Things are a little different in the East end. They move at a different pace then the West. The people look different. More dogs, wives, kids, lawns, antique shops, less hipsters.
I’ve never seen a house like this before. It’s in the East end at Queen and Bertmount Ave on Bertmount, about a block North of Queen. Necessary pull over for photos. I’ve been trying to think up stories all day about the people that live here. The lady that put all these guys up. How long? What does she look like?
Her name is Shirley. She won best small garden from the city one year. Best garden. Yes, best GARDEN! Look at this baby and say ‘best small garden’ out loud.
There are so many random and tattered toys all over. It’s crazy. We collected Mc Donald’s Happy Meal toys. Mum has hundreds of them in the basement. Boxed. Original packaging. Barbies, Beanie Babies, Playmobile, Lego, Batman, Disney stuff and more.
So creepy. Tahnee keeps freaking out every time she looks at my screen. She said at Christmas Shirley decks the place out in lights. I can’t even imagine. Ok, I can but I don’t want to.
Today was as the kind of hot I love when it’s sticky and your skin stays soft all day. I took a watermelon to a bbq in the afternoon. Love summer melons. Thanks for having me guys!
Browsed a book at their place with some valuable lessons in it. This was a cute one.
I’ve always been a little different. I when I little I would mix match the couple outfits Mum would lay out on the bed to wear and make my own. I wore two different socks one time, orange and green to match the shorts shirt combo. I remember it. A parent turned to Mum and said “You’re gonna let her go like that?” as Mum says, “If she feels confident like that then I’m not gonna stop her”. Thank you Mum. It’s important to be different. Mum made the dress I wore to the Notable TVparty about 16 posts ago.
The video of the party just came out, go watch it now! Julian talked about the the Notable brand in his toast (3:28) which is my favorite part after Raymi and I at 2:40. haha j.k. There are some cool smart young people featured on Notable TV and I like how Julian wants to give people something different. I think that’s important. I truly love the amount of motivation & determination amongst Generation Y in Toronto. There are some really cool things going on in this city. Makes me proud!
So nice out yesterday. I could have let the day last forever. Today too. I like it hot. They were talking about mozzies while we were sitting in the grass and I was like ‘no, what mosquitos? I don’t feel them’. Biggest loser. Today I’m scratchy-mc-scratcherton.
The baddest bikes around. Pete was having a one night stand with this one and testing it out. Cervelo got the green jerz in Tour de France and they’re partying this week. Picture makes me giggle cause the leg looks kinda like the bike to me.
I was in friend heaven last night hugging everyone so tight. I missed you guys! I haven’t seen so many favorite faces all together for a while. I met some cool new people and my purse is full of business cards. Lost my keys but my glasses have been located.
Pretty much everyone in the joint tweets. I met two people that were don’t, how weird. Follow @pinkbrickroad and @dariusbashar, they’re cool kids. Patio was beau-teeeee-ful. Fun, sun, friends, beer, music, like OMG can it get any better.
Then I met this guy who is nice (sorry I forgot your name) and we chatted but he had something to say, he doesn’t get my blog. Like really, what is the point? Um, well, ah….it started because I wanted to remember stuff better and I was bored and I like writing. Now, people read it and like it and some people even say I’m inspiring. How cool is THAT! Me thanks Mum and Daddio for inspiring me.
My stickers are always a hit. I make stickers because I think it’s better than a business card at this kind of thing. They get stuck on peoples clothes and name tags and they wear them around proudly. You can’t wear a business card around and look as cool as you do with a sticker. Plus, at the end of the night you have the sticker with my URL and Twitter making me easy to find. Plus, the picure makes it hard to forget my pretty little face. Ha!! Two points for me. We all tuned in to hear the exciting news that Redwire is now Sprouter , “an application facilitating real-time discussion and networking”. Their next step in their mission “to provide exceptional tools for start up founders.” Just as I was listening in the door came Toronto bloggers Ad Girl and Tech Nerd.
Darius though it was really funny to pretend to toss my baby Bobby laptop around. haha, as in not funny! Darius runs the social network of do-googers Daily Challenge. I’ve worked with them on a few great events over the last year and I also won my little blue steel camera in a Daily Challenge contest. Yahooo! I do good.
