Found this in an alley near my house the other day. I would be kinda annoyed if this was my wall but I also like the message.
This is a little reminder that you can do anything you want. Just go, get up off the couch and DO IT. Want to start a blog? Make one. Be an enrtepreneur? Do something every day to bring you closer to your goal. There is nothing standing in your way other than your own self-doubt, fear, or anxiety. Not having time or money is not an excuse. Face whatever is holding you back, head on, and make a change.
There’s no point wasting your time and energy doing something you don’t want to do. Life is short and every day you should do something that makes you happy.
I originally drew this back in 2009. It was around the time I quit a job I didn’t want to do anymore. I wasn’t allowed to do use social media at work since it wasn’t part of my job (they blocked Twitter & Facebook!). I’d removed time stamps from my blog as to hide when things were posted. I quit that job to do social at Much/MTV and have never looked back.
Since then, if I find myself in a situaion where I don’t want to do whatever it is, I quit. I find a way to get out of it or change it into something I do actually want to do.
Make the most of each day. You’ll never be younger than you are right now. 😊
I didn’t even know today was ‘International Sunglasses Day’ when I planned this post! It’s always crazy when those random days seem to line up with something you’re doing.
A couple weeks ago I received an email from SmartBuyGlasses with an offer to pick out a pair of new sunnies for summer. It’s times like this I reallllly love my blog! I’d been eying a pair of Céline glasses for a while but couldn’t justify paying full price. Well, SmartBuyGlasses is the place to go! They’ve got heaps of designer sunnies at discount prices. I really like their huge selection of Carrera and RayBan (next on my wishlist!).
I’m wearing the Céline ‘Tilda’ from SS15 which retails for about $500 CAD and on the SBG website they’re under $400. They’re made of acetate but have an expensive feel, as in they’re kinda heavy. I have a pretty big huge collection of sunnies ranging in price and save fancy ones like this for special occasions. They’re a little big on my head but I’m gonna try some Nerd Wax to keep them in place.
My sister throwing shade in a commercial we shot recently.
When this was delivered Sean said ‘look, it’s your biggest fan!‘ 😛 I don’t do product reviews often but when a piece of really cool tech comes along I’m happy to test it out and share my thoughts. A few people asked about the fan when it arrived early spring so scroll down for my fav features.
tl;dr: This fancy fan is the best one I’ve ever owned. It’s quiet and you can monitor your home air quality from the iPhone app. Also, at high speed, you can be just like Beyonce!
This is my allergy free happy face!
Since I was a kid I’ve been prone to seasonal allergies. They usually kick in around the worst times like March Break or Back to School.
A member of the PR team from Dyson saw my tweets about allergies and offered I try the Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower. This fan has no blades and is easy to clean, plus it removes 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns. Allergies can actually be made worse by indoor dust and pollens.
I received the fan in the spring and used it in the living room for the last couple months. It’s great for cleaning the air of smells (when cooking), making the house feel fresh, and cleaning toxins out of the air. You don’t even want to know how much dirt is in the air or carpets.
I can’t 100% say it was just the fan but I hardly had any reactions this spring. I found the fan really helped with the air quality in our house. It’ll be nice to see how the app tracks and monitors our air quality.
Set it, forget it – The fan will monitor air quality in your home and adjust settings to clean the air.
Multipurpose – It’ll purify your air all year and act as a fan in the summer (multi-purpose).
Design – It’s nice looking, for all the features packed in, it hardly looks like an appliance
Night mode – It will work through the night but is super quiet. I’m not one of those people that like the sounds of a fan at night.
Oscillation– trust me it has real soft moves
Removes odour – we initially had it in the living room and it’s great for clearing the air especially when cooking
If you or someone in your family is prone to allergies or you just want really clean air, this is the fan for you. It’s on the pricey side but if you’re looking for similar function on a lower budget, try the smaller Dyson Pure Cool™ Link Desk. Read up on the fan features at dysoncanada.ca website.
If you’re looking at other Dyson products we also have the Dyson V7 and I love that little thing!
For the record, I was given this fan in exchange for sharing my opinion!
