Art Battle 17 at The Great Hall: Paint by Numbers

And by numbers… I mean Pemberton & Plashkes, the creators of Art Battle. Their numbered shirts equal seventeen. Eight is my fav number, I have one tattooed on my right arm.

If you have never been to Art Battle, follow them on Twitter here and stay tuned for the next one. It’s one of the most awesome things that happens in this wonderful city. Competitive painting for the WIN.

Paint pr0n.

THIS is how you do event shirts.

These babies were all up for grabs. Painted that night, silent auction.

I really liked this one. Bid was $150, I didn’t go for it.

Jack will always be in our thoughts.

The ones without bids are DESTROYED. See video here.

Hello new friend blog fan, Twitter peep. (Please tell me your Twitter if/when you see this!)

Queen West art hipster types in full force. You can tell there are deep thoughts going on here and I like it.

Smart, arty & handsome. Winning combo ;)

Painting in the final round.

Counting up the votes.

Simon & the winner of the Art Battle 17 David McKenzie.

David & his is final painting.

“Let’s destroy some paintings”

Paint on the clothes is a good style I reckon.

Maybe some for me next time? I like to paint too. Some serious talent at these things. I know for sure you will enjoy yourself. I’ll keep you posted on the next one.

borderline artistic: shots, lomography

Shot another two rolls for Lomography Mag’s Lomo Amigo project. These are all that turned out. I’ve got another roll done and I hope more turned out. I’m gonna pop by the store and get some tips before I have another go.

Some of these are rad. Especially love the ones from my balcony.

Beerfest.

put your hands up for TO.

Stopped by Beerfest Thursday for the media preview. Omg there was so much food & drink to be had. This was cookin’ in the grill house. Get grub there.

My big party day is tomorrow at Beerfest. We’ve got an awesome crew and the Social Lounge is where we’ll be. Planning to walk there for about 1pm and drink slow & steady all afternoon. Shrimp wrapped in bacon, dipped in something delish & battered in crushed chips.

This steak was gently placed on top of a butter infused baked potato. Divine.

Practically licked the plate, see! Thanks Labatt.

After I chowed down I biked to see the Arkells live in the parking lot by the SOHO. How cute is singer?

Heaps of peeps in the crowd. I was up front in media area where it wasn’t crowded. Thanks Samsung.

KARINE from MTL!

Friends were yelling to me from top of the balcony up there but I didn’t know that until I checked Twitter.

I can see my house. Have I told you how much I LOVE living downtown?

This guy was a babe too.

This guy was ________. Beige?

Missed The Midway State.

All hail the HAILWOOD tights copied by H&M. Knew this was coming.

Remember me rocking this style last year? NZ Designer Adrian Hailwood gifted me his signature & fab two toned tights last year at NZFW. Thanks Adrian! NZ has always been ahead of style in Canada.

Hailwood NZ.

I see boring. Oooh organic, zzzzzzzzz.

Not boring! Sammy & I went biking.

These neon bikes are all over the city now. City wide art project of awesome.

I love this city. <3

toronto grafitti

Got a different perspective on Toronto’s famous “Graffiti Alley” this weekend. If you don’t know it, YOU ARE CRAZY. It’s famous and awesome and can be found near Queen/Spadina, south side back alley.

Learned history of graffiti, vocabulary and styles.  Someone covered the Banksy on Hotel Ocho. Talked about the controversy around graffiti in our city.  Lots of it.  One of the pieces in my video is “Blob Ford”. SO many cool ones. Good artists. Thanks to Tour Guys & Jaunt.ca for the tour.

Nice to get to0 know a little more about Toronto.  Good collection of Toronto street art here. I like this one, obvs. haha

I was postered on Queen Street a few years back by Toronto Poster Boy.  They were big & bright, done with wheat paste. I really like stencil painting now.

jaunting about.

So many photos from last night. Was a great time. Stayed at the SoHo with about 30 other writers, & notables for a staycation with jaunt.ca. It was really fun. Thanks to the Jaunt team for spoiling us. You’re great.

First time staying there. Rooms are nice and so is the service. Thank you.

Our night started with cocktails & deserts. Tasty treats. Mostly ate fruit & strawberries dipped in white or spicy dark chocolate. Please adopt me SoHo. I want to live in you.

Limos to the gallery.

Hi kids.

Welcome to Neubacher Shore Contemporary for a private gallery tour.

Cute outfit.

Nice to hang out with Julian & Sam.

Bonga calls me Sam too.  Samuel.

Nice dress SNP. Kitty matched Julian. Long skirt love.

I’d like to own a gallery when I grow up.

Interactive.

