Montreal | Hi-Speed Blogging in the Sunshine at 90MPH

This week was a busy one and I’m looking forward to a nice sleep at the Fairmont Montreal tonight. We’re on the train heading to Montreal for Nuit Blanche and thanks to Montreal Tourism. Remember that contest I entered and a bunch of you guys helped me fill the train? I didn’t win the contest but they invited me to come along for the ride and experience Nuit Blanche Montreal. Bae working away, looking all cute. Earlier this week I was working form the new 1188 Films office and dressed the place up with some spring flowers.  There’s 8 days until daylight savings, if you;re counting down like me. This is the before face of going through the worst pain I have felt in my entire life. I’ve been having high blood pressure along with those chest pains I mentioned so I’m unable to take my old contraceptive and got a IUD. I wasn’t expecting it to be so painful and felt nauseous after, it was brutal. Good thing it’s a five year plan. I’m thankful my doc was so lovely and took great care. Lucky for me, House of Cards is BACk so we binged a couple episodes last night while I was in recovery. Much better today and back to my regular bouncy self. Claire Underwood, I love you. Maybe I should keep short hair? This internal ‘cut it or grow it’ battle never ends. We’re on the train for 4 hours, currently going aboout 90MPH. I’m glad to have NextIssue and will be reading magazines once I hit publish. I’ve been reading magazines I never used to buy since I’ve got them all at my fingertips now (Nylon, More, Condé Nast Traveller, Dwell). This cover of Vanity Fair is awkward, no? Loving the images in Condé Nast Traveller. Makes me want to just…

Lookbook: #SpreadLeLove w/ Le Chateau

I’m a little bit late the game with this but it’s still February and there’s always time for LOOOVE! Earlier this month Lauren and I were featured in the latest lookbook for Le Chateau. This was especially fun for me since I used to work there back in high school, Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener FTW! Le Chateau gathered some of their favourite Toronto media, had us pick outfits, and scheduled a shoot day to capture the love. Ours is BFF love obviously.  See the whole gang in this post by She Does The City or on the Le Chateau blog. We had heaps of fun shooting! Lau and I have been having our photos taken together for years so we’re ready to roll as soon as the camera is on. We picked the same necklace and gloves without even knowing. We planned the same hats in different colours. Dressing the same as your bff is really fun. I loved the cuteness in Daniel and Julio’s photos. All the love! Find them on Twitter at @DoTheDaniel and @Fashionights. Sending love to you across the internet! <3 CASIE

No matter what you’re doing, do it with style.

I can’t express enough how writing a blog is like therapy for the soul. Also cheaper than a therapist! You help yourself by writing it, and being able to look back helps you move forward. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed but overall excited about things I’m working on. February is aways the most difficuly month, it’s so cold and SAD.  It’s not always rainbows and butterflies over here! I’m a real human. 🙂 This is my life… Was at St. Michaels hospital yesterday, I thought the hallway looked nice. Have had some chest pains the last while so trying to figure out what’s going on is one of my latest missions. Had an X-Ray the other day and was referred to a special clinic to book an ultrasound. Hospital gown chic. Remember, no matter what you’re doing, do it with style.

Lookbook + Video: #JayuBlogged Fresh Collection SS15

A couple weeks ago I was on set at a Toronto studio w/ Canadian jewellery designer Sally Han of Shop for Jayu. Last summer Sally and I exchanged emails about their first look book and I wasn’t available to take part at the time but this round I was. We had heaps of fun on the full day shoot and I’m happy to share the final product! For my looks I went with, ‘Glamour Calling’, inspired by big hair and bright colours a là 1992, and ‘Vintage Traveller’ inspired by Twiggy & Pan Am Air in the ’60’s, with a bit of Edie Swgwick. The other bloggers featured are Jodi Blk in monochrome and Victoria Simpson from Haute Canada in with the pink balloons (and the legs!). Here’s a behind the scenes video by David Sztrimbley and a peek at the lookbook. See the whole thing here and check out the latest collection at shopforjayu.com. End Distracted Driving with #JustOneTap