It’s crazy and mind opening to go back into my life diary and see things I made and not really remember creating them. Imagine 10 years from now, scrolling back to read the diary you started today?
There’s a lot of benefits as you may know, to keeping a journal (here’s 10). I started mine, mostly to keep more memories and it has totally worked. Writing this blog has helped my memory, writing, self-discipline, and it’s pretty good therapy (for the record!).
In the last 12 years I’ve grown from a wild post-uni 20-something to an adult doing real things. Still kinda wild tho! I had no idea what this (journal) would turn into when I started, or back in 2009 when I took this photo and wrote words on it. I’m really glad I didn’t give up all those times I thought about it.
Randomly found the 2009 photo below while searching (for something else) in my blog yesterday. I’ve taken so many photos and written a ton of things, sometimes I actually inspire myself!
I guess what I’m saying is, anything is possible and you can find
a lot of inspiration in your own archives.
Canada Day weekend is just around the corner and as you’re aware there’s heaps of celebrations of our wonderful country. One in particular, I’m sharing with you right now combines two of my fav things, PIZZA and ART. Also, I really love, love pizza….
Panago partnered with Toronto-born born artist Chairman Ting to create a one of a kind rad drawing you’ll find on their pizza boxes until August.
AND, in true #RandomActsofPizza Panago fashion, if you colour in the box and share it with them on social, you might just score yourself some free pizza.
A post shared by C A S I E S T E W A R T (@casiestewart) on
To get my hands on the new boxes, I hosted a pizza party at the office. We had the new Canadian pizza with all the trimmings. The boxes are actually really cool! I’d love to do something like this. There’s all kinds of little Canadian things including the CN Tower, a Mountie, lighthouse, the Rockies, Parliament in Ottawa in more. Panago is a Canadian brand and you’ll find locations across the country.
“We wanted to celebrate all regions across the country,” says Christie Coughlan, Panago VP Marketing Director. “The summer box is the perfect packaging to promote our Ultimate Canadian, True Canadian and Vegan Canadian pizzas this summer, while shouting—not whispering—Happy Birthday to the Canada!”
What a great weekend! We had heaps of rain but I *actually* sat down and got a lot done. Sean and I also did The Big Clean of 2017! This week my friend Misty and her daughter + sister are coming up to the cottage with Emily and myself. It’s going to be super fun. relaxing, visiting and GIRLY. I’m really looking forward to it! Misty is from Australia (but lies here) and her sis visiting from the motherland. Shrimp on the barbie! Haha.
IN OTHER NEWS…
Sean won TWO MMVAs last night at the show! We were deep into the big clean when I checked Twitter to see they won the first one and seconds later saw a second tweet.
PROUD GF MOMENT!
2007 MMVA After Party at ULTRA w/ Hannah. Paris Hilton was there!
A Little MMVA history…
Over the last 10 years, my relationship with the MMVAs has gone through some major changes.
Back in 2007-2008, going to an MMVA party was the coolest thing and being on a list or getting a wristband was the ultimate.
In 2012, Sean was nominated for Down With Webster video and I came out to celebrate his win after the show. It was in the early stages of our relationship and I remember thinking he was SO COOL. (Still is!)
1188 MMVA Win – these things are SUPER HEAVY
In 2015, he was nominated again for Zed’s Dead and did the red carpet before the show. I really wanted to go but he didn’t have plus 1. He went with his partner on the project (Grandson & Son) and he sent me this photo! We’d stopped at Yorkdale on the way home from the cottage. He got into his clothes as fast as he could. I made sure he was looking great and sent him out the door. Then they WON! I think I went to meet them and celebrate that night too. Sean won another time for a Sam Roberts video since then. One year I also hosted a VIP room in an MMVA lounge where celebs came though.
Sean on the MMVA red carpet in 2015
Yesterday around the middle of the day, Sean had to decide if he was going to the show or not. Should we go and party? He decided no! It was kinda great. The sun came out at the cottage and we got heaps of work done.
In all my years of knowing about the MMVAs never did I think I would be in a relationship with an MMVA winner and decide to not even go to the show. We’reI old now lol. (ok, maybe next year!) Well, it was a great night up at the cottage and feeling super well rested and alive today.
