000 Woodbine Racetrack gift card at the end of the horse racing season. Please remember, your selfie MUST be taken in front of the racetrack!

I’ll be sharing my experience from the track on Twitter, IG, and Snapchat, hashtag #WoMile. If you’re looking for info about the Ricoh Woodbine event see here and if you’re looking for general racing info, see here. If you can’t make this event, hopefully you can join me in another racing event before the season is over in November.

LMK if you’ll be there! ??????