Went for dinner after this. It was so many courses. Save that for another day!

art is a battlefield: art battle eleven, toronto

It is a sight to be seen, a scene worth attending.

Magnificent in nature. Impressive in size and appearance. Majestic, dignified, grandeur.

Painters, painting. In the middle of an open room…

…where people look and stare.

I liked this one.

This was a naked man in a stairwell (painting). Did not win. He asked people walking by “how do you spell descending?” it was charming, so innocent and real he was. I live for realness.

This is Simon. He’s my friend who is good looking smart, tall, and fun. He is single and I would love one of my friends to date him. He did not pay me to say this. He is one of the inventors of Art Battle/awesome.

This is me…

Levis Curve jeans | vintage long wool camel coat | motorola milestone, telus | reading a podcast, Picard | shoes from Aldo, Raymi has same | vintage knit hat | gaga round purse H&M | nella bella change purse | artsy lady beside me with paint on her pants

The artist I liked won his round and got to go to the finals. Against this girl…

Cheers for Gingers. He won, with this painting. I liked it.

I would have bid on it but I bough Courtney’s painting, she is married to Porter. I was hoping I would get to see her because I didn’t see her yet and I missed her round of painting at the start. She is preggers and they are having a baby. I’m happy for them. Being in love is a wonderful thing. I am in love every day. This is her painting…my painting.

At the end this guys painting was DESTROYED> YES DESTROYED. Look close. Laying paint on paint in  front of a crowd to eff his painting right up.

Bring on the paint. Hi Simon & cute girl.

The other inventor of Art Battle is Hinto (Chris). He is laying down the painting to be taken advantage of. It’s gonna get messed up too.

OMG, it’s paint porn.

The end.

this makes me very happy

My clean room is so incredibly sunny today. Can I tan through the windows? It sure feels like it. Oh summer, I miss your love.

They’re back together. She got her Ken. I told you love was in the air. #swoon

Happiness: Mum, a good fortune and the eight of hearts. Eights & hearts are my fav.

I got a bouquet of tights from the spring line for Secret Legwear yesterday. THANK YOU!  I’ve been wearing tights Secret sent me all winter and to be honest, they have lasted, washed & worn really well. Casie stamp of awesomism!

Considering I hardly EVER wear pants, getting these is HUGE for me. Shared a pair with my darling roomie @itsbrownbarbie. Things are better when shared, happiness for you, for you, for you, for EVERYONE!

Was given a very special painting yesterday wrapped in this very special paper. I’m the luckiest girl in the world! Weeeeeee.

Since I demolished clothes mountain and turned my once closet back into a bedroom, I’m finding all kinds of  gems that were hiding. Did you know I was nominated for a YTV Achievement Award in 1996?

It was the first award show I ever went to. I saw Robyn, met Nick Lachey (w/ 98 degrees) and didn’t end up winning. It was an honour to be nominated ;) Pretty much nothing online about them now, it was before internet was really mainstream.

The reason was nominated was for that book I wrote. I found these articles in the same portfolio. My first time in the Toronto Star:

Hockey Hall of Fame & NHL star Darryl Sittler came all the way to Cambridge from the big city to present this award to myself and co-author. Young Entrepreneur of the Year 1996:

That very photo was in every phone book in the city and what a diva I am wearing leopard print. Haha, I kill me. [insert laugh here]

My heart’s on fire with the Ken & Barbie news. They really are perfect for each other. We’re perfect for each other too. Soak up the sun today, it will make you happy.

i wanna be in another country with a camera taking your picture

oh man it’s freakin’ windy out there eh?

This video is old, of my fav’s. I used to be a member at the AGO. I went all the time. It was a lovely place to spend time by myself, inspiring, energizing and often gave me creative ideas to do sill things like this. Ha. I make myself laugh, that’s a pretty good skill if you ask me. Mohahaaaa.

It’s Casie and I’m at the AGO and it is sooo windy here today. I don’t know if you’ve been to the AGO before but I really suggest you check it out. They’ve got a lot of great stuff happening here, lot of artists, really interesting things for you to check out. So go to the AGO because it’s really neat.

i am an artist

Remember my art blog borderline artistic? I post drawings and paintings and poems and stuff. This afternoon I’m attending this Amex ‘Digital Canvas’ Media Challenge. I made this with the Amex FB app. Whatta ya think? You have probs seen the ads but you can make one too here.

It’s a big media shindig where people paint (yes me) and money gets donated to United Way. There’s a a chance to win a trip to NY, gift cards, an iPad. I really want an ipad please.

In prep for the art show I browsed a few old things I did for inspiration. Perhaps I will recreate something I did years ago? Well, it really depends on the paints and the setup. It is also quite dependent on my level of anxiety at the time.