Also to note that LORDE won Best International Artist and Archie from Riverdale (KJ Apa, a Kiwi!) was there so it was a big night for New Zealand.
In celebration of converse.ca (Welcome to 🇨🇦 !) they sent an awesome package. The box is an old computer with a lenticular screen, and it’s full of disks. A couple disks have codes for FREE SHOES and I’m sharing then w you. YAY! I gave a pair to Matt @ 1188 to test shipping. Ordered Friday shipped Monday, on his feet Tuesday in TO from Montreal.
Such cool packaging.
Those are all my old ones!
Every summer I get a new pair of white Converse because after wearing them all summer with no socks, trust me, they’re worn out done. I’d like a pair of white leather hightops but I also love the little white Dainty. Really feeling the Nike X Flyknit but they only come in mens sizes and my feet are too small. 😩
The new Converse II soles are more comfortable. They’re a great summer staple, love them with dresses or jeans, shorts, and rompers. They’re my fav. I have a framed photo of my Andy Warhol converse in my room and another couple pairs tucked away in under bed storage for safe keeping; an Andy Warhol pair and classic Chuck Taylor high tops with my signature on the tongue.
💡It's kind of fun writing little disclaimers at the bottom of posts. Have you noticed? As I said, Converse sent me a cool present and I decided to share with you on my blog like I have done since 2009. This is what I love about blogging telling a story about something I love and my little ol' life and sharing with you. Thank you Micki and Converse team, also again this package is awesome.
Wednesday this week I took Sean to a track with Ford Canada to giver in the Ford RS and Mustang GT. I’ve driven on tracks with Ford a few times so know just how fun it is. It really helped me learn to handle a vehicle and be a more confident driver.
Ford invited me to bring a dad in my life in celebrations of Fathers Day. Sean works really hard and I knew this would make him feel great! I only went one lap and let him take a few extra just to see the smile on his face.
Look at that genuine happiness!!
Our options to drive were Ford Mustang GT Convertible, Ford Mustang GT Fastback, and the Focus RS. The Focus RS is REALLY FAST. You’ll see Sean say it’s amazing in the video. 😜
I took lots of selfies in the Mustang Convertable, love this car AND the weather!
One of my fav things of the day was doing a ‘hot lap’ with professional drivers Darryl Timers (Ford of Canada’s Performance Driver since 2013). Our vehicles were fully stocked with GoPro’s to catch our reactions. I also woer my Snapchat specs while driving so hit play below to see a first person view of me on the track.
The weather was perfect this weekend. Spent most of it at our friends cottage. Came up Saturday after a friends wedding. Last night we had the most epic meal of steak, shrimp, potatoes, salads, garlic bread. It was so good. Had some leftovers for breakfast! Feels great to spend time w/ good friends and family. ❤️
Unfortunately on Saturday night I got killed by mosquitoes and deer flies. My legs look like I’ve been on Survivor. I counted 80 bikes last night but I feel like more and more are swelling up. I’m so itchy! 😩
FYI you can soon enjoy La Croix in Canada! It’s coming this month.
We’re staying up an extra day so my Monday will be spend working in between breaks on the water and in the sun.
We went out for a nice rip on these guys today. Very fast! This weather is amazing. Last week was kind of intense so really enjoying every bit of our time here to recharge the batteries.
Remember: you will never be younger than you are today so make the most of it!
For the past few months, I’ve been having my hair done at Sassoon in Yorkville. My hair, although it’s super easy to get ready in the morning, IS VERY high maintenance. I have the colour done about every 4-6 weeks with a trim once, sometimes twice in the middle. I like the experience at Sassoon and each time I’ve had someone different do my hair. Variety is the spice! In April, I went wild for spring and cut it all off super short!
Before I Cut it all off super short!
Taking Care of Your Hair w/ Treatments
Aside from the cut, I really love how great my blonde looks a couple weeks after I get it done. Blonde can be tricky and if you don’t take care of it properly, it’ll go yellow and brassy. The team at Sassoon has been loading my hair up with treatments to make the colour stay and keep it strong.
