I’ve made it clear in the past that I love little pins you can add to your outfit because they just add so much character to your outfit. On top of this, they can be used to show support for a friend, business, or charity. I know a friend who got a pin artist to design them a pin that was a quirky way to promote their new business. It worked amazingly! But I love a pin that’s got meaning behind it. For exmaple, this year for Movember my friend has created a line of wooden lapel pins that are little tiny moustaches. I’ve been a MoSista for FIVE years! Movember: #MOGASM Party at The Drake Hotel on Friday

Ladies & gents! #MOgasmTO is back for the third hairy year. Some friends and I launched this at The Gladstone Hotel back in 2010. This year we’ve got a bunch of fun things planned including Mark Shannon’s Photo Booth, musical guests, Speedboats & Big Explosions AND the launch of the official MoSistasTO 2013 Calendar. Caldar was shot by Kevin Luc and styled by Alison from King & Fox. Last year I won a nailing contest (with hammer) and lost an arm wrestle. There are awards for best moustache, auctions, and drinks. movember madness

I love Movember. So many MO’s around this fine city. What is it I love so much about it? I like a man who can grow a nice one and the donating to charity. The fun of a whole mass of people doing good is pretty darn great too. I’ve got a video in the works showing off my MO gear. The Annual Movember Toronto Gala is Movember 25th at the Guvernment. See event deets on FB here. Judging starts at 10pm so bring your best MO cause I’m a judge again this year. Here’s a pic I took in last night’s fog. It was so crazy. My condo felt like a glass box in the sky. I couldn’t see the ground, the CN tower or the building next door. Thickest fog I’ve seen in the city ever! Some great ones on BlogTO today.

Getting Involved and Giving Back: War Child Canada + National Philanthropy Day

Last week I attended the What If Women Gala in support of War Child Canada. Since I was young volunteering has been something very important to me. In the last year, I’ve donated my time with Telus, served a few meals at Evangel Hall Mission, Movember Canada, Brands For Canada, and partnered with War Child Canada. Aside from the gala being super fun, it was inspiring to hear stories of survival and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of women in attendance. I went with Deane from Veritas as an Ambassador for War Child. I rented this beautiful dress from Studio Fitzroy, my go-to place for great dresses. I was jazzed to meet Margaret Atwood and Sarah McLaughlin. I loved that M. Atwood and her husband were both wearing Coogi Sweaters. When I complimented her on it she seemed surprised and pleased I recognized the Australian classic. I used to have one and it’s my most regretted piece of clothing I gave away. I think about that bright beautiful thing all the time and wonder where it might be. My favourite part of last night was that @MargaretAtwood and her husband were both wearing COOGI sweaters. I love Ruth B.’s ‘Lost Boy’ and hearing her sing it live was amazing. Dinner was also good. Deane and I had so many laughs together and I met some great people. CottageLife | You Might Just Need An Entire Weekend of Sleep

Hellooooo November! I love summer but there’s something so calming and creative about winter that makes me want to lock myself inside and write or organize the house. I did neither of those things this weekend. I slept at least 25 hours. I took as many extra hours of sleep as I could find! We spent most of the weekend on the couch watching shows and movies from Netflix or iTunes. The fridge is full of takeout. I was tired. I had work to do but I just didn’t have the energy. Today I feel much better and ready to take on the world! Whenever it’s a new month, year, and sometimes even day I look back and feel grateful for memories or think about how life has changed. Two years ago Sunday, Dad and I did the CN Tower Edgewalk thanks to Mastercard Canada’s Priceless Surprises. Timehop is a great app for looking back on that you posted on Twitter or Facebook that day (see posts about the app). Saw this rusty rat rod truck that made me think of you Daddio! He custom builds hot rods and is working on his own rat rod right now. It’s the start of Movember so I can’t help but think about the MoSistas TO pinup calendar from last year 2012. (Gah, I can’t believe it was 2 years ago!) The girls and I had a good time getting dolled up. I was May. Apron was Mum’s and I love it. I use it on the regular. I hope I still have that scarf. In other news, Regina George started following me today and I’m already into the Christmas music w/ one of my favalbums by She & Him. Weekend Wrap Up: Cavalcade of Lights, AMAs, & Hibernating

I’ve been spending the weekends charging my batteries lately. Monday to Friday are so busy that by the time Saturday morning rolls around all I want to do is cook, clean, and rest. I went to Cavalcade of Lights presented by Great Gulf on Saturday for the first time since I’ve lived in Toronto. It was magical!
