la vida es un juego, lo juega!

Happy Friday amigos! Yesterday I walked all Playa del Carmen in the sunshine. It was so lovely.

Last night I went to a soccer game. It was loud and full of energy and excitement. I could hear the cheering & “ole ole ole ole, ole, oleee” from our place so I went to check it out. Big guns & kids everywhere.

Cool bike rack! Never seen one like that before.

Time to hit the beach. Life is a game, play it!

Don’t speak Spanish? No problem! I leave my browser in Spanish (or whatever language the country I am in) so I have to read the language more. It’s a fun game for me, I learn more that way! The title of this post and following translation are from the Playa del Carmen description on Wiki.

Playa del Carmen is one of the most visited sites in the Riviera Maya, and in general of the Mexican southeast. It is in itself a tourist destination, but also are several attractions around mainly related to ecotourism , adventure tourism and beaches.”

Yesterday I checked out the beach & 5th Ave where all the travellers, resort & clubs are. Met two babes from Argentina on the beautiful beach and we swam, tanned and had drinks in the sunshine near the hotel above.

There are so many bars you can get massages at! For the record DO NOT get a massage after a night of drinking. All the toxins will come right out and you will want to put your head in a vice. Trust me, I learned the HARD way.

Saw a live band @ Fusion bar.

Swam w/ Rodrigo, dreamboat from Argentina. See video below. Yikes! ;)

On my way home I stopped by Reina Roja, house of the Red Queen for some wifi and a Piña colada. I’m planning to book a room  there for one night before I leave. It’s an amazingly sexy, cool place! This is the bar downstairs. Today I check out the rooms and the roof top pool & bar ;)

All I packed/need for seven full days fits into my Rimowa super light suitcase & Nella Bella Melbourne bag. Key to the perfect travel outfit for me is layering. Today I wore a little black cotton dress w/ sheer long skirt, cardigan, tights, heels & a hat. I could feel the warm air when we landed so I ditched the cardigan and tights before I left the plane.

Found my suitcase in the airplane magazine!

Went for a stroll around town. Pretty quiet. However, it IS Monday. Think it gets a little wilder come weekend. Made plans to party it up on Saturday.

Compliments to the Chef

I don’t usually post about what I eat (save that for the foodies!) but on Friday I had an absolutely fabulous dinner LUNA inside the TIFF Bell Lighbox.  With Film Fest starting this week, I thought fitting to share! Shannon knows the Executive Chef Jason Bangerter and set my guests and I up with a reso fit for a Queen.

Thank you for a really great meal and first-class service. It was topped off with a lovely plate of desserts including gourmet popcorn. (Film/popcorn, get it?) I had lamb and dessert was to die for. Definitely recommend going there. Will be a mega hit spot for the next two weeks.

One of the films I’d love to catch at this year’s Festival is Drive starring Ryan Gosslin & Carey Mulligan. I like those two. “By day, he works as a Hollywood stunt driver, performing death-defying feats. By night, he steers getaway cars, offering clients five minutes of drive time before they’re thrown out on their own. ” More.

This week is going to be crazy. Must gets heaps of rest before business begins post holiday. Have a car for the festival to assist in efficiency, lots to fit in each day. This is always a jam packed month.

I’m speaking at the She’s Connected Conference end of September too. Apply to attend or sponsor here. Check out the other speakers here. My bio will be up soon. Have a another speaking gig in October that is public, so like, if you ever wanna meet me IRL or hear me talk, you can come. :)

Hope you are enjoying the looooooong weekend! I’m off for dinner with Team Boston. Woot!

pardon me while I burst into flames. seriously.

Mega swoonfest took place last night. I didn’t even take photos of myself or Sammy. ALL BRANDON. He is so good. Great voice, tall skinny, long hair, rocker, tattoos. I’ve been a band fan since high school and last night was my first time seeing them live.

This is Incubus pr0n. #swoon

We were super close. Thank you to my friend Brandon in LA who manages the Incubus Foundation makeyourselffoundation.org for hooking us up with tickets. They put on a really great show. We had a blast.