Treatments Sassoon has been using in my hair:
Colour: Long Lasting Colour Radiance
Coloured hair needs special care to ensure it retains its vibrancy and shine. The colour treatment conditions and protects hair without build-up, helping to maintain long-lasting color radiance and intensity.
Moisturizing: Dry or Undernourished Hair
Sun exposure and pollution strip your hair of essential natural oils, leaving hair brittle and dehydrated. Hair will be immediately revitalized with the intensive moisturizing treatment, providing exceptional conditioning and restoring hair to its natural brilliant shine.
I’m almost due for a trim before my next root touch-up. I love having short blonde hair but I think I’ll try one of the soft spring pastel colours like pink, violet, or peach. Will be so nice for this time of year!
For my next full appointment, I’d like to grow it out a bit and try this new Sassoon cut from the SS17 collection. It’s a unique look but I think I can pull it off! I love the androgynous style. What a babe!
Stay tuned for a whole new look!
I'm partnered with Sassoon Toronto + they make sure my hair is looking super fabulous in exchange for my honest and true opinion. You heard it here first guys! Thank you Sassoon!
To book an appointment at Sassoon Toronto call (416-920-1333 or pop by the website here for location info.
Earlier this year I joined TD at The Harbourfront Centre on one of the nicest days in February to kick off the TD Common Ground Project. In recognition of Canada’s 150th this year, TD has joined forces with local organizations to help create a legacy by revitalizing over 150 green spaces to bring us all together. 🌿🌻🐛🌎🌸
Projects range from science projects to trail building and heaps more including a new pedestrian walkway to Waterloo Park (Waterloo), improvements to an outdoor public library and rec space in Halifax, a 4.6-hectare green area in Montreal, and an outdoor celebration area & pollinator habitat right here in GTA (Scarborough). Learn more about individual projects by visiting commongroundproject.td.com. 💚
City of Toronto: The TD Pollinator Engagement Centre @ Morningside Park
The Toronto / Scarborough flagship piece focuses on the revitalization of Morningside Park and they’re already planning!
The park is an Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) and the new engagement center will feature an outdoor classroom and community celebration area, as well as a pollinator habitat. GTA residents will be able to go to learn about the park, attend the annual festivals, go to weekend seminars on local plants, and take part in stewardship programs.
Schools who visit the park will learn about Morningside Park and its connection to the Scarborough community as well as pollination and how pollinators relate to the natural systems of the park.
I love this initiative and I’m so happy to be working on another great project with TD.
I’ll keep you posted about the project as it goes on over the next 6 months. If you’d like to learn more visit commongroundproject.td.com and follow the hashtag #TDCommonGround to see what we’re up to! 🌿🌻🐛
What a difference a week and some sunshine can make! MY GOD. Also, thank you to all who read and commented on my post about anxiety. We all go through hard days and I want you to know I feel it too. I’m a human just like you!
Loving the weather this week. Have spent a good chunk of time at the house writing and getting things done. I’ve also been biking everyday and done some yoga. Feels so good!
We did yoga on the deck on Monday night and it was SO NICE. The warm and and fresh breeze. Totally magical!
New deck layout after the rain and morning yoga. I love it here so much. Looks really good at night too with the Edison bulbs I got from Canadian Tire.
On Tuesday Keri (@keriblog) and I gave our home patio a HUGE makeover. I loaded up on plants at the Walmart sale and picked up a few cushions, lights, etc. They’re so nice! I’m in love with the new look and feel.
This was the biggest haul I’ve ever done. We filled 2 shopping carts then packed the entire jungle into her lil’ VW Golf.
It rained a bit but was also sunny and we saw a DOUBLE RAINBOW!
Thank the sun gods for LESS RAIN, FINALLY. This ‘Double Rose‘ shirt is my new fav I picked up last weekend at the Skinny Sweats pop up (Toronto designer!). I love it so much. I’m inspired to make similar ones with my face on the tatas and some emojis, haha.
Yesterday Lauren (@laurenonizzle) and I went to the afternoon Blue Jays game and rode around on our bikes after. We both have Schwinn cruisers from Canadian Tire so we are SCHWINN TWINS. SCHWINNING.

Have some really fun and exciting work coming up the next couple months and I’m excited to share with you. It feels so incredibly cool to be doing work I love. Tonight dad is coming over to shoot a project for Father’s Day.
