Latest app in my photo collection is DBLCAM. Uses both front & back facing cameras to take one picture, tell both sides of the story. It’s free. I love using multiple apps to make creative images. I was making collages of my face and text LONG before apps like Diptic (collage) and Over (text). Learn about those apps by watching my show on Coral TV (iPhonography/Overgram). Filmed a couple new eps in the park today that’ll be released in the next few weeks. My show hits the internet airways each Friday afternoon at youtube.com/coral.
Watched Sixteen Candles last night. Love the style Molly has in the Brat Pack movies. I am going to go shopping this weekend and buying myself some new spring clothes. I’ve been cleaning out my closet and have a huge bag to take to the Salvo for donation. Spring cleaning feels so good.
View was looking pretty nice when I got home from work. I love daylight savings because it feels like getting done work an hour early. I watched the yellow eye of a storm move across the skyline for 20 minutes till the air was filled with hail.
It was a great day for mail too! Opened this lovely tea package from Tetley to find a magical little tea pot & cup for all my teas. Thank you!
Received a Fashion Week Survival kit from FLAUNT. Thanks guys! Totally unexpected and appreciated! It’s got fabric goodies, body tape, silicone nip covers for daring outfits, and an eye mask which I will use tonight. I’m ready for a good sleep.
Last weekend Canadian Club treated Mum, Jenie and to the Sheepdogs concert. These are some of official event photos. The T-List crew was in full force and we joined the band at Cadillac lounge for drinks after the show. Super nice guys.
Thank you Praxis for a great time. Mum had an awesome birthday and it was night we’ll never forget.
This week TechVibes, Canada’s leading online tech publication posted an interview I did during NXNE. Some quotes below, read the whole interview on TechVibes.
“I think the toughest things are when you have no money; essentially, I am an entrepreneur, and I’ve built up my business around my life,” she admits, briefly alluding to her time on TV show Maxed Out.
“I’m really super online, so people always think that I always have all these people around me, and we’re all like best friends. But when you’re a blogger, or you’re starting your own business by yourself, you spend a lot of time alone and at the computer,” she explains. “My life – yeah, a lot of times it is pretty glamorous and really fun, but – you spend a lot of time by yourself.”
HOW DO ASPIRING VLOGGERS/BLOGGERS WIN ONLINE?
“You need to do something every day that brings you closer to your goals,” Stewart advises. “When it comes to the internet, it is survival of the fittest. You gotta be the best, most consistent, you gotta stick at it…When I got home from the airport in Banff this morning, it was 4:30 and I published something on my blog about my panel today so I knew I could just get up and come here.”
I mentally calculate that she’d gotten probably four hours of sleep, and marvel at the fact she just did a panel. On four hours, I would have been passed out by this hour in the afternoon.
Instead of just attending an event or conference, Stewart advises volunteering. “That’s the easiest way to get connected to the people,” she adds. Stewart had even managed to sneak into fashion week parties and stuff like NXNE a few years ago, just to continue to network and introduce herself to people. “Just to even sit front row at a show was a dream,” she reminisces. “This year, I walked the closing show with all the celebrities.”
This week has been full of awesome fun. While I’ve been away I was written about TWICE in Toronto’s culture newspeper The Grid. One day I was in an article about being an introvert and the very next day was a video about me being extroverted and all over the city. Truth is, I’m a little bit of both. I really love spending time alone, in silence and at home and, as you all know, I also love being around lots of people and in the spotlight. Here’s a link to each article.
Casie Stewart is a 29-year-old blogger who was recently featured in an article in The Walrus by Maryam Sanati called “Brand Me,” which shone a spotlight on the major players among Toronto’s “Gen Y personal branders.” These professional internet personalities have managed to generate the success and attention they quite openly—and shamelessly—seek, simply by transcribing the minutiae of their existence online. “Because Stewart’s peers have not known self-doubt as much as we have,” Sanati, a self-identified Gen-Xer, writes, “and because they’re so much better at maneuvering in the digital age than we were, they feel perfectly at ease.” That may be true for Stewart. When it came time for her to speak at the pub, she described herself as “hyper-social.” In fact, the only time she admitted feeling less than socially fluent was during her offline hours.