Shirt open…

Shirt OFF.

So good.

His voice, so good.

Ripped.

The video was really well done.

always have a dream that is longer than a lifetime

Thought of you when I saw this Mum.

Orange hearts painted outside Roy Thompson Hall.

Orange tie.

Mel.

Everyone was ringing their bike bells for Jack. I Rang mine heaps too.

I love how he inspired positivity in so many people. Has anyone in Canada had an impact like this before?

I loved the old photos and seeing things people made for him. Few cans of orange crush too.

Drum practice at N.P.Square.

Huge clap when his daughter talked about his fashion sense in the early years. The funeral was beautiful. Music, singing, kind words.

You were awesome Jack Layton. Your spirit will live on in me and so many people. Your funeral was touching. (I balled my eyes out to be honest.) Biked all over with Keri looking at the chalk and reading messages people wrote you. Everyone clapped and sang at your funeral. Tears, smiles and lots of love. You made the world a better place. I will do my best too. Thank you

Gladstone Tweetgasm August 2011: Brock + Sockhop

This month’s Tweetgams was Monday night The Gladstone  hosted by the lovely Brock McLaughlin. Doesn’t he look like James Dean. Swoon.

Tweetgasm is fun. I’m going to host one in October. Stay tuned for that.

Boogie down baby. I went for 60′s Twiggy mod.

Auditioned for a ghosty show today with Lauren O’Nizzle. It was fun. I hope they pick us.

There were some nice outfits. I’m going to have a theme for my Tweetgasm too. Idea submissions encouraged.

THE END.

Fully epic.

This shot of awesome comes to you from the lovely Louisa & She Does The City. Remember that awesome Journey concert last week? See her post & more photos from that epic night here. This photo kills me. We had an awesome time, THANKS AMEX!

stella block party was a stellar block party, blog party.

Welcome to the party.

Please drink responsibly.

The lights were  my love of the night. More of this please. So pretty.

These shots are so tumblrey or hipster bride. If you are reading this and getting married (I know there’s a few!) and don’t know Hipster Bride yet, well, be thankful you are reading this now. It’s full of inspiration.

This one is cool.

Beautiful clear sky & bright moon tonight. I love this city. Reminded me a bit of the supermoon, that night was special.

Bit of a stalk party, cameras everywhere. I bet they make a wicked video from the night. Saw a couple videographers capturing moments in time. Look at that sky & view, so nice.

Loved people walking by wondering what the heck this ‘pop up party’ was. Lights and music were in everyones eyes & ears. You couldn’t miss it. There was a lineup the entire night.

Youre alright but I’m heredarling, to enjoy the party.

Now THIS is cool. Never seen one of these before…

Say, wha? What’s a beer pumper? Oh yes, this is a beer pumper my friends.

Trexxx on the TAPS!

OMG YES! (Ok, wasn’t actually working but still cool.) Want that truck to put out MY fire ifyaknowhatimean.

Had a bunch of peeps I’ve never met IRL who read my blog come say HI. HI GUYS, nice meeting you! Truly great meeting people who read/love this blog and no it’s not creepy/weird when you say “Hi, my name is ____ and I read your blog/follow you Twitter/FB.” (Google+ would be kinda creepy though to be honest. Ha. Seriously.) Always say HI, I love it.

There were a ton of babes on the block. Seriously, babes everywhere.

Nice one Keri for winning the contest & getting to host the party downtown. You looked hot.

I saw that one babe from Wakestock last year but didn’t get to say hi. This one.

We had so much fun at wakestock last year, this post, uhhhh, such great memories. Meeting Flava Flav, hanging w/ Maestro, the Blondetourage. Summer is made for fun.

Button making station. Haven’t seen that one before. I love when people get creative. They also had a photobooth, poutine and ice cream. The Stella Girls were in these darling red dresses, bartenders looked nice too. Good job team.

Represent.

The end.