This past week was a hard one for me. Actually, this entire month has been a challenge, I’ve been on the verge of a meltdown since May 2017 started with birthday anxiety. I had a trip to Jamaica that started with an allergic reaction in my eyes, where I couldn’t see that well, it rained heaps, I missed my bf, and I got my period. When I got home I was overwhelmed with anxiety about work I needed to get done, and it was a short week. I went to the 1188 office every day to get the music video I directed wrapped up, and didn’t really have time to work (at home like usual) on blog things. The week finished week with a full day on set. I was so tired.
Finally, on Saturday, it happened. I legit had a meltdown. Our car had a problem with the tire so I rented a car for the afternoon with my car sharing app and left around 11:15 to make it to Scarborough by 12:15. Well, no, that wasn’t happening. It took me 45 min to get to the DVP (highway downtown for non-TO peeps) and by then I was feeling super stressed after leaving the house in a huff w/ Sean. Then mum called and it opened the floodgates to me balling my eyes out, stuck in traffic. It seemed like everything around me was collapsing. Then, it started raining and the event I was about to drive an hour to was canceled. BUT, I was already on the DVP and still in traffic. I took a few deep breaths and decided to get off the highway. Didn’t really know where I was heading but the end goal was home.
I decided to put on the Lumineers album and for the next 30 minutes, drove past Yorkdale, down the Allen to Eglington, singing and crying loudly in the car. (I laugh about it now but at the time I was really feeling at a loss and wondering what to do with my life.)
I don’t have those days very often but they happen. I get anxiety about all kinds of things and get down and into a dark place every now and then. It’s hard to manage sometimes and those days I find it really hard to be an ‘internet person’. I don’t feel like sharing or putting on a smile, pretending everything is ok.
I’ve written 10+ posts over the years titled ‘Sometimes I Don’t Feel Like It‘ when I don’t want to blog anymore. Writing through it helps me deal. I like going back to read them when I get in a mood and it helps me know it’s ok to feel that way and I’ll be ok.
I’ve wanted to quit a bunch of times and each time, when I push through whatever it is I’m feeling, and don’t give up, something good happens.
After I finally got home from my 2.5 hour tour of the city, I rode my bike over to yoga for a popup Sandy was hosting. It was the turning point. I had a mini massage, brows done, tarot card reading, wrote some postcards, and got a beautiful bouquet w/ pink & yellow peonies to bring home.
We left for the cottage shortly after. The next day, I spent a good chunk of time outside doing yard work w/ Sean, enjoying the sunshine, making food, and laughing together. It was the reset I needed.
Today I felt totally renewed and open to anything that came my way. I’ve found that if I don’t have time to rest my mind, body, and thoughts, I can’t even deal with anything. I also really enjoy my alone time. It helps me recharge.
This isn’t a sponsored thing, I was inspired because Wear Your Label is about ending the stigma around mental illness and May is Meltal Health Month. Honestly, it’s pretty easy to act all smiley for Instagram or whatever but I’m a real human with feelings and the world only sees my life when the sun is out. Sean sometimes says I use all my sunshine up on the internet and he gets the salty version of me. (I’m sorry babe!)
So, here’s an official invite from me to you. The event is at Wednesday 6-8:30pm at Joe Fresh on Queen/Portland and hosted by Wear Your Label. You get 25% off regular priced stuff and one of the exclusive collab hats w/ purchase (see above, all the feels). 50% of the sales will be donated to the Canadian Mental Heath Association in support of mental health in Canada.
I’d love to hug some new and/or familiar faces and share some sunshine with you. The FB event is here.
Most of all, I want to remind you that if you have anxiety or you feel like you can’t even deal anymore or deal one day, remember that it will pass. And it WILL get better. Mum says that’s when you probably need to go and take a nap (and she is usually right!)
I remind myself all the time, the hardest part is THROUGH but YOU CAN DO IT. And you will. And you will be awesome at it.
P.S. It’s also totally ok to drive around loud cry singing to yourself. It actually felt pretty good. This is the song where the title comes from/one I was singing to.
Don't give up on yourself, you're stronger than that.