It was a busy day and all the beer fun has left me a little tired today. I’d like to be laying in the grass floating in pool with my sunnies on. Oh, remember when I was all gung-ho about Sobey’s opening next door and being 24 hours? I set up a Twitter account cause I thought it would be funny to say what was happening there in the wee hours of the morning etc. Well it’s not 24 hours but they DO want the Twitter account. Badass.
“i can’t write today somethings wrong i can’t smile today life is a sad song my heart hurts so does my foot in my shoe, today is a sad day without you. “
This is a little poem published in my book in 1996. I’m working on getting that site up so you can see all the good stuff I did when I was a teeny-bopper. It runs through my head when I get writers block, prime example…today.
I hate the days when I have so many thoughts I can’t even get them down. If I have to think too much about what to write I save a draft and start something new and random then see where it goes. I’ve composed three today. My mind is racing with excitement about projects and a few other things. I’m really looking forward to Wired Wednesday tonight. I feel like I weird Wednesday right now. Didn’t bike today, my dress is too pretty.
I’ve met some really rad girls in the TO blogging scene. I want to share a video of Muireann from Bangs and Bun. I watched it today and I have a crush on her accent. We’re having brunch Sunday and I’m gonna let her do most of the talking!
Keri is the Canadian Explorer and I love reading about her adventures. Karly writes ‘Oh, hey there‘ a Tumblr blog. The girls have all become my friends on Twitter and I enjoy reading their blogs. Check ‘em out!
there’s a kid on this train and i hate him. i thank thank god and my friends in Boston for this laptop and the beer in my hand for without them i may kill a small child. the parents are arrogant fucking assholes that think their kids are more important than the sanity of everyone else traveling on this machine. the kids are screaming and one is practicing his gargling. it’s rare for me to ever think about having children and at this very moment i find the mere thought to be torture. a can of sleeman cream ale sits between my legs as i type on the little railway table. it’s about the perfect size for a netbook. hard luck if you have anything bigger than 10″ inches. if that little fucker screams again. i’m listening to the best mix ever. bondi beach surf-side sounds, a unique mix someone gave me i’ve never been able to find again. i’ll share it one day. my friends know the one i mean. the internet on this train is also shitty. i tryped this on notepad first. I chat with my boss on bbm about him saying I need to stop chatting/tweeting and the president knows.
god, there’s a fucking freight train delay now.
it’s funny because the girl giving the message on the intercom hates what she is saying and her poor voice is hesitant and scared. i find that comforting because while everyone else is getting pissed and i don’t really give a shit because all i’m doing is hanging out and writing. i have all my gadgets and using the train’s internet and power.
ok i give a shit now. we’re stopped and the damn attendant is no where to be found. i told him i wanted to order two drinks for a FUCKING REASON AND this is IT. my enemy keeps roaring a kids HAHAHAHAHAHA laugh really loud. i would have never acted like those kids, ever. i’d have gotten told. we were very well behaved. children. I thought the train was a good idea but now I am dying to get off this thing.
i listened to a couple of passenger Robert’s audio voicemails and his limewire library over the internet. he likes Weird Al, tool, starrs of the lid, hala strana. I wonder if he’s cool. I will never know.
Good Morning! I feel like I could be a radio show today. I am happy to be at work. It’s a beautiful day might even thunderstorm later. The ride in is what I have been missing for the past two weeks. Breaks fixed. Wore my helmet and felt good about it. Smarter, like it keeps my thoughts all bunched up close together and in a jumble and now I sit here and they all flow out like waterfalls fast how I like them to. Held my nose past the slaughterhouse, stinks bad man. Gross. NO strikers anymore. Good thing. Saw a soda pop van covered in astro-turf grass. Breakfast Television has lost my interest but I like the news and weather of CP24.
Hot today still humid. Thunderstorm would be nice. I like to ride through the puddles. Dad’s got a sewing machine for me and I’ve got heaps of fabric and vintage patterns at home. Really excited. Twestival Local is coming up September 12th 2009, mark your calendar. In Twestival Global raised over $250,000.00 for charity: water. It was really fun. Twitter has grown so much since February. I hope it rains when I bike home.