One more thing! If you are at SXSW Storify will build a story from all your online activity automatically if you connect your accounts. I’ll publish mine tomorrow. Now, off to the convention centre for some fun! Have an awesome day
Über is launching in Toronto and a friend invited me to be one of the first to try it out. So, downloaded the app and booked a car. Less than five min and this fancy thing rolled up…
I took it to my hair appt at Darren’s and as I hopped out of the car I had this moment where I was like “ahhh, this is more like it”. Felt like a diva and it was lovely.
Walked to a meeting then called booked another Über to take me home. Luxury fleet is so damn glam compared to taxi! Met up w/ Shannon for a celebratory drink, then took one more Über to the Doc Martens party. Man, everybody and their dog blog was there!
These ladies are style inspiration for ANY AGE. Someone shared this video with me yesterday when I mentioned that 73 year old fox, Haddie. They’re all from New York and somewhere between “50 and death” as one of them says. I’m not scared of getting old at all. Life is a journey. This year I turn thirty and I’m so ready for it! I know, you thought I was younger my my youthful charm, hold the compliments
Photos were taken by Steve Blackburn from YYZ events. Here’s one he put on Facebook. First time I’ve really seen my new tattoos photographed. I can’t WAIT to add to my arm/sleeve and fill it all in.
It’s always a pleasure for me to go back to 299 Queen Street, the most famous address in Toronto and the home of my last full time 9-5 job. Especially when it’s to be on camera!
I know it’s post holiday and Santa probably brought youuuuuu all you wanted BUT if you’re like me and love a deal, this might just be of use. Some friends introduced me to ShopCatch, an app that shows you location based deals.
I was at home when I snapped these and it gives me a pile of post holiday deals along Queen Street and what’s happening at the Eaton Centre. I have some GC’s to use from Christmas so if it’s nice out tomorrow I’ll see what deals have my name on them. I reckon Mum would love this to watch for Winners clearance. Keep an eye out over the next couple weeks cause they (Winner’s) mark EVERYTHING down cheap. Maybe not in the city but surely in the burbs!
Have a cool app you’d like me to check out? Send a link to apps@casiestewart.com.
We had all the blonde blogging babies out that night. Love those babies. Last night I watched Swingers and now all I wanna do is call my besties babies.
All our boys were there too. Love these love birds. Lozzie & Seany.
Emma is one of my style ICONS. You can find her managing my fav vintage shop @CTS_Queen. She is a beauty and always has the most rad outfits. She picked out my gold dress for the night from the shop, I cut it and added a bow + belt. Check the dance move of the guy in the background above. Ha! The cute baby boy with her below is her charming BF Brendan. Alliteration is my fav literary love.
All photos are taken by my lovely PA Miss Kate Killet. THANKS KATE!
These dudes were part of the dancing dragons. We were really at a Dim Sum spot. I didn’t eat any, I’m not really into Dim Sum. I heard there were serving lobster too.
DANCING DRAGONS!!
Blondetourage rides again, Lauren, Me, Raymbo! BLOG POWER! That’s like GIRL POWER Spice girls style. We’re modern stylin’ Spice Nerds.
Sammy & Ross are in Jamaica right now. DAMN YOU JERKS! j.k. Have fun boys. Bring me back a rum.
My sis Effie was dressed almost same as Lauren. TWINSIES! Thanks Mansion for a fun party!
So, my sister liked her presents! Gave Jenie a bunch of goodies last week but last night I gave her a few ‘special things’. The present she is opening in this video is a lint roller she bought last week at Walmart and left at my house. I thought it was REALLY funny to give back her own crap all wrapped nice. Moohaha. Sister fun.
When we were kids Jenie and I used to wrap up things from around the house. Once I gave her a can of beans and toilet paper, she wrapped up a huge package of pads for me. What a joker! Earier in the day Mum and I had some fun at Maccas with Happy Meal toys. Mum always says she is really only about eight years old. Me too
After dinner Jenie and I went with the crew to Diwan the only bar open. We smoked hookah and danced Mediterranean style. It’s tradition to meet up with Sara and the boys when we’re all home for the holidays. Wonder what will be open tonight?!
