You’re a winner! (thought it was spam too but it’s not)

I really AM one of the top blogs in Canada!

First of all, no, I’m not going to be on Canada’s Next Top Blogger OR The Canadian Bachelor.

I rocked up third next to a mom and a gay in the Canadian Blog Awards category of Best Life Weblog (weblog is original name of blog). Next year, I’ll be a lesbian with a child and TAKE FRST PLACE.  Seriously though, I have lots planned for 2012 in content and design and I’m gunning for first.

The Ninjamatics’ 2011 Canadian Weblog Awards saw 461 nominations across 37 categories. Their 46 volunteer jurors used  ten criteria in content & design to judge each of the 461 weblogs in the first round and approximately 175 in the second round to arrive at the winners.

Best Life Weblog/Mode de vie

First: No Ordinary Rollercoaster
Second: The Kitchen Magpie
Third: Casie Stewart: This Is My Life

To celebrate here’s the Charlie Sheen ‘winning’ commercial I was in for the Comedy Network last year. I HAVE ONLY ONE GEAR, GO.

The Art of Touch, Baby!

Hi from CES in Vegas! I’m sitting in the live audience of What’s Trending in the Venetian Ballroom right now. Some of my friends at Microsoft knew I would be here and wanted to share some gadgets with you guys. Before I left home Microsoft gave me a fancy soft touch mouse. I have it to Barbie cause she just got a new computer with Windows 7.

Microsoft wants to let you know about The Art of Touch Contest going on with the chance to win sweet prizepacks every week from Dec 5 – February 26.  You have to create a piece of art on the website  artoftouch.com.

I have two of the Microsoft Touch Mouse valued at $79.95 for YOU! Leave a comment before tomorrow when I leave CES and I will random pick two winners.

DO IT NOW MEOW!

Please vote for me (and my cute little cheezy video) in the G Adventures contest. If I’m chosen, I’ll be one of three winners to embark on an unforgettable trip which will be featured in print and online as part of the next G Adventures campaign. You can vote once daily . Ultimately, the finalists & winners are chosen by the GAdventures team but all your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!  Plus, I made it ALL ON MY iPHONE. First iMovie ever FTW! :)

I’ve attended both The Art of Leadership and The Art of Marketing and left each event inspired with new thoughts in my pocket. My friends at The Art of… have got it going on. There’s a bunch of great people who make these massive events happen.

Tuesday at MTCC is The Art of Sales, a unique one-day conference featuring five amazing international speakers. One of them is NYT best selling author Seth Goodin (125k+ on @Twitter). I’ve never met Seth but I know his blog and he also works with SAY Media.

I have 2 tickets for you to attend.

I won a car live on YouTube, not even kidding.

Remember how I was like “Come to YD Square, first youtube.ca live event ever” blah blah blah. Well, let this be your lesson that you should listen to me more often.

Well, I went and test drove the new Chevy Volt during the #chevroletallday event. It’s electric and was really quiet & smooth to drive, had some kick too.

Vrooooooom.

Keri drove too. She’s a really good driver.

Cute graffiti artist boy who was part of my Arm Yourself event at YD Square last year was there.

This guy :) Still cute.

Three finalists who answered their phones after txting in were called up on stage.

First up, didn’t start the car, next was me, my key started it. OH MY GAWDDDD. Check me out in my new Chevy Sonic. It’s small & cute which is exactly what I would want if I was going to get a car. I’m really excited to roadtrip!

Me & the lovely Peter Cornu, Manager of Special Events for General Motors of Canada. Hey Peter, let’s work together!

I’m in shock that I won and all kinds of grown up questions are coming at me from everyone. I don’t know If I can take a buy out, I have no idea about insurance, I don’t think it’s a lease,  yes I want sunroof, no I can’t come pick you up yet, and I think I get it soon. OMFG I WON A CAR. For SURE getting a lotto ticket for tonight. If I win lotto you can go ahead & hate me but I promise to do good with the money :)

A prize for you from us & @Marks. Come get it!

Over the past year I’ve gotten to know Mark’s as they’ve been changing their brand and TBH, they’re way more stylish than I remember as a kid. Yesterday they had a fashion show and we couldn’t make it but we’re giving you a $50 gift card so you can check out their new Fall Lookbook.

This time last year I went on a mega shopping spree before New Zealand Fashion Week and picked out all my favourite things.

In other words, if you have been paying attention, winning this contest will be easy for you.

Here’s how to win:

Click here or the image below to see the lookbook & comment your pick. Good luck :)

I will send the gift card in the mail with a little note with hopes to make your day. Good luck!

grind it.

Last week I went into Grindhouse Burger Bar to test out their burgers. They’re in a city wide burger challenge so my friend/owner Rob invited me in to taste the goodness.

I was starving at the time so it worked out awesome. No Coke or Pepsi products, Cane Cola has been around for over 100 years and uses real cane sugar.

Was impressed to learn that all their menu items are made in-house. This includes ketchup & all the sauces! They have a bunch of fancy burgers but I went for their gourmet big mac style. You know I love my maccas. These onion rings were SO good. :)

Grindhouse is one of 4 Toronto Burger joints downtown who are up for to win ‘Best Burger‘ during the Hot & Spicy Food Festival. The winner demos the winning burger recipe with a “Hot & Spicy” side. Event is hosted by Catherine Jheon, writer and content producer for foodnetwork.ca. It all goes down Friday, September 2 at Harbourfront Centre @ 9pm. See ya there!

Vote for Grindhouse here.

Thanks for lunch Rob. Hope you guys win!

The Cover of Rolling Stone, Sheepdogs & Beerfest

Woo hoo! Canadian bearded babe rockers won the cover of Rolling Stone contest.

I’ve not heard heaps of their music but I like their beards and attitudes from what I’ve seen/read.

“We’ve been working hard for a long time,” said the band’s grateful frontman Ewan Currie. “We’re doing our best to stay humble and hard-working, we feel very blessed. All we needed was the attention.” Globe

“The music industry has changed so much that there’s no set way of proceeding,” Currie said. “There’s not a formula you follow, like for other careers. You have to sort of jump on any opportunity that comes along and this has been a godsend for us.” Globe

“”Good-time rockers The Sheepdogs are proud, bearded rock revivalists, with a whole manner of beards, ‘burns and ‘staches on display over the years. This may help bearded rock ‘n’ roll roll make its return to the cover of Rolling Stone.” CTV

“Rock and Rollers from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Specializing in melody, harmony, guitar solos and general feel-goodery. Twitter

They made this video to get people voting. I like their style.

We may not kill it in sports but we surely are kicking’ it in musicThis video of them getting the news from Rolling Stone about winning is pretty good too.

This weekend (Sunday) they are playing Beerfest. Everyone can go! Using coupon code ‘CASIE‘ saves you $5 on tickets. Get a ticket here. Will most likely sell out before Sunday.

Full band lineup is here.  Our Digital Lounge has seating, wifi, power and lite snacks. <3

Matt Wells had some good Tweets & pix about them in NYC yesterday.  Love seeing Canada kicking a$$ in awesomeness.

Good writeup about them in the Globe which included this B&Wphoto. Glad I’m seeing them Sunday so I can decide IRL about the music. I love that look, beard & hair like Jesus.

If you’re going Sunday LMK! Have an awesome day :) Happy Monday Tuesday!
