Events | LCBO’s Harvest Menu w/ Love for Local w/ Chef Lynn Crawford

Thursday was a busy one! I went to 4 media events and was home just after 8pm. It’s fun but exhausting! Today is chill time, hair, nails, lunch, art show w/ bae. Had a great kickoff to fall yesterday w/ LCBO & Wine Country Ontario over lunch hosted by Chef Lynn Crawford (Food Network Canada & The Cooking Channel). The event featured a Thanksgiving menu prepared by Chef Lynn, along with several other talented winemakers, chefs, and food artisans from Ontario. I don’t go to heaps of ‘foodie’ events, although I enjoy them! It’s always a bit funny for me because the foodies are REALLY serious about the food, flavours, textures, pairings. I love listening. My take is usually, much more relaxed, a lifestyle writer approach. Does it taste good? Can I cook this at home? Will my friends like it? Can I impress the BF/parents? The menu is now available at LCBO stores across Ontario and looks like the top photo in this post. The little book features ideas for hosting, cocktail & cocktails, food/wine pairings, and recipes. Game, Set, Match! Bacardi Canada Raquet Club & Cocktails

Last week I went to the Rogers Cup with April. It’d been a while since we had a good girl hang and the night was perfect. Huge thanks to Bacardi Canada for treating us like social royalty; they sent a car service and took good care food & drinks for the night. Their goal was to capture the court side cocktail vibe with Bacardi classics: The Bacardí Mojito, Bacardí Cuba Libre, and Bacardí Limónade. April and I made the most of every moment by checking out all the booths and entering all contests or promotions happening. We laughed our heads off the whole time. Fingers crossed we win that Jamaica trip! Shoutout to Woodbine Racetrack for their photo booth (see SQUAD above), we had fun getting the right shot haha. New Bike, Snacks, Shoppers, #SMDay

Well hello my friends. 😎✌This photo was taken yesterday and although I look very smiley, I’m not feeling great. I’m so tired. I’m not sure if it’s the small time change last week with my trip to Calgary or lack of sleep but I’m lethargic. I miss the cottage. It’s been weeks since we’ve got to have a good cottage hang and it’ll be at least a week before we get back up to Muskoka. I’m in Ottawa this weekend then back for The Queen’s Plate. In other news, I had some good things yesterday… I used to have a Red Schwinn cruiser bike that I LOVED. I rode that baby all over town for a coue simmers, Junction to Beaches and back. Unfortunately some jerk vandalized my bike and it was unridable, went to the bike graveyard. RIP. 2 years ago I purchased a new one from Bikes On Wheels, Queen West and it was stolen before summer was over. Last year I didn’t ride at all it made me sad. YESTERDAY, my brand new Schwinn Cruiser was ready for pickup. 🚲👍 Schwinn Canada has welcomed me as a bike ambassador and I’m back on the road baby! I’ve got a few things to add (bell, basket, lights) before we’re full time but one little cruise yesterday made my heart sing. 💛 If you stop by your local Shoppers Drug Mart you might see their new ‘Summer Covered’ Campaign. Made in Canada: Bathing Belle Swimwear – CUTENESS ALERT!

Ok, this is a special post because I don’t usually post things with kids/for kids but after visiting the High Park Studio of Bathing Belle, I absolutely HAVE to share. I met Danica (the designer of Bathing Belle Swimwear) a couple weeks ago, we had a little hangout and she gave me a tour of her studio. She ALSO measured me for a custom made bathing suit. I’ve always had a hard time finding swimwear that fits, I’m fairly petite but heavy in the breast region. To be honest, finding a bathing suit that fits properly had been more like a nightmare. Last week I popped by the Bathing Belle studio to pick up my new, custom suit and good lord, IT FITS PERFECTLY. I know mum will be happy to read this because she was there during high school when I broke down to tears in the Bikini Village fitting room over nothing fitting right. Danica makes a great selection of women’s swimwear in gorgeous and fun prints, available on one piece, two piece, monokini, and mastectomy. Excuse the hangers, I really should have taken those off! These are three of my favs. One of the cutest things ever are the matching mum/dad + kids suits. Burger and fries loving family? This one’s for you. Those are little onion rings with the burgers, ahhhh. Little scrunchies to match as well. Cuteness overload. Danica was recently at Dune Studios in NYC to shoot the kids suits with photographer Paul Wright. Art Directed by Ellen with Burnie, hair and makeup by Akiko Owada, kids suits look absolutely adorable. May Flowers, Things are in BLOOM!