I’m not gonna to lie, I’ve texted while driving. Even worse, been stuck in traffic and taken photos. I’m sorry, it’s not ok and we are all guilty of it. I’ve made a point to put my phone out of reach or on the passenger seat. I know that if I get caught that I could get in trouble and have to attend an online traffic school or worse, get into an accident. That is something I’m sure no one wants. I know I don’t. Distracted driving is one of the main causes of accidents and if you’ve been involved in once recently you should contact an Accident claims specialist. There are plenty of lawyers out there that you can use, so you won’t struggle to find the right one for you. If you are unsure about who to use, then it might be a good idea to check out a law firm like lamber goodnow to give you a better idea of what sort of law firm you should use. Distracted driving is a HUGE PROBLEM and a Canadian-owned, Calgary-based startup has an app for that. AppColony has developed OneTap, a brand-new, free app for Android phones ( IOS version coming soon!) designed to help end distracted driving in Canada. They surveyed Canadians and found some statistics we can’t ignore. OneTap automatically senses when a user is driving and blocks out unnecessary distractions, while allowing you to stay connected. Even though you can just contact someone like this springfield il car accident attorney if you do get into a crash, it’s obviously better to avoid it altogether, not just to help decrease your own stress levels but also in case someone gets hurt. This tech is a brilliant potential solution to this ongoing issue. For more information on the…

Couch, Kleenex, Sneezing, Blarghhh, I’m So Sick

I have the worst cold, I’m so sick. I feel like hell. Sneezing every couple minutes and the amount of kleenex I’ve gone through today alone is disgusting. I’ll be staying inside all weekend and recharging my batteries. Valentine roses are still looking pretty. Went to the Artist Project last night and it’s really cool. It’s on all weekend, definitely worth checking out. Can’t write anything today. Can’t think. Ordered some spicy takeout and am drinking heaps of water. Pretty glad to have this week’s episodes of Y&R on PVR. There’s nothing I’d rather watch right now! <3 CASIE

#TBT Thailand: Panoramic Views of Somewhere Warmer Than Here

Came across these photos on my phone and forgot I even took them. I love how panoramic photos capture a time and place. Fond memories. These were all taken on my trip to Thailand just over a year ago with Contiki Canada. They took 17 of Canada’s top content creators on the trip of a lifetime. We had so much fun. these photos were taken in Bangkok, Chaing Mai, Koh Tao, and Koh Samui. Go back in time and relive my trip in posts tagged Thailand. I would absolutely love to be somewhere warm right now but have too much going on to drop it all and get away. So, instead I’ve cranked the heat and dehumidifier and am sharing  travel photos. Enjoy! With love, CASIE

There’s No Need For Cable, LONG LIVE INTERNET TV!

OK, so yesterday we got cable and I’m pretty excited that I can PVR Young and The Restless. (Yes I still watch it. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know I have conversations about the show with a particular group every now and then! I’m homesick, watching yesterday’s show right now actually.) Getting cable seemed SO exciting but it turned out to be disappointing. The 200 channels we were given were 200 of the crappiest most basic channels! Yes, HD is nice but we already had a few good channels with a $30 HD antenna. We could watch Jeopardy, news, and the other shows I like including NCIS, CSI, Y&R. However, the most important thing here is, ALL THE SHOWS I LOVE ARE ON THE INTERNET. Internet TV is where it’s at! The only reason we took the package deal was that it made Internet cheaper and faster. Clearly the most important thing to us. Can’t wait to binge House of Cards on the 27th. Last night my bf said “Let’s watch something on Netflix, and pretend we never had cable. It was better that way.” If only we had a hdmi converter back then, as there would have been a lot more shows we could have watched. Now that we consume a lot of TV shows and films online, using something like an HDMI converter does come in handy. The cable guy also switched the HDMI cable for the Apple TV so we had to reconnect it. THANKS! Oh, and they also gave us a landline (look it up) with a new (gasp) 647 number. We don’t even own phones to plugin to it. Who needs a landline? It was 10+ years when I had one and I lived with my Mum back them. So, I profess and…

Hair Today, Pixel Tomorrow!

Hi! Mobile blogging on the go again! This afternoon I’m at The Loft Toronto and Sylvie is trying pixelated hair colour on me. I’ve not seen this in Canada yet and it’s huge in Spain. The company there that does it is being very secretive about the process so this is a test. I’ve got confidence tho! I’ve got some blog work to do tonight. I really should have done it yesterday but I was so laze and didn’t do a damn thing! Well, if you could making salad, a sandwich, watching movies/tv, and sleeping, I did a few things. Sometimes you just need to take a break, y’know?! Luckily, we’ve got a short week and it’s only a few days till the weekend again. Sending you sunshine wherever you might be! XO CASIE

We are most alive when we’re in love.

Sean is making me dinner and the house smells lovely. He’s about to put the steak, lobster, and scallops on the grill and I could not be happier. He even got my fav wine, beer, AND vodka today. I don’t post about our love that often but I feel extremely grateful everyday, and especially today, to have someone who loves me for who I am and not only accepts, but loves and encourages my weirdness and creativity. I could not be happier. I scrolled through all my photos from the last year (HUNDREDS OF SELFIES BTW) and found a few moments worth taking a moment to remember. I love you with my whole heart babe. Thank you. To many more years together, in love. <3 CASIE * title is a quote by John Updike