I wanted to wear the dress for ages. It’s so cute but short. Mum brought it back from the homeland a couple months ago. She made it when she was about 16 and Nana had it. Raymi had this hat in her purse. Good one. I haven’t done a sneek attack like that in ages. I loved it. Recognize same face…haha.
Lots of cool peeps were at the Notable TV party. We were all celebrating them being named Top 5 Emerging Digital Brands in Canada for 2009. Nice to see a bunch of bloggers. Love that too.
Talia was looking hot! Her Sunshine girl photo is here. If you never saw mine from 2001, it’s here. I have a heap of photos from the night here. Nice Raymi and Reado. Was a fun party.
Marben is packed on Thursdays. It’s nice to run into so many familiar faces in one little local spot. Vaneska was DJ and the music was rad. Danced a bit around the vodka table. Mostly chair dancing as not to spill drink, fall or get a bruise from the table.
Before we went there was an unfortunate accident when I opened the freezer door and a vodka fell out and smashed on the clen kitchen floor. Smashed. Full bottle. SO accident prone. Got a battle would cleaning up the glass. Thank goodness boyscout had bandaids.
Congrats to Julian and NotableTV. SO happy it’s the weekend. Staying way from Caribana crowds. I used to go when I was a teenager but I don’t like it anymore. Bring on the sunshine!
I walked around for about an hour thinking about my life. I was having realizations and I felt like a crazy person.
It was as if I was in a fog. I was having anxiety.
Sometimes I freak out. Sometimes I don’t want to be on the internet anymore. Sometimes I don’t know what to do about stuff and sometimes I forget things. I started freaking about my last minute trip to a foreign country. Panicked. Instant attack.
I left the store. I walked down the street back in my own fog again. I’m nervous about going but then think not going would be silly too. For a bunch of different reasons. It’s a chance to relax and go some place cool with bunch of cool old friends. Relax.
I’m packing one bag; one nice outfiit, one dress, one piece bathing suit, one yoga mat. This is the relax retreat. A true mini vacation/airport tour. Vanilla as some may say.
I know when I come back Sunday I’ll have had lots of time with self. I love traveling; airport, airplane, people, waiting, watching, thinking, moving. I love being in motion.
Curry chicken day from catering. My favorite. My new glasses should be arriving any day now. Maybe they’ll be home when I get there. Made plans with myself tonight, need those days. Was thinking after Mum left that I’d like to go on another trip and went to meet Tiff at the Spoke Club. Some cool artwork hanging around right there at the moment.
Turned out to be a fun night. Ran into friends after she headed back to the burbs. Had drinks, smoked cigars and booked a trip to Mexico for the weekend. I say, you just gotta put it out there, the power of positive thought. It works. More on that adventure later. Mum’s gonna ring me as soon as she reads this saying “MEXICO!!!!!!!!! CASIE!!!!!”. I can hear it.
Ran into some peeps that know the blog and made a new friend. She’s cute, look & listen to what she said. So cute.
Traveled some blogs recently and found cool cats like The Deadly NightShades collective and Agent Lover. My fav one is this little darling in NY who’s started the Uniform Project. She’s wearing one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion while raising funds for school kids in India. So cool.
She’s got 7 identical dresses and she reinvents them with style like you wouldn’t believe. She’s as cute as a button. I’d like to be her friend. I showed Sabrina ans she said “she’s a brown you”. God she’s cute.
When I was growing up Mum had a best friend named Pat Hope. They’re still best friends. They lived around the corner from us. Pat only had one son but no daughters.
To us, she was like a fairy god mother. She was our second mum. She would pick up girly things on her travels like jewelry and dresses. She always had sweet treats with her.
She had a room full of bunny things. She dressed beautifully and had great style. Her house was always beautiful and decorated better than any other…for every occasion. She would host elegant dinner parties with a long list of guests. Snacks on every table. She rules, my second mum.
They came to visit Jenie and I after work. Was excited to show Mum new comp and helmet. She was really happy. Had some wine and chatted while the Y&R was on.
Found out today that it was Dad that got Mum into watching it before I was born. Dad picked my name from the show. Casey was Nikki Newman’s sister, a hot doctor. It’s great having them over for a visit.