Started today with this crew directing my first 1188 project. Pretty exciting! It went awesome and now comes the next steps in the creative process of putting it all together. Saw this along Queen Street today, typical, hipsters, lol. Was kinda excited this morning. Directing is fun! So happy it’s May, my fav month! My birthday is in a week. Tomorrow is media day at Canada’s Wonderland and we’re opening the cottage this weekend too. See ya soon Muskoka! Expect an abundance of beautiful lake life photos the next few months. Went to a Kastor&Pollux party at Neubacher Shor Gallery last night. It was fun NO FUN! Ok, NO FUN PRESS was one of the hosts so it was actually pretty fun. They had vending machines with stickers and stuff in them and I won a prize! Made this super cute bracelet at the ALDO Shoes FW15 preview earlier in the day. More details on that soon. Heading to Bellwoods to meet the girls and practice our dance. We have 5 weeks until the show! Ahhhhh. Saw this and it totally reminded me of us. Can’t wait for our Pinup Picnic later this month! Watch Me Tablescape It on The Design Network!

A couple weeks ago I was on set with Sarah Glynn to film an episode of Tablescape It, her new show on The Design Network. We took a wooden tray with industrial handles from my place and incorporated it in a chic bar setup for an upcoming shindig at my place. S1 E1 Designer Sarah Glynn has a mission: to create an industrial-chic bar for lifestyle blogger Casie Stewart, who is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of her blog. Sarah finds inspiration in a rustic wood tray that’s special to Casie, setting up a one-of-a-kind bar complete with vintage bar cart, a DIY light installation and playful accents to help get the party started. No matter what you’re doing, do it with style.

I can’t express enough how writing a blog is like therapy for the soul. Also cheaper than a therapist! You help yourself by writing it, and being able to look back helps you move forward. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed but overall excited about things I’m working on. February is aways the most difficuly month, it’s so cold and SAD. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies over here! I’m a real human. 🙂 This is my life… Was at St. Michaels hospital yesterday, I thought the hallway looked nice. Have had some chest pains the last while so trying to figure out what’s going on is one of my latest missions. Had an X-Ray the other day and was referred to a special clinic to book an ultrasound. Hospital gown chic. Remember, no matter what you’re doing, do it with style.

All The Girly Things Post on a Sunny Friday

First things first, HAPPY FRIDAY! Started my day with some work and an amazing croissant from Cafe Neon in my hood. I’m all out of Tassimo so ventures out into the cold sunshine to treat myself. I really love working from home and for myself. It’s been about six months and I’ve got myself a schedule. I can’t wait till summer when my schedule means staying up at the cottage during the week here and there and morning coffee on the dock after kayaking. I’ve started a new subscription with NextIssue, the Netflix of magazines and I love it. I spend so much time on my phone, and love magazines, but buying heaps and carrying them around is not practical for me. Here we go, couple great fashion stories yesterday! I also had my hair done. Stopped into The Loft, Queen West and decided it was time to ditch the violet and bring back blonde. I love the decor in there, it’s all vintage and charming, the furniture, old trunks, china plates, brass fixtures. Reminds me of Mum’s house growing up. I’m heading back there Friday afternoon for a Dermalogica facial. I’m addicted, I’ve been getting them on a regular basis for a year now. He’s all grown up and totally catching some heat for the campaign but mostly because some of the shots look weird. Hey Ho Holidays! Wig out, Wear a Onesie, Smile!

We had Sean’s holiday party 1188 x Revolver Films X Bon Bon Mag on Thursday last week and come Friday I was so tired. This weekend I was getting ready to host a few friends over for a holiday hangout & secret Santa. We set up a photo booth and it was so much fun. Nothing like good times with great friends. I’ll have photos from both soon. Stopped into Philistine on Queen West, one of my fav stores. They burn these great cedar incense that remind me of the cottage each time I walk in. They have a huge selection of clothes, accessories, and I’ve snagged a few goodies from the sale rack. Spotted these tea cups at The Bristol at The Great Hall. Picked up meat pies for everyone at 1188 last the other day and thought they were so pretty. This art had been on the wall here for a while now. Makes me think about how much I’ve grown/changed. There’s been some neat experiences the last few years that have really shaped the person I am now. This is a bit of a ramble post. I blog to remember so it’s important I write things down, ok! Painted some pineapples and added glitter for my table display this weekend, Thanks Pinterest! Here’s a good article about Pinterest vs Real Life. It’s what happened when a woman tried to live the ‘Pinterest life’ for a week. Some learns, some fails, very exhausting. This was me at the end of the party on Sunday. Feeling Very Thankful. #ThankFALL

We had Thanksgiving up at the cottage this year and it was so great! We headed up north on Friday to spend time with Sean’s parents and family. I planned to do some work around the house on Monday but instead I slept in, relaxed, and watched Netflix. It was a holiday! Fall is a time of year we give thanks and think about what we’re grateful for. Target contacted a bunch of Canadian bloggers and asked us to share what we’re thankFALL for.
